SPECULATION Luke didn't go into hiding: he stayed still

I don't think so. Han and Leia seemed to have no idea either. And you'd think they would know.
I think the missing map makes this incredibly unlikely.

 

I think this is wrong, but if it was right, it'd make Ep. 7 script even more disappointing. Younwrite a movie about Luke is in hiding, hide Luke while he's in hiding, and then it turns out he was in hiding after all.

Wait, maybe that is exactly what they did. I mean who'd of thought they'd make the first two new Starwars films since Disney about Death Stars.

 

That's a very good point! So the answer to why did Luke leave Rey alone on Jakku could be that he was actually always with her. It's possible that he even appeared to her from time to time like OBW to Luke on Hoth. I could see how that might leave her unclear as to whether he is real or not...

 

I can go along with the theory that perhaps Kylo does know the location of Luke but perhaps the 'good' in him is keeping it hidden from Snoke. However, it seems like others would also know this location if this was the case. Wouldn't the entire Knights of Ren know? Could they all be expected to hold the secret also? However I do have to say I really like the thought and information you put into this.

 

As many have pointed if so, then Kylo would have known where Luke is.
In addition, it's been already confirmed that the Kylo + KOR scene is not = the attack to the Jedi Temple.
It's another time and place.
It's Kylo + KOR vs some Clan. What is in the background is not known (could be another temple, a tree, something else).
But it's not the same place where the Luke + R2 scene takes place (and we know, from the script) that that scene (Luke+R2+fire) is set in front
a burning temple we don't see in the forceback vision.
Therefore it could be (and to me is) a scene from the past (= Kylo's betrayal) but it could be
a scene of the future, whatever is on Ahch to, burning.
I don't think it's the latter because from what we know so far, there's not on Ahch a temple of that shape.

Everything, from pictures to Rian's and Pablo's quotes, suggests the Temple on Ahch to is something far more simple, archaic.
The Tree itself perhaps plus the huts.
But we cannot say it for sure.

Finally, I still think the books on the shelf are a vision. Because the imagine doesn't look to me as something "real".

 

I have been thinking about this theory for awhile now.... I know it might seem like a far stretch but if you remember TLJ trailer the orange hand on the book... What happens of that was Ahsoka? I mean it would sorta make sense she is force sensitive and she has orange skin and she could have helped Luke to get in the temple because doesn’t it take two to open the temple? could it be possible that she might be one of the protectors of Acho-To? It May be a far stretch but it would make sense... I mean and if not then who’s hand is that?? And no I don’t think it’s Maz because someone would have to hold her up for her to touch it lol

 

But there are finger nails on the fingers... so I don’t think that a glove

And also that seems it’s a right hand on top of the book and the hand that got chopped off was Luke’s right hand.... and I don’t think he wears gloves on both of his hands just on his left hand and I don’t think his right hand has finger nails either lol

In this image, he's wearing a glove on his right hand in this outfit (which looks a lot like the hand in the screenshot you posted:




In this image, he's wearing a glove on his left hand in a different outfit:





Given that there's evidence that he at least owns a glove for each hand we COULD surmise that there is a possibility that he wears both at once at some point.

It looks like a seam in a leather glove to me.
