Is anyone actually hyped for this movie?

Tremendous comment , my thoughts exactly....there is disagreement with certain aspects of a movie, then there is hatred, then there is vitriol with this “I told you so” attitude .... then the next level is wanting something to fail....

I want to see this movie, but I feel like I can't really be "hyped" because of all this toxicity and negativity. Heck, even Youtube keeps recommending me video on how The Last Jedi sucks. I think I need to get away from any Star Wars discussions for a couple of weeks, because I really want to enjoy Solo.

There's a great feature on YouTube that lets you say that you're not interested in videos similar to the ones that are suggested on YouTube. Next to every recommendation there's a symbol of three dots, you click on it, choose "I'm not interested" option or something sounding similar (not sure how it's called in different languages,) choose why you're not interested in this video and voilà, the hate content starts to disappear from your suggestions. :)

There have been a lot of articles, documentaries and research recently on Facebook's, Twitter, Google and especially Youtube's recommendation algorithms. They bombard you with negative vids because they breed maximum engagement making you watch more and similar videos. Just look at any thread zone in the cantina. Whichever movie it is, a negative thread will probably have most posts and replies.

As for Youtube. Just dislike them a few days on end as soon as they end up in your feed and click that you are not interested. Problem solved. No more click bait negativity in your youtube recommendation!

I actually made a post or thread (I can't remember) before the first teaser for Solo dropped summing up all the negative criticism Solo will get from fans and it was scarily accurate.

Well, that's one way to deal with this issue. Still, I wonder if such a... passionate fanbase will seriously harm the franchise in the long run. We will see.

The point is that "the toxic fanbase" is what Google/Facebook wants you to think. When you do a simple poll, what you'll see is that the overwhelming majority of Star Wars fans isn't as toxic and negative to begin with. Also, people who disagree with something or dislike a movie or any other consumer item, are far more likely to state their grievances in a review, thread or comments section than those who like the item or are okay with it.

As soon as you'll start to understand the parameters and algorithems of the internet, your life will be more peaceful. Just love and enjoy star wars like we do, be harmonious, scorn everybody else.

I'm stoked for it. I'm going to see Matthew Sweet in concert the night Solo opens, so I guess I'll catch it on Saturday.

    But yeah....stoked for it.

I was a little meh about this movie until I went and saw Infinity War
The preview they showed before it drew me in. Now I'm hyped about it. I think this movie will be good.

Disney dilluded the product as this happens all the time with something successful that makes a lot of $$$$.

Many of us are still debating and processing TLJ and yet we have a new SW movie in one month. I haven’t had time to get hyped.

It’s the first SW movie I still haven’t planned with my friends when/if we’re going to see as I’m always there opening night.

If it gets good reviews then I may go opening weekend but probably the 2nd/3rd weekend. If it gets crummy reviews then I’ll probably wait to Stream/Rent or even Cable. It’s not like I don’t want to see the movie, it’s just I don’t HAVE to see this movie like previous SW entries. That’s called dilluding your product.

If ya ain't hyped, yer asleep. Why? Because this damn movie looks like it has all the elements of a fun Star Wars film PLUS exciting elements from kick arse classic westerns. I was sold before the latest featurette. But now my hype in hyperdrive.

I never expected it to have Han Solo on a Great War-like battlefield literally as a mud trooper. The images reminded me of Passchendaele and Ypres. I also love Corellia. It looks grounded and believable.

The new Mimban scenes were certainly a surprise but a good one & the fact that it has a slightly different tone to both Corellia & the later heist scenes & yet still feels part o& the same film is another good sign
Oh & that latest clip of Lando after someone shots up the Falcon is just pure Lando.

Oh yes, normal Star Wars excitement was achieved with the drop of the second trailer.

There is a general apathy towards this movie even from die hard fans who post in forums like this. If the die hards are apathetic towards the new SW film I can guarantee you that the general audience is going to be a lot less interested in it. I honestly think that The Last Jedi soured a lot of people on the SW franchise... It simply wasn’t the film people wanted to see. Maybe if they were a little more respectful to the legacy characters and their fans people wouldn’t be so down on the series.

Personally, I’m interested in seeing Solo (a lot more so than EP 9) but I can’t say I’ve spoken to anyone who cares about it one way or the other.

Which is why Solo is projected to earn more than $160 million during opening weekend. Even the most conservative projections are around $135 million. By comparison, Rogue One projections were around $130 million. Solo will do fine, with or without offended fans and the same will hold true for IX.
