    Then it would defeat the purpose of all of the movies before TFA .

    I don't think its confirmation that Luke is her father or not her father. JJ is famous for lying to the public about his characters when their true identities are figured out. Remember Benedict Cumberbatch NOT BEING Khan? Of course he's going to say she's not Luke's kid... ESPECIALLY if she is.

    I like the theory that she is the grand daughter of Obi Wan Kenobi. She seemed to mirror his actions in ANH quite a bit. I love all the speculation... but if I was a betting man, I would bet on Luke being her father.
