But what's the time gap between Rebels and TFA? 35 years?

Enough time to go through character changes and to become wise, I'd think.

Not gonna happen. I think that Dave Filoni actually explicitly mentioned that these guys would be far away from Alderaan when it was blown to smithereens.

Your whole concept, and they just won't bring a character from a children's cartoon to a major hollywood picture.

He's said that, when they eventually got around to the time of the OT, they wanted to explore stories of what was happening on the other side of the Galaxy while key events in the movies were going on in the background.

Well, the Muun named Hego Damask is not canon so there is no barrier to Snoke being Plagueis. And just as Palpatine suggests Palatine(high level imperial official) and palpitate, I would guess the name Snoke is supposed to be a composite of snook(as in to **** a snook - intentionally disrespect someone or something) and snake. Star Wars is heavily influenced by Celtic mythology and to the Celts the snake represented secret knowledge, cunning and REBIRTH.

Regarding Snoke being an alien.... What evidence do we have? Just the 4 fingers on each hand?
How many fingers Vader had in Episode IV? Zero! And how many limbs? You got the point.
Snoke's face doesn't look human? Why? Because he doesn't have hair and looks scary? Eyes, nose and mouth seem to be in reasonable human proportion on his face.
Is it his skin that makes him alien? This could be easily explained by a tragic past. Remember those 2 seconds in Episode V where we saw the back of Vader's head before he puts his helmet on? He didn't look any less human than Snoke, for what is worth. Snoke's skin could be explained by a mix of old age and third-degree burns. So, I wouldn't rule out that he is human. Most high-profile villains in Star Wars movies have been human: Vader, Palpatine, Dooku, Kylo Ren. I don't consider Darth Maul a high-profile villain as he was limited to only one movie.

Back to Ezra. I will play devil's advocate here. I hope the #TeamPlagueis folks don't force choke me so quickly, as I'm just coming late to the party, as joined the forum as few days ago, and wanted to share my ideas about this particular thread.

He was born on Empire Day, right after Order 66. Assuming almost all of the thousands of Jedi slaughtered didn't become one with the Force (as this was something Qui-Gon Jinn does first, then Kenobi, then Yoda), then the living Force in those thousands of deceased Jedi could end up in the next Force-sensitive child, Ezra, who was born immediately after these events. Luke and Leia were born a bit later, perhaps days.

The lead actors/characters in the new trilogy represent the "battle of the apprentices" : Kylo Ren vs Finn, Rey, Poe. The secondary characters would represent the "battle of the masters": Snoke vs Luke/Leia. This could be read as the Son of Order 66 vs the Son/Daughter of the Chosen One.

Regarding the claim that Snoke "saw" the Empire rise from the beginning and Ezra being a toddler at the time, it's not strong to rule out Ezra. This seems to be purely based on Snoke's quote "I WATCHED the Galactic Empire RISE and then fall". In Star Wars, we cannot literally take for granted even what appears to be the true in the dialogues we hear in the movies. Even the good guys have a long track record of saying lies (or inaccuracies) to each other. I could make a list of all the lies that Luke heard in the OT from Kenobi, C3-PO, Owen, Beru, Yoda and Leia. Even Leia believes she knew her real mom for example. If you want to be 100% literal, Snoke didn't say "I watched the Galactic Empire form". Technically speaking, Empire Day was the day the Empire was form, in the middle of a war (that hasn't fully ended) with the Separatists and now the Jedi. Days later, the Separatists leaders were killed and the remaining Jedi went to exile. In the coming years, the Empire would continue taking over Separatist worlds, etc. We can stretch the language and say that the 'rise' of the Empire comes after it was formed (Ezra's birth). So, what Snoke said could still be truth, from a certain point of view :)

Regarding ignoring TV shows when producing major movies, this is perhaps the strongest argument against Ezra. It makes things more complex, as the secrecy of the non-disclosure agreement of the contents in Episode VIII would have to include individuals who are not in the movie's payroll, but in the TV show. Not impossible of course, but complex. However, if Disney had a master plan for this, then they could have put in place some guidelines for this to prevent script leakage (in Episode V, only Hamill and Earl Jones had the final script about Vader's being Luke's father).

The other strong argument was that the movies/trilogies should be self-contained, without dependencies on background stories that haven't been explained in the movies themselves. Sounds fair, but we should point out that even the OT was not self-contained about Vader's background story, and we were all happy with this for like 15 years!

Disney Executive Producers could have easily told the producers of the new trilogy: you have total freedom in the script, just keep the Skywalker family as the main focus and make sure the main antagonist ends up being our little hot shot in Rebels. And say something similar to the producers of Rebels: you have total freedom in your Episodes, just make sure Ezra is not killed at the end, we need him alive. That's the power of the Executive Producer. They may only need to make sure the last episode links to what the envisioned as Ezra's final fate.

Now, think about from the corporation point of view. This could easily increase ratings of Rebels, boost orders for DVD for each of their seasons, as SW fans who are not into Rebels yet may be forced (pun intended) to know more about the TV show once the connection is revealed.

Still, I agree it is low probability, but I wouldn't rule Ezra out. Even if they end up choosing Plagueis as Snoke, his real background won't be fully self-contained in the new trilogy, as we will like to know more about his earlier years. Regardless of whether Snoke is Ezra or Plagueis, Disney will produce another TV show to fill the gap between Episodes 6 and 7.

Again, Snoke is a f***ing alien! How many times does this need to be repeated?

(Also, Snoke is not a Sith, and if we're going with the presumption that Ezra's a Sith once he seeks knowledge from Darth Maul, then he's not Snoke.)

doesn't help that Jedi Council fed into this Snoke=Ezra BS today. Even though they just hypothesised, they gave it oxygen unfortunately. People that are desperate for some kind of tie-in really need to go back and read Pablo's tweets ranging from before TFA and afterward, snoke is snoke.

When is Snoke's race ever mentioned?

And who said that Ezra automatically has to be a Sith should he choose to turn dark?

35(?) years or so is a long time considering what can happen to a person in that universe.

Snoke is referred to in the novel, I believe, as a non-human humanoid.

In the script he is described as "not entirely human" or something to that effect.

I am going with @Pomojema on this one. SNOKE is an ALIEN and referred in the novel as a non humanoid.

Also, they've repeatedly stated that the connections between Rebels and the Sequel Trilogy are going to be few and far between. Making the main character of the show turn out to be the big villain of the movies is much too complex a turn of events when you consider that so far, the movies have yet to really acknowledge the EU outside of the JTTFA books - which were made to promote the movie, not the other way around. There hasn't even been a significant reference to The Clone Wars.

Also... Snoke is Snoke, according to Pablo Hidalgo. Not Ezra. That's just silly.
