OFFICIAL NEWS John Boyega says Episode VIII script is " much darker" than TFA

I seriously doubt that they're killing off Rey. It makes NO sense from their perspective, nor from any perspective except for a "twist." But doing a twist simply for the sake of doing one doesn't automatically make it good, it still has to make sense in-context.

 

Ummm, not to be rude, but have you ever seen ESB? Luke lost his hand and ran out on his training and Boba Fett takes a frozen Han to Jabba, not a happy ending. How about ROTS? The hero turns evil and betrays everyone!!

 

And yet none of the main/major characters died in ESB. And ROTS HAD to do what it did, being a prequel and all that. We already KNEW that that was coming.

 

much darker doesn't mean 'lets kill everyone off'.

We will undoubtedly meet Snoke properly in ep 8, we will definately see more of the unpredictable Kylo Ren and we may see conflicted Luke/Rey. Throw in a couple of Resistance defeats at the hand of the First Order... add a little Del Toro and mix in plenty of Rian Johnson...and you've got yourself a star wars movie that may be a little darker than usual.
