I'm holding on to the hope that Tam will stay with the FO through the end of the season and into 2. It works so well as a personal conflict for our entire crew.

Kaz will be out for revenge because his family just got wiped out, and it will feel like a colossal (no pun intended) betrayal for him if Tam joins the very people who killed his family. Tam already believes that Kaz betrayed her so having both characters mistakenly believing in mutual betrayal could lead to a really compelling arc. It is a natural next step in the friendly rivalry they had through this season.

I'm curious how far Tam can go with justifying the FO's actions. What will be the moment that she questions them? She seems receptive to their manipulation and is growing more and more convinced through the FOSB's charm offensive. Since this is a children's show, I don't see them going full tragic hero on Tam by letting her fatal flaw destroy her. She will see the light and be redeemed at some point. I'm just not sure what that trigger will be. I hope that it won't happen any time soon for the sake of a good story.

I'm glad they finally got to the big reveal for the Colossus. They needed something big to happen with the platform and using the platform as a literal iceberg (mostly hidden below the surface) narrative device works so well. This fits with the mystery behind its past and Doza's past. I'm sure next season will see more of the mysteries of the Colossus revealed as we learn more about Doza and the Aces. (Or we don't and the Aces remain 2D characters)

They could take season 2 and 3 in some really fun directions if they want to draw upon the anime references they are drawing from for this show. The first two that fit Kaz and this zany bunch of characters are Space Dandy and Outlaw Star. These shows' wackiness fit Kaz and Neeku if they decide to bound from one system to the next in Wild Space and the Unknown Regions discovering bizarre creatures and cultures along the way. If they want it to be more serious, Space Battleship Yamato 2199 or Knights of Sidonia could offer the sort of model that could work if they are a lone space station running from the FO while trying to seek safe harbor and a soon-to-be-revealed maguffin.

I think the anime references will remain mostly limited, but I feel like they have a lot of source material they can definitely draw on for inspiration. I am absolutely certain that Season 2 will definitely be the one we all will end up watching rabidly as it will tie in with the lead-up to Episode IX on top of all the other TCW and The Mandalorian content. We are going to be so spoiled this Fall. I can't wait to see what happens with Kaz, Team Fireball, and the Aces moving forward.

I don't know--I don't see Kaz trying to get personal revenge. Certainly not revenge on Tam if she stays with the FO (not sure if that's what you meant?). In the show so far, like with Elijah Wood's character, Kaz has just kind of let stuff go and been the bigger person. Or at least the person with a more important mission to focus on. I can see him being hurt, though, and angry. And I can see him using Hosnian Prime as a personal motivator, as more of a way to keep going in his quest to make things right and oust the FO.

i agree. no hero in Star Wars will ever be vengeful. that's behavior reserved for the villains.
if his parents are dead, he may struggle with his feelings briefly, but ultimately it will galvanize his commitment to the Resistance.

and if Tam joins the FO, he will try to "rescue" her.

I meant that he will want revenge on the FO.

He won't want revenge on Tam but it will really hurt his feelings, I think, if she joins the group that killed his family. There will be a mutual betrayal/hurt feelings going on between them because neither has the full story or understands why the other is doing what he/she is doing. Yeah he'll still want to "rescue" her from her "mistake" but it may be pretty awkward and confusing for both of them.

Oh yes, you are right. They definitely are both going to be hurting--Tam is already there, it seems. And we saw how deeply hurt she was by Hype and she couldn't seem to let it go, so she won't be getting over what she feels is a betrayal anytime soon. She may very well refuse to be "rescued," which will escalate the hurt yet again.

We have seen several instances where our characters have become vengeful. From Anakin to Ezra to Saw Gererra, there is always the chance any character can see a wide variety of both good and bad emotions. It's what makes the characters so relatable when we see them go through their character's journey. I am sure Kaz will go through most of his in Season 2 and potentially Season 3 if the show gets an extension.

Just saw the season finale and it was a strong way to end this first season and set us up for Season 2.

Some of the things we were talking about on these boards are coming true.

