    I am conflicted.

    I like the idea of a new evil (even if its ancient).

    Yet they took the time to bring back Maul. Then did a whole comic series that eliminated many of his allies and left him sort of wasting away. Which suggests they want him back.
    u
    Its funny people felt Maul was killed to soon and could have been better utilized now bring him back is taboo.

    And so it should stay taboo. Sliced in half and fell down across the Eqautor of Naboo. Dead. End of the Maul story.

    This is Star Wars, not the X-men.

    The idea of Maul was always as a piece of a 3-part story related directly to Darth Vader:
    Maul = Amazing fighter
    Dooku = Former Jedi
    Grievous = Cyborg

    Add them all up into a soup and you have Darth Vader (amazing fighter who was a former Jedi who is now a cyborg). This is straight from the horse's (GL's) mouth. Maul served his purpose in GL's "poetry". That is and always was enough for me.

    That's nice and all but he is canonically still alive so your argument is completely invalid and you know it.

    You don't HAVE to accept everything that's canon, that's your selfish perogitive...but do realize that you look silly when people speculate about something that IS canon, and you arbitrarily decide its not

    I hear you. Thats why I said that I would prefer a new villian.

    But they already let the cat out of the bag. Maul was brought back. If they wanted fix the issue they would have re-killed him.

    Eventhough I won't, but if Maul appears in the film, I'll want to walk out of the cinema!

    BTW, who let the cat out?

    Selfish perogative?

    Look Silly?

    So, I'm not intitled to my opinion that Maul is dead by movie logic.

    Just cause my view doesn't agree with yours, you don't have to insult people like a 12 year old.

    The Clone Wars series which is canon brought Maul back (the cat out of the bag). He was all over season 5 and they did comic series also canon about how Sideous used him to take down the force witches. It left him alive but diminished/"no longer a threat."

    Ah thanks... I stopped watching TCW around season 4, was unsure if Maul lived on.

    Well, if it's canon, then I guess it's a strong probability he might appear... but I'm still for keeping Maul out of the film, bring in new villians, and if needed, use Maul for Rebels.

    You should watch it if you can. The biggest complaints I had was not that brought him back but the first introduced a character who was exactly the same his brother Savage Oppress. Then after bring him in they then found Maul who had this reall cool spider lower half built from junk. They so should have kept him half spider.

    I remember when they found him, but the sub plots in some episodes were too dragged out for me, and I lost interest.

    I stopped watching soon after Ventress's clan was wiped out.

    Lets be honest. They brought Maul back because they needed a cool bad guy and ratings. Not to advance the story. If anything, bringing him back detracts from the overall story and from Obi-Wan's victory. I hate they brought him back. I'd bet everything he will not be in another film.

    If they didn't want him back they'd re-kill him.

    I am not saying that he will or should be in TFA I am saying that if they thought it was a mistake they have had the chance to fix it.

    You're both sorta right from my POV.

    The "canon" label legitimizes the cartoons. But like any vehicle, the shows need a cool villain. So Maul is brought back, given a deeper storyline, etc.

    And since the cartoons are canon, fans can expect to POTENTIALLY see some of these characters cross pollinate other vehicles... the Films being the greatest of them all.

    So strategically, it's a win-win. Labeling something canon makes core Star Wars fans pay attention to something they may have otherwise ignored.

    At the same time, fans of the cartoons get one more reason to continue watching.

    Cynically speaking, none of the actual characters may show up or ever be referenced in the films. But I'm sure the ratings and receipts for the cartoons and its merchandise benefit from being dubbed "canon."

    The Mouse House are very savvy marketers. The housekeeping in regards to SW canon wasn't done ONLY to streamline things and make it easier for fans. It was also a way to give their own products an additional unique selling proposition.

    Of course you're welcome to your opinion, but when your opinion is blatantly wrong, then yes, you do look silly.
