    Like most languages it depends on a whole range of factors. Proper pronunciation is the hardest part: a - ah, e - ea, i - e, o - oa, u - eu, I've written it as best as I can, but you'd probably still pronounce it wrong.

    Had to look up the Maori people cause I still wasn't familiar, interesting indeed. I have not heard of them before! Do they still have a strong presence in NZ ?

    Sort of. Our UK ancestors stole most of their land and forced them to amalgamate with their society, so their presence isn't that large, but with educational initiatives their culture has managed to survive.

    Haha, yeah seeing them always gives me a good laugh :). Most New Zealand actors don't get into big overseas productions, so I always enjoy seeing them on-screen. The ones that do are usually really nice people as well.

    New Zealand has only officially been a country for around 200 years, about when the British started settling. I'm about 7th generation, and some of my ancestors were of the first European settlers: http://collections.tepapa.govt.nz/Topic/1222 (just a fun little fact :D).

    Just some random information on how young my nation officially is. Obviously, the Maori had been living here since the late 1200s to early 1300s.

    My wife and I wanted to take our honeymoon in New Zealand. Beautiful countryside! Sadly, we're not rich, so that didn't happen. Disney World for Star Wars weekends was a good consolation prize.

    Speaking of NZ... Flight of the Conchords, anyone? :D They're hilarious.