Tam had a tough decision to make in this episode. She was confronted by two different paths forward and she chose the FO. The only change from the previous episodes is that she left with them with a sense of doubt for the first time. She still feels they are the better option but is less certain than before. It definitely feels more like a rescue mission going forward.

The Colossus is airborne and out in the galaxy. They teased us in this one by making us all think the Colossus is jumping to D'Qar but Neeku being Neeku was so excited by the whole thing that he didn't enter the entire set of coordinates so no one really knows where they are going. That's fine with me. They could end up literally anywhere in the galaxy and that means infinite possibilities for future stories. I'm hoping that they go from that first episode to Takodana, D'Qar or other worlds we have seen in the films after the action has passed there to see the destruction left behind. Aunt Zee could invite the Colossus to Takodana to meet Maz but then only learn that Maz's castle was destroyed literally right after she left. Maybe they even find Maz there and the team is involved in her fight we see going on in the holograms from TLJ. The big moment could be midseason when they finally catch up with the remnants of the resistance and reunite with Poe. OR we could tie into the Poe Dameron comics first by finding the surviving members of Black Squadron who are spread out around the galaxy.

I'd like to see us head out into the unknown after retracing the steps of the films. Maybe they are looking for new allies or maybe they are looking for safety away from the first order. We can find tie-ins to the Thrawn canon and legends materials and even borrow some plot points from Outbound Flight, which was also about an enormous vessel traveling through the unknown toward the edge of the galaxy.

Speaking of new allies. The pirates show up in the 11th hour like the eagles in Lord of the Rings to save the day. They also join the team and the new little fleet residing on the Colossus.

I'm hoping that we get to have some answers or at least more information on some of the unexplored questions of this season.
    (1) We still don't know much, if anything, about our Aces other than the fact they are great pilots who look cool.
    (2) We know Doza used to be an imperial and in this episode we learned that the Colossus hadn't flown for 20 years before the finale. 20 years is important because the Battle of Endor was about 30 years before and the Battle of Jakku was 25 years before. What had Doza and the Colossus been up to in the 10 years between? Was he part of a remnant? And what relationship did Doza and Yeager began operating on the Colossus?
    (4) Are we ever going to learn more about the deserted temple and the children who were killed there, or did we learn all that the showrunners wanted us to about it?
    (5) Are we going to learn anything else about the children who Kaz saved at the beginning of the season and who have been living in the heart of the ship? Are they really limited to just being orphans of the FO's brutality?

Now that they have established the world of Resistance, Filoni can have some more fun doing what he does best, Canon and Legends callbacks. I fully expect to see callbacks to Clone Wars and Rebels in Season 2, and possibly some nods to post-ROTJ legends stories, too.
    • Hondo Onaka is still active in the GFFA so could we see a cameo from him in this? In the new Smugglers' Run ride at the Star Wars park, Hondo and Chewie have teamed up after the Battle of Crait in the Falcon. Maybe our crew finds these guys along the way, too. https://ew.com/movies/2019/02/28/millennium-falcon-smugglers-run-disney-parks-details/
    • As far as we know, Ezra is still out there. Maybe he is still with Thrawn, or maybe they have gone their separate ways. We also know that Asoka and Sabine are looking for him. Maybe we run into these characters out there on the fringes of known space.
    • Speaking of Thrawn, I'd love for a new arc to be similar to his canon introduction. We meet Thrawn as a "castaway" on a remote planet. They invite him on. And then he systematically attempts to take over the Colossus for his own purposes and/or for the Chiss.
    • The Hutts are still out there as are the other banking and mining clans. It would be great to see what the post-Jabba criminal empire looks like right now, especially in the power vacuum after the destruction of the New Republic.
And that's about it for now. Looking forward to Season 2 of this show.

I was thinking the season would end on more of a cliffhanger--that the Colossus would come out of hyperspace at D'Qar, but we as the audience wouldn't know if it was before the FO shows up with the Dreadnaught or after. But this is cool too. Do you all think the Colossus is being tracked like the Raddus was?

