    Star Wars romance has always been, and will likely remain aimed at 7 year olds. It is sexless (meaning the act of, not gender). The films are designed to not turn off children with the "eww gross" factor so I doubt we will see any more romance than we have in the past. These are not real romantic relationships. They are caricatures by design.

    As to the LGBT relationships, I would love it if they brought that in. As long as the tone is that of the OT sexless relationships, I don't see how that would take away from the story at all except for those who bring their baggage in with them. But that can never be avoided. There will always be a subset of people who will dismiss the film based on personal beliefs. Just look at how Harry Potter pissed people off (well before Dumbledore "came out") just for containing witchcraft"

    Look pal, I am a white male, married to a woman, with a family, and live in a middle class town, we both work, and we both live productive lives. I refuse to apologize for any detail of my life. Furthermore, I could care less about yours or anyone else's sexuality, or what you wear, or how you choose to live. What I did not want, is to see Disney turn Star Wars into some rainbow parade, to continue the validation and acceptance of the LGBT culture in today's society. I just want to watch a sequel to a classic fantasy movie, which at one time long ago, was family friendly, and held close to my conservative views. For me, it takes me back to my childhood, a good place, long ago, without all of the politics of today, when times were simple. I understand you probably have no tolerance for my views. That is awesome, I am a big boy and can live with that. Just know this: I don't hate you, or anyone else. My point was I just would like to see Star Wars keep all of that out. I am done with this discussion. God bless.

    Ah, good ol' conservative Star Wars. With their bastard children, incestuous kissing, sons decapitating fathers...now those were values.

    Maybe that's the problem. I'm truly sorry if two guys kissing for 4 seconds ruins the saga for you. Maybe you're not the big boy you think you are? I'd also like to add that the Han/Leia romance didn't push any agenda, so why would any other relationship? I could understand your concern if there was a graphic "Brokeback Mountain" sex scene in Ep VII, but there won't be. Star Wars has never displayed any sexually mature content, of any orientation, on screen. Ever. So you can stop worrying.
    And for the record, I'm a white, male, middle-class heterosexual. I'm also a Reverend. So please, feel free to get off of your high horse and join the rest of society. Nobody's out to get you. We just don't like bigoted histrionics.

By the way, Reverend, read Romans Chapter 1:25-28(its in the New Testament after the Book of Acts), and know this, no matter what society says or does, the Word does not change--what was sin, will always be sin and the Word will stand forever. So go ahead and hate me for choosing obedience to the Word over popular opinion, Noah did too, and it saved his household.

    So.. getting back on topic..

    Has it been suggested at all that its going to be Finn and Rey as the couple for the ST. I know recently some more rumors have that changed to it being Poe and Rey. But That to me.. feels like a cop-out. I dunno? Am I the only one who feels that way?

    I have heard nothing other than people speculating. My hope and what I would do if I had the option of making a Stormtrooper one of the main cast I would definitely play up that lovers from opposing factions.

    Well, I am a sinner.
    That being said, again, back to the topic :)

    Let's try to push the discussion in another direction.

    The "relationship" story arcs from the previous trilogies seem follow the same pattern:

    Episode I and IV: Establish new friendships
    Episode II and V: Close relationships build up into something else... Love and compassion
    Episode III and VI: Closure or tragedy

    Episode VII might follow the same pattern from Episode I and IV:

    Establish new friendships... but this time.... we have characters from previous trilogies that were in love (Han, Leia) or strong compassion (Han, Leia, Luke...) and we might see already established relationships between fathers, mothers, and children. (The relationship between Vader and his son only appeared in Episode V)...

    So it may be slightly different and complex.

    Dunno why I'm even thinking about this, but what the heck.
    I believe that people are thinking Poe and Rey will be together because it will sort of mirror the "Han and Leia" type of relationship in the OT. Other people think Finn and Rey will be together because they are the same age and will basically be the heroes of the trilogy (which probably makes more sense). Personally, I really don't care, as long as there is a good story overall and not some sappy, forced love story from the PT.

    You know, it's quite interesting, because there is a book coming out in the fall, part of "Journey to the Force Awakens"; it's about an imperial and a rebel who fall with each other and they must choose between duty and love and bla bla bla.

    I'd only heard the rumor about Rey and Finn. I'd only feel it was a cop out if it were confirmed that they were originally going to go for that, then changed it. We'll probably never know.

    I would find it really interesting if they kept Rey out of a romance and make it the Luke Skywalker of the new trilogy.
    That being said, there are several amazing young actresses cast in TFA, maybe one has a more predominant role that we expect in TFA.
