Exactly. It would be explained as easily as it was in TCW (pure hatred and the darkside keeping him alive...just as it did Anakin on Mustafar).

Not that hard for a general audience to go along with.

But what's the compelling dramatic impetus for bringing Maul back as a primary villain? He was Darth Sidious' attack dog who never progressed past the position of apprentice and was terribly maimed by a mere padawan. He's no criminal genius or Dark Side guru.

You wouldn't be bringing back TPM Maul, you'd be bringing back a Maul with over 6 decades more experience. Aged, wiser, more powerful in the dark arts, and the only one who remembers the teachings of the Sith and could pass it down.

Your explanation is logical whether people like it or not. It is the same reason why Darth Plagueis could also appear in TFA. Having been declared dead by an evil and deceptive character is far less definite than being cut in half and still surviving.

If neither appear then it makes no difference but the point simply is ...in the SW universe they could appear.

It´s so funny :) I just see the duel between Connor McLeod and the other guy in the Renaissance era with the rapiers. |The other guy stab Connor so many times, the guy just rise again and again.....I imagine a popular star wars character like Dark Maul, and his adversary stab him and cut him and chop him again and again and screaming Can´t you people ever dieeeeeeeeeee??????!!!!!! with Maul rising again and again and laughing Hey, Jedi, not even with cutting my head off, the narrators will always figure it out to bring me back :)

    Ninj'd

Maul had ties in the underworld, was the leader of Deathwatch Mandalorean terrorist, who might know where both Sith and Nightsister darkside secrets are hid. Maul with a line of dialouge could conceivably be returned reasonably "darkside," "alien physiology."

Maul was originally to be played by Benito Del Torro who quit when his speaking parts were dropped. Parks who I believe was a stuntman more than actor filled in and voiced by someone else. So bringing in Serkis to play him adds some gravitas to things.

I don't want him in this movie, but... Did you see him raise a criminal army and take over Mandalore through a puppet leader? If Palpatine didn't intervene when he did, Darth Maul could have run a criminal organization that could have rivaled both factions in the Clone Wars.

But his head wasn't cut off. Sure, he was more or less cut in half, but all of his essential organs were in tact and the wound sealed.

Again, the movies have already established that you can be burned alive, electrocuted, have the majority of your body replaced with machinery, and fall thousands of feet (which would normally leave a person unrecognizable) and still some how live.

I just find it very interesting that you critisize Maul surviving when multiple instances already exist in the films where people should have died yet live and in some instances are practically unscathed. Why don't you critisize ALL of the moments in the movies that depict ridiculsouly impossible events?

I don't mean to cut anyone off, but it seems as though we are split on the issue. (runs)

I don't think that Tyrannus has nearly as good of a head on his shoulders as Plagueis.

I'm up for an All Amputee Standalone Movie. Bit parts for all, but work is work.