I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed that Bibo's mom didn't figure into this episode. I guess we had to make do with those light-up carnivorous critters eating Stormtroopers! Wasn't expecting that. Also didn't expect a whole SD to show up and start firing on the Colossus, but it makes sense that those shuttles had to come from somewhere.

I liked the pirates coming, but I'm surprised Synara convinced them to help apparently so easily, although it makes sense that they'd want revenge. But they also don't seem like very safe allies as a whole. They didn't seem to play a major role, just a critical one, so I was okay with it. I'm glad we finally got to see the aces do some dogfighting!

Also, I liked Kaz's mini trench run to save Yeager. Yay, Star Wars!

The music and animation while the Colossus was rising into the atmosphere was so beautiful!

*Sigh* Tam...:( Does she even yet know about Hosnian Prime? How will she cope with that knowledge, if not? It suspect Tierney will soon show her true colors... But I sincerely hope we get to follow her "progress" in the FO and see her inner thoughts, and she won't just be dropped. The show really needs her.

Looking back over the season: In every single episode, I have genuinely laughed. Sometimes it was just expressions, like in the Core Problem episode when Kaz almost shot his foot off, or in this episode when Torra groans over Neeku's literalism...sometimes it's just silliness, like CB-23 "fainting" with relief in this episode.

I think the reason I put up with all the goofiness of Kaz's pratfalls, etc., at first (when I wasn't very patient with Ezra) is that from the very first episode I knew Kaz's home planet, if not his family also, was going to be destroyed, and sorrow would lie ahead for him. He dealt with it very much in Leia and Aldraan fashion: set aside your sorrow for later, until this fight is finished.

I have to say, this last string of episodes absolutely killed it! So much tension and the animation in that final battle really proved what this show has to offer. LOVE that Tam ended up where she did and they weren't afraid to show Stormtroopers getting mauled by sea creatures! It can only get better from here and I am excited to see where the Colossus ends up :D

Did the regular citizens of the Colossus get evacuated sometime before the end of the season? If not, they are all travelling via hyperspace along with the main characters, then?

Also, has anyone noticed a slight inconsistency between Hux's body postures between the series and the movie? In the movie, when Hux says "[...] the last day of the Republic!!", he starts motioning with his hand. We see Hux as he's saying this line in today's episode, but he is not seen doing the hand motions.

    Welcome to the Cantina, @Macromind101!

All the citizens were confined to their quarters by the FO--although we later saw some of them drinking in a cantina, I believe--so I would assume they are all still on the Colossus. There might have been a few who were arrested early on and "disappeared" like Aunt Z and Hype were supposed to be, but I guess the majority are still there.

They took a nonliteral approach to Hux's animation, which I thought was a bit of a shame, since I loved Domhnall Gleeson's over-the-top eye-watering and spitting and such. :p But to me it helped that it was the same exact audio from TFA to make it seem like it was really happening for Kaz and friends.

    1) Most of what we know about the aces is just bio information off the Databank and Wookieepedia. Go check out their pages for more background info on them and their ships.
    2) The Battle of Endor took place in 4 ABY and the Battle of Jakku was only a year later in 5 ABY, so considering this all takes place around TFA in 34ABY, we can assume the ship hasn't flown since about 14 ABY (give or take a few years) which is around about 7 years after the events of Last Shot and the start of The Mandalorian Season 1. No telling what caused Doza to go neutral during that time, but I assume due to Torra's age being close to Kaz (about 19 or 20), he wanted to start a new life and be there for his newborn daughter. I think this will come up in an episode of Season 2. He has shown in Season 1 how much Torra means to him on several occasions. I imagine that he and Yeager settled their differences many years ago and they grew to be good friends over time. Talk about turning a new leaf! Correction: Torra was born in 19 ABY, so she would only be about 15 years old in this show. I am wondering if this is when Doza may have met his wife (who was a Rebel pilot) and they decided to settle down. She probably changed his perspective, he became more neutral and hung up his Imperial uniform for good. (Just speculation)
    3) (Mislabeled as 4 above) It is pretty much confirmed by that episode that the whole star system was wiped out or imprisoned because the FO didn't want any witnesses to their testing of Starkiller planet and moon de-coring and drilling projects to find a suitable host world. A similar reference is when Rose and Paige Tico had to flee their homeworld of Hays Minor because the First Order was enslaving or killing their population and taking all their resources similar to how the Empire mined resources on Lothal in Rebels. They take what they want and destroy anyone who opposes their control.
    4) (Mislabeled as 5 above) There is no doubt that we will learn about the children of Tehar coming up. They won't let something like that sit for too long. Everything comes together in the end even if we have to wait. The Purgill episode of Rebels is proof of that.

