OFFICIAL NEWS John Boyega says Episode VIII script is " much darker" than TFA

Punisher MAX by Garth Ennis is the darker Marvel could be, even Stan Lee mentioned that never consider comics in that way.

 

I'am curious if they open up a bit more this time.

 

Prehaps Kylo and Snoke actually do destroy the republic. I can see Luke standing over the bodies of Rey and Leia, anger and remorse in his face as we pull away slowly, ominous music playing, then end credits. That would be pretty dark.

 

while i agree that is pretty dark, i still feel their is plenty of room to make it darker if thats the way they want to go after all, the good guys still won, they blow up the enemy base, find thier lost hero...... their is plenty of room to go darker.

personally i don't mind if they go darker or not, just want a good film that shows us something original while staying in the star wars universe.

 

Darker to me is not about people dying but the thickness and tension of the film, a dark film is usually slower and less action-packed, focusing more on the emotional state of the characters. So I am hoping this means the film will be a little slower and don't rush through everything

 

My theories:

-The Resistance/New Republic suffer a serious defeat(s). And not like the Battle of Hoth, which was a rearguard action to cover a tactical retreat anyway, but an actual serious loss.

-Several "named/known characters" die, on both sides.

-Rey is defeated (and possibly badly injured) in her rematch with Kylo.

-The characters get put through the ringer emotionally.

-Etc.

 

I don't see what the big deal is. Boyega OBVIOUSLY means they are shooting more nighttime scenes.

 

That just makes us all know that they are following the SW saga. Of course the Darkside will have their revenge out of the whole Saga. I think we will get a ROS plot with the flashbacks of KOR and Kylo further his training. I think Luke wont play a big role in this film as well. Maybe help or force push Rey away cause she will struggle in ep. VIII. It's the only way you can go within the trilogy and the SW saga. I think we will see Snoke force push the blast outta Kylo and Luke's only doing some force push and retrieving a lightsaber.

 

I honestly think Finn's home world is going to be under attack by the FO and he's probably going to sense it.

can you guys already imagine the criticism of this movie: this movie had a land battle, a training sequence, a master and apprentice, luke skywalker, a force vision, a family reveal, a duel and an escape sequence. This is just a rehash of Empire!

 

To sense it he would have to have force abilities, i think TFA has already shown that he doesn't, with the way kylo ren dispatched him as soon as fin pissed him off.

 

I don't mind a darker film. Why not! Now, what is going to be darker...the story, the music, certain characters??? Rey???

 

I need to re-watch Looper, but I recall that movie having a gritty, emotional edge, and pacing that let you build tension instead of just showing you shocking things.

I know that I wasn't ready for the twist, nor did I see it coming. It was out there sci-fi while feeling very real. Just the type of thing that can make for a great SW film.

Kasdan said it was "Weird", The actors say it is darker, we have other comments about taking the franchise in a new direction. I think we are going to see themes that resonate, because this is AGFFA, but I think this will be a totally different movie than what has come before.
