I think it's pretty well established that Rey is the central character. She's the new hero. The new 'Luke Skywalker' of the series. Finnis a big player in the series now and shows another perspective in terms of his view on 'Who is Luke Skywalker' (to him). But in regards of the central heroes journey, that's about Rey. And so the question I posed is why do we need Rey if Luke is still knocking about and as powerful as people make him out to be?

My answer, that ties in with his absence, is that he is:
1a) A prisoner. Taken captive by the KOR.
1b) A prisioner. Taken captive by the KOR. And his powers have been depleted/drained from him by Snoke whilst in captivity.
1c) Was badly injured by the KOR but escaped and remains in isolation until he can pass on what he has learned (he can't fight himself).

    or that he:

2a) Is old and not as powerful as he once was (aka Kenobi and Yoda in the OT).

to me Finn will be the Kyle Katarn a really good force user but will have to fight one of the Knights of Ren by himself but will win

Even if the title is a bit Tabloid headline esq this is a great thread *& this close to release it good to find somewhere to just speculate & not have massive spoolers thrown in to general talk

as for Luke being captured or wounded its possible because we just do not know what the knights of ren are capable & would go a long way to answering why he seams to be absent from so much of the film so the last scene is not a meeting but more of a discovery of Luke by Rey