Filoni really isn't tied too much to this show except as creator and being a part of the writing staff. I'm sure he has his hands in the production, but he has really been trying to pass the baton to his fellow creators so he can start doing his own work outside of animation (The Mandalorian) and any other Lucasfilm projects they want to have him work on. Hondo could easily show up in an episode or two of this series, but they will definitely want to make their own mark with these new characters carrying their own weight as well. By this point in time, Ahsoka is over the age of 60, so I really think that Ezra and Sabine would have found him by then and that story will have wrapped. I could be totally wrong and they could be going into the "40-years of Mosus leading the Exodus" route, but that seems doubtful. It would be cool to see everyone referring to her as Old Lady Tano though. There is no telling what Thrawn has been up to, but much like the Zeb and Kallus arc from Rebels, they will end up working together to understand each others needs or be locked in eternal battle for all time. See S1:E27 of TOS: Star Trek for a similar encounter of two figures stuck in eternal battle between dimensions as a good example. The Underworld struggle was hinted at in the Poe Dameron comic and as we know from Issue #31, Grakkus sided with the Resistance and is supplying them, so we will have our Underworld angle going into Episode IX or at least in some stories that will take place between TLJ and IX. Come SWCC, we should have a clearer picture from Del Rey, Lucasfilm and Marvel on what stories are coming out in the second half of 2019.

Whoops looks like my #3 must have gotten deleted when I was moving stuff around. Oh well, can't remember it now anyway.

It was interesting to read about these characters but Doza's wife being a rebel pilot seems like a pretty important detail to risk people completely missing if they didn't read supplemental material. Maybe it comes up later?

I honestly didn't think Hondo would be alive at this point in the story so seeing him pop up in the theme park was a big surprise. That's the only reason I think he could make an appearance.

I'd be completely ok with Old Lady Tano popping up. She could go full Gandalf the White in that.

And on the subject of the Underworld, I'd love to see a Goodfellas or Sopranos show from the GFFA.

Just watched the finale! Without spoiling anything, I can say this: Star War Resistance Season 1 had a great finale. It was bold, brave, and funny. This show has a depth to it that other shows don't always have - the voice acting here is really good, and that definitely helps. The ending was a little bittersweet, with the bitterness serving as a way to get us excited for the future. And I am. Kaz grew up SO MUCH during Season 1. I'm excited to see where he goes in the future. Overall, this episode was a great one, and Resistance is a good jumping off point for any new fan in Star Wars.

I'm sure it will factor into things later more and more, but we know Torra got her love of flying from her mother and that is quite apparent in her excitement to fly well and race even better.

It is quite bittersweet. Would be great to find out if that was the Finalizer with Peavey in command (since Hux and Ren were off on the Supremacy post-TFA) attacking the Colossus at the end before meeting back up with Hux to attack the Resistance fleet above D'Qar. We should know here pretty soon from one of the bonus YouTube videos they put out from Resistance Rewind or Bucket's List.

Also, it wasn't fair that I didn't mention IDW in my list of canon creations coming in the second half of 2019. Their kids comics have been heavily underrated and make so many great additions to the stories. They are just as worthy to be on that list of exciting creators to keep an eye on, this year especially!

We started the season with Vonreg chasing Kaz and end it with Kaz chasing Vonreg. Is he toast or do you think they will pull a Phasma and say he survived?
