    I think the reason why Luke was on Acho-To is cause he gave up on the Jedi after his nephew destroyed all of his hard work, and he stays in Acho-To thinking about how he failed and then Rey comes and changes his mind and joins the rebellion again

    The dreams of the island were likely Force visions Rey was having giving her a glimpse of her destiny to end up on the island. Of course she would have viewed them as dreams about a place that is totally different then the hell hole sand trap she was stranded on.
