He will - Rian and Steve have been friends since college, every film Rian directed Steve shot and I don't think this is going to change anytime soon.

I'd opt for less immediately recognizable Star Wars elements, no tie fighters, star destroyers, desert planets etc, and a wider integration of aliens to humanoids. You know? Look at a scene like Jabba's palace, or the Mos Eisley cantina, or even a few scenes from the prequels. When aliens outnumber humans in SW it gives us a better glimpse into the richness of these galaxies far far away. Other than that, I don't want to impose any expectations, that seems to be what tripped up so many about The Last Jedi.

I want a trilogy that mostly explore the non jedi/sith parts of GFFA. In legends I loved the "Tales from......" novels they really expanded the world for me and now in the new canon I loved "from a different point of view" novel that did the same thing. so I would love to se this on the big screen :)
And of course more aliens, this is where I feel the new triology fails. ( BTW I loved TLJ )

I say place this new series 1000 years after the Skywalker Saga. This helps Lucasfilm on two sides. It creates a blank slate. It also protects against them against a film that doesn't work. They could also do this by placing the film in the past or in the unknown regions.

It's bizarre to me that they don't have a timeline for this idea yet. It makes me think that it's a long ways from being a real thing.

Would be good if we get new species or even current species to be a main part. Maybe not even humanoid. I want something new and different. I’m kinda getting bored tbh with all the main characters humans or humanoid. We need to see a wider variety I believe.

Come on guys. Cinematography is fine on last move but not good as Blade Runner 2049. Even Rogue One's cinematography better than last movie.

Huh? Have I said anything about Deakins? No, I haven't. Deakins is most likely the best cinematographer in the industry. Speaking of Rogue One's cinematography - it's great. Is it better than TLJ's? I don't know. My knowledge of framing, lighting and colouring is too small to make an informed opinion. I can just say that both TLJ and RO are pretty but I find TLJ prettier, mostly because of its usage of personal closeups and colour red.

Deakins is the greatest cinematographer of the last 30+ years.
    That's a lofty Maclunkey goal you're setting.

The cinematography is more than fine.
TLJ was one of the best shot movies of 2017.

I'm currently rewatching LotR and I came to a conclusion that I hope they'll go with the original way Rian intended to do space battles and Canto Bight in TLJ - with models and miniatures. Will it make any difference visually? Probbly not. CG in TLJ was all but flawless. But it'll be definitely cool to see how modern technology can be utilized to give space battles and big-scale sets a greater senseof tangibility.

I think the difference would be noticeable - if the results were identical, then I'd say go with the easier method. It's a shame they didn't use models eventually. Or at least some kind of hybrid approach. In TLJ there's a lot of moments in which miniatures would be very effective - for example the establishing shots of Supremacy and simple movement of the cruisers during the chase. However, since the conclusion during TLJ production was to go with CGI I doubt the approach will change.

I think it mostly came down to time. Nowadays Lucasfilm always seems to be in a bit of a rush with their SW films and CG seems to be a quicker option, at least according to ILM. That's probably why Rian's new trilogy has no release dates attached - to give him as much time as he needs to prep these films. Besides, they're already doing a ton of stuff in camera - adding miniatures to that list won't really affect the budget that much (they're already spending over $200 million on these films.) Moreover, they can use it in marketing as another example of how determined they are to making these films seem as real as possible.

I love the art behind miniatures, but it's just something that adds anything. The CGI looks better and allowing them to do a lot more things.

The same applies to the film cameras when compared to digital ones, yet they are still frequently used. I know they're less practical, but making art isn't about practicality, especially if yo have as much money to spend as producers of SW films do.
