    They are not elegant. They look very similar to the beetles walkers from AOTC, design that I didnt like it too.
    But lets wait to see them in action.

    But I thought I remembered Jason Ward specifically saying that the walkers in TLJ were NOT the walkers seen in TFA.

    It's part of the July 2013 section, which was still pre-production. Sure it was just ideas for possible vehicles on Starkiller Base.

    AT-PD: The All Terrain - Defensive Pod (Pod Defender?) of the First Order was produced in small numbers only and was utilized on the Starkiller Base to defend important facilities.
    The head of the four legged vehicle housed generators powering the heavy laser turrets of the AT-PD.

    IMO the only thing new is the clear distinction between the First Order Defense Walkers and the AT-PDs. Both from TFA, as far as we know.
    The on screen AT-DPs where so tiny that it was almost impossible to tell them apart from the much more clearly shown Defense Walkers.
