I was just thinking about The Celebration Europe in July, what are the chances we might get our first glimpse at Rebels Season 3 then?

 

Oh I can't wait for these episodes/trailer viewing being added to the Celebration package.

 

Me too. I think they need to be more together in the episodes. like TCW, the couple seasons are single ish story episodes. They needs to have the whole crew in 2-3 episode story intergrated with rebel base and fighting more into the empire when Kanan/Ezra find the Sith Lords. then always separate characters with single mission into the story arc. I think more R2D2 would be involved with C1-10P since R2 does have the plans of the death star in R1. Zeb and kallus story arc would strengthen in season 3. its like the deathwatch dude in TCW. He held a good frame of story for mandalor character. Sabine needs to be less of a solo character for episodes. In that I mean having Ezra or Zeb or even Kanan with her to make it a more deeper story since they are deeper into the empire and all. With Hera, I think she will be more vital in the rebel base and leading rebels, possibly a couple of characters from R1 into some episodes. I think the crew of the Rebels can run into the death star and Hera being the strong pilot escape the empire informing the base about it. With Kanan/Ezra, I like for Kanan to somehow run into Obi(sometime in the whole Rebels franchise) Ezra getting stronger and finding Ahsoka. I think maul will die in season 3. See more Lando and a good episode with Rex and Sabine as they encounter another clone... Boba Fett vs. Sabine/Zeb/Ezra... Jyn Erso mixed into the rebels show. more Yoda and Kanan moment.

Glad to see Thrawn canonized via Rebels and the canon-EU novels, and can't wait to see how this all unfolds in Season 3. I was always a bigger fan of the Del Rey books, but I have great respect for the characters, species, and planets of the Bantam-era Legends material. Among those species the Chiss and among those characters Thrawn. I won't get my hopes up for too much more canonization of Legends items, but it is pretty cool TPTB are doing this.

 

I'm wondering how Zahn feels having to work with a rebooted version of the character. He goes into things a bit in the link above, but I wonder how much he'll try to "reinsert" into the canon and how much he'll start from scratch. That would be quite a neat experience for an author. He could use ideas that maybe he never got to use in the prior incarnation due to continuity restraints or something.

 

I haven't seen or read anywhere if his species will remain Chiss. Are there any other Chiss in the new canon? I'm guessing it will stay the same since nothing about his appearance has changed.

It may feel refreshing for him to go back and start anew.. Like you said, possibly explore some ideas he put to the side in the past but I'm sure he is limited on what he can use and establish in the new canon. I'd think it would be fun for him overall, though.

 

Do we know a timeframe yet? How many years have passed since the end of season 2? Ezra looks a little older, but no one else does. Maybe it's just the haircut.

 

I'm guessing 6 mths to a year, possibly.

 

Hopefully you're right. I wouldn't want a long period of time to pass.

It's interesting that they already have thrawn's entire life already mapped from the beginning to the end .
