I didn't read through everyones comments yet but to me it basically sounds like a mash up of the new episode of Rebels, and some reused stuff from both trilogies. If maul came back I would hate to have him use the same sentence and have that be his catchphrase for lack of a better word. "At last we will have our revenge....again....maybe...depends if I don't get cut in half....again" Some of it seemed interesting but I personlly won't buy into this storyline yet. I don't think they'd reuse so much plot just replaced with different characters, like Max the hermit, the new super weapon being insignificant compared to the force, and basically the plot of the new rebels episode but flipped to the Sith(this i won't count out only because of the info saying rebels would link with Tfa and such but I would hope it would be different) and also, I said this before but didn't JJ say in an earLy interview that there would NOT be Ewoks? If so, I don't see them having the empire getting revenge on the Ewoks without showing them. I also wouldn't think the new Empire would say, "our #1 mission is kill the Ewoks...I don't care if it takes 10..20..hell, 30 years! We will have our revenge!" I may sound like a downer, but I'm not sure I'd be thrilled with this storyline. Pieces of it, sure, but bleh...please no. Thank you for sharing it though, it was a nice read after being away a few days

I'm not buying Serkis as Maul simply because Park is still capable of playing him without legs, plus I've saw pictures of Serkis post-TFA filming and he never shaved his head.

I don't see any reference to the art that SpoilerMan posted, but I do see plenty of allusions to the actual art leaks we've seen. This is still probably fake, though, but it's fun food for thought.

Except with the aging and the robotic legs, why would you use Park?

He was only necessary for his athleticism, not even his voice was used.

It would make far more sense to mocap the character and let Serkis give him new gravitas.

I feel like the idea of both Finn and Poe ending up in the same cell doesn't make a whole lot of sense given that Finn supposedly has a huge escape sequence earlier in the film, which would be rendered moot by him being captured.

Nonetheless, I could see that happening with Poe. Here's how I kind of see the first act playing out based on what we've heard from various reliable sources (bear with me, this is a bit of a stretch).
    • The film opens up with the Imperial dropship landing. Stormtroopers start attacking the Tatooine village, Finn (John Boyega) among them. He objects to firing upon unarmed civilians and does something to help them escape, to the chagrin of his commanding officer (Gwendoline Christie).
    • The Stormtrooper assault group return to the Star Destroyer above after the village was destroyed. The officer reprimands Finn for disobeying orders. She then welcomes the arrival of the Sith collector (possibly Kylo Ren (Adam Driver)), who Finn immediately senses is bad news. Finn internally questions the morality of the Empire and considers jumping ship.
    • Finn briefly sneaks into the collector's collection and takes a lightsaber. He is presented with the perfect opportunity to ditch the Empire when a New Republic fleet arrives out of hyperspace and opens fire on the Star Destroyer. While everyone else goes to their stations, Finn hijacks a TIE Fighter and attempts to escape, though he is shot down and crash-lands on Tatooine's surface.
    • Finn gets out of the wreck of the TIE Fighter, lucky to be alive but still wounded. However, he is then met by a number of scavengers that want him dead. While things look grim for Finn, Rey (Daisy Ridley) drives the scavengers off and she takes him back to her home. There, they meet with an elderly man (Max Von Sydow) who acts sort of as a caretaker to Rey. A little alien ("Rose" (Lupita Nyong'o)) is also present among them.
    • The battle rages on above, and the Star Destroyer itself ends up crashing onto the planet's surface, though the ship is simply beached instead of completely destroyed (and as such both the commanding officer and the collector). Poe (Oscar Isaac) managed to deliver a crippling blow to the Star Destroyer, but his X-wing was shot with an Ion blast, and his ship crash-lands (although it is in much better condition than Finn's ship). Rey sees the battle above and heads out with the giant beasts to see if there's anything worth salvaging.
    • Poe is captured by the crew of the Star Destroyer, who have called for back-up and expect to take Poe as a POW, but Rey comes along and saves him. The beasts end up dragging the X-wing to a local outpost for repairs.
    • While waiting for Rey to return, Finn inadvertently shows the elderly man and the little alien the lightsaber. The elderly man immediately recognizes it and mentions that it is something of great importance. Rey and Poe return, and somehow it is determined that the lightsaber is the one that belonged to Anakin Skywalker, and therefore his son Luke.
    • These five characters go to the outpost to see the X-wing's repairs, and one of the characters notices the presence of a familiar ship. They go into a cantina to discover that Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) are there with some members of the New Republic army, celebrating the victory against the remnant of the Empire. They then approach the two and ask for information on Luke Skywalker, to which Han comments that he hasn't seen him in at least a decade. Nonetheless, he sees Rey (his daughter) among them, and offers to take them to a major New Republic outpost.
    • Suddenly, a large explosion can be heard in the atmosphere. A New Republic flagship from the previous battle was destroyed with the arrival of another Star Destroyer in a surprise attack (the backup that had been ordered earlier). Poe hops in his repaired X-wing and the rest hop aboard the Millennium Falcon as a fleet of TIEs descend into the atmosphere, attacking the New Republic ships on the surface. A dogfight on Tatooine takes place before the Millennium Falcon and the X-wing make the jump to Hyperspace.
    • Both the commanding officer and the collector get aboard the new Star Destroyer and attempt to follow the Millennium Falcon and the X-wing.
And BB-88 fits in all of that somewhere. With that, you have what I think could be the first 30-40 minutes of the movie.

