    @FN-3263827, another question about S2E1:

    Is Synara in the episode?

nope. we don't see the Aces or the pirates at all. the focus is between the command tower and the engineering room.
even the folks in the bar are just the usual bar bums; the guy with the 'stache, the big burly fellow who sells gorgs, etc.

I watched The Doza Dilemma at the weekend.

I've love the animation, the characters, the lightheartedness. It is great that Kaz more of a screw up than a know it all hero.

However I have been no where near as eager to get episodes as I was for Rebels and TCW and it is all down to the involvement of the First Order.

The show would be been far superior if it existed in it's own corner of the GFFA with the primary villains being the pirates and other unsavoury figures. Kaz cold have been a New Republic Academy drop out or he failed the entrance exam.

If I was able I'd go back in time it would be to before the sale to Disney. I'd have two things to say to George Lucas - to ask if he is sure he wants to do it and to tell him put it in the contract that no copying the Empire, to use Mandos.(boba fett)

EDIT: Not that I think that Disney owning Lucasfilm is bad. Far from it. Just that I don't think Lucas would have reused the Empire.

I suggest you do some research into George's plans for what he'd have done with the franchise. He came out a couple of years ago and spoke about where he'd have taken the franchise. I think you'll find the First Order was a much better alternative.

Edit: To quote the big man himself.

From Collider's article on the subject:

I think Resistance is a really great looking show. The Clone Wars and Rebels both started out a little slow but both shows eventualy benefited from that earlier character building. The early episodes of Resistance have actually started out slightly stronger in my opinion, and if it performs likewise, it should be really great.

I especially loved the last two episodes of the first season. It really sets it up to be very different going forward.

Did anyone play the new Resistance game on the Disney Now app? I played one game and immediately crashed twice :p but I'm sure people who are actually coordinated would do fine. :D

All of the shadows and lighting in Resistance give it the look of a old noir. There's always something casting a shadow like blinds and faces partially covered by shadow. I love all the intricate details in the ships and settings. Look at the guns those stormtroopers are holding in the first pic above.

Has there been any word on the timeframe of season 2? I wasn't all that impressed with it for most of season 1, but I thought it really picked up in the later episodes (and whenever Poe was involved) and would definitely be up for season 2. I think it'd be cool if it took place during TFA/TLJ and led into TROS, it has the potential to be for ST what TCW was for the PT.

I believe that Season 2 should be happening concurrently with TLJ if I’m not mistaken.

BTW, in case anyone here hasn’t heard, Resistance Season One is coming out on DVD on August 20th. For some reason, there’s no Blu-Ray available for it? Not a big deal for me (as I somehow still haven’t fully transitioned from DVD to Blu-Ray...) but I wonder why they’re only releasing it on DVD.

I rewatched season 1 to get ready for season 2. Have to do something while waiting for The Mandalorian and The Rise of Skywalker, and Resistance is the part of Star wars I've seen the least number of times. I really like this show. I still hope they encounter Ahsoka, Sabine and Ezra in season 2. I'd love to see them in this style of animation.

Sad to hear the second season is the final one. I love the look of this show and the trailer for season 2 is amazing. I can only guess they have something bigger planned for Disney+ and are closing out the XD series.

Second episode of season 2 (A Quick Salvage Run) was pretty good.

The space battle was small and short, but it was really cool.

I can't wait to see how things unfold with Tam.

Caught up with the show last night. I'm glad to say that Season Two has done in two episodes what a Season One could barely do - make the characters smart without sacrificing the humor. Kaz, still has his bumbling idiot moments, but the crux of the episode or the problems of the episode don't revolve around it. Characters point out how they get into situations, and let the audience know it's not gonna slide. The humor very much lands for both kids and adults. And the show is as gorgeous as ever.

My main complaint is that the dogfights look...slower...than the ones in the movies. Rebels had this problem too IIRC, so it's probably just an animation thing. But it's still noticeable.

As a little bit of petty pride, some aspects of that "thought exercise" I did months ago are actually coming true! ...not sure if that means I was that good at predicting the show or the show is taking an obvious route...either way, I'm excited for the rest of the season!

Also as an aside, I might try and do "two weeks on, two weeks off" with this show and My Hero Academia. I watch both with my dad, and both benefit from having multiple episodes to watch in a row instead of the usual weekly format (one of Resistances greatest flaws IMO).

    Kaz's development works for me.
seeing him be such an idiot in Season 1 made his "growing up" at the moment of the Hosnian disaster more impactful.

he's still Kaz, and he'll still be a dingbat and i doubt that will change, but the way the stakes have gone from winning races to fighting a galactic war is really a great shift and was clearly the intention from the start.

i don't know what people expect from serial storytelling these days, but too much of what i see elsewhere is just constant status quo with big action to make you think you're getting somewhere (and yet you never do). it's like that by design. i think Resistance was always going to be a limited series and the arc was likely planned from the start, so there was no need to rush and no need to not make huge dramatic shifts when the time was right.

Oh I love Dingbat Kaz, but when only when it's a joke. Kaz falling down the stairs or running away from Stormtroopers while the patrons of the Colossus bet on his survival is one thing; Kaz fixing an engine that only starts to work AFTER he's not paying attention and then falls into the ocean is too much for me. Then again, they both can be played up to "lack of awareness," but the last example feels the most contrived to me. It doesn't help that he's the ONLY one who is really a dingbat.

Also agreed, although maybe animated shows have it a tad easier? Not in terms of complexity, but in the fact that they don't HAVE to be limited to one area to film stuff...because...they're animated... then again, geography doesn't have to change for the characters to do so.

For Resistance, I prefer watching it in bunches because Season 1 was most palatable that way (I did most of the season weekly, but when I watched the show with a friend earlier this year, we had limited time so we watched at least half of the show in one sitting). The character development felt easier to spot and more enjoyable that way. For MHA, it's mostly because the first couple of minutes are - and for season premieres the first episode is - flashbacks to what happened last week or previously. I personally find it unnecessary, but then again I fondly remember the "Last Time of Dragon Ball Z..." from my own childhood. Maybe that's the problem...they barely do a "last time on..." but instead insert in scenes from previous episodes into the latest. But that's a side tangent.

this is definitely true, though other live action tv is catching up on the limitlessness with technology and such. it's a great time for a real renaissance in serial storytelling! : D

i need the reminders; i just don't hold the details like i used to. if you're bingeing it's certainly less necessary, though, i agree.
i think the week to week format is fine, but i do like to binge sometimes too. and yeah, sometimes threads are more apparent when you're watching stuff back to back. weaknesses are also more apparent. for shows that are really formulaic, bingeing can really make it feel like a drudge of sameness. XD

fortunately Resistance doesn't have that problem. : D
