    i agree with @oldbert : for whatever reason, Snoke throws this line in Kylo Ren's face like an insult, not an honor. like: you stupid little twit you think you're such a big deal? prove it to me.

    it's hard to tell what the intention is because i don't 100% trust that Serkis is giving a performance so much as displaying a weird affectation (which is the problem with motion capture as far as i'm concerned). but i feel like this is somewhat supported in the book where, at the end of the scene, Snoke smiles.

    this is one of those moments where, if it's intentional, it demonstrates that Snoke does not treat Ren like some special snowflake, but belittles him into subservience.

    They seem more corporeal to me than Force ghosts or spirits. I think they are more like galactic Ronin, adept warriors serving a dark purpose. There very well may be something to the idea of some of them being creations. Especially if Snoke was into the same kind of thing Palpatine was into, messing with genetics and cyborgs and so on.