Of course, all this might be simplified a bit if Finn and Poe were captured together, but it doesn't explain the art that you previously brought up regarding Rey rescuing Finn from the scavengers while Poe is nowhere in sight.

I like your idea of Finn deciding to bail once in space and basically hijacking a TIE this explains why he could be flying a TIE in standard trooper gear.

Right but that was a prequel and that was George Lucas running things. We may know a decent amount of stuff but we are going to be off on a lot too. That's what I'm trying to say.

Stopped reading after the first section, wich is just A New Hope with replaced characters.

I really hope for The Force Awakens to be reminiscent, and nostalgic. I want the past to radiate in this first installment.

I do not want it to be a ripoff.

Before TPM, AOTC and ROTS there was a lot of information out because of the various media involved with movies - books, CDs (a major spoiler for TPM can be found in the track listing), calendars even. This media sometimes came out BEFORE the movie did so the info was out in a legit way if you knew where to look. It isn't just a Lucas thing - it's done by all companies. I've had the plots to Man Of Steel, Brave and The Avengers ruined by just walking into Target and thumbing through a book weeks before the movies came out.

A better way to approach this might be -- for those of you who followed JJ Star Trek rumors leading up to their respective releases, how much did JJ let out?

And my question to you -- did you see how much of AOTC or ROTS came out? It was full-on all-out flasher in public. I was there. It didn't come out all at once. It trickled out little by little and there were many revisions along the way for sure. But the people like MSW and S7N pieced it all together. And they were also invited to the media screening, I might add. The Aldera.net spoiler site guy said GL was sitting a few rows back and he was floored by how running a "stupid spoiler site" (in his own words) could have gotten him this close to THE MAN. I hope MSW and S7N and others get invited too.

And with GL, I'm sure he had his NDAs in place. It didn't matter. The production was too huge, too many outsourced aspects, too much 3rd party merchandising. We already know that Sep will see the release of tons of toys featuring scenes from the movie. Again, believe it. You know it to be true! ;-)

That's how I feel of there being this talk of multiple characters playing both sides of the fence. I want to see SW not a spy movie. Walking out of movies has become all to common for me. I might be getting too picky but they were all super hero movies I have faith there won't be any ridiculousness in TFA.

I agree with most of what you say, I envision MvS a little differently but he is still an enigma. I'm also of the minority that thinks we are barking up the wrong tree with "Rose Nyong'o" something about it doesn't sit right with me

I like parts of it, but dislike as many.

Here's why. The script feels like very JJ, every main character connected by a third party per say, and all meeting up by chance to move the plot as his Star Trek films have shown. That, I dislike.

Too much exposition by Han and Luke to recap the auidance... another of JJ's favorite techniques... I dislike that too.

That dark cave drawing in Driver, interesting, as will be his training. That I like.

An evantual ace pilot show down between Driver and Isaac. I like that too.

The Maul I have mixed feelings. For him, he's dead. I don't care what alien or technology involved, Maul was sliced across the intentines and fell down a pit so deep that it peaked deep into Naboo's core. This is where TCW disappointed me as it was more driven by merchandising than logic.

Still, there are too many holes in this story, like what happens to MVS character? Who is controlling the Empire? And really... another weapon that can destroy planets and the plot revolves on it's plans? Please no.

Not buying it for two important reasons:

    1) I know you said not to point out that this doesn't tell us anything new, but it doesn't. It's a neat gathering of information but it doesn't work as a narrative. Characters are introduced and carry the 'plot' for a while before handing over to the principle character in the next known scene/sequence. There is no sense of a protagonist or main story, just stuff going on.

    2) It sucks. Where is the sense of moral ambiguity we've been promised, the simple OT-style story and the foregrounding of the new cast? It manages to include the detail we've seen in concept art and trailer shots, but fails to deliver on the grander ambitions of the film-makers-- the result, it reads like enthusiastic fan fiction.

    Nice try, but sorry no....
