First let me say, big time speculation here...

Could the part where Rey storms off be because she just saw that her brother was involved in the death of the padawans? Maybe when it happened he was masked and she was unconscious. Maybe Ren takes his mask off and looks at Rey laying there and thinks she's dead or can't kill her and then leaves. This is the moment we realize that Kylo is responsible and Rey cannot deal. Then the attack comes etc.

Cut to the words "a long time ago in a galaxy far far away..."
Cut to shot of the savannah and a lightsaber lands from out of the sky. A hand picks it up...

That could be how we have a time jump to explain how Luke's lightsaber falls from the sky. Remember Besin Cloud City was in the atmosphere, not space. The saber fell through the clouds to the planet below and was picked up by the farmer below.

 

I was under the impression that Bespin is a gas giant, like Jupiter....with no solid core...

 

Wookieepedia lists Bespin, Endor and Yavin Prime as gas giants. Interesting. That maybe kills my theory which means the saber falls from the sky for another reason.

As long as the 7 look something like this... Really love Viers stuff, too bad he isn't doing concepts for this movie.

 

I don't know if it's been discussed, but has anyone talked about why in today's piece by Ward he referred to Rey several times as Kira?

 

He said it's because she is referred to as "Kira" on the call sheet.

 

If this isn't Episode 7, I'm going to start a gofundme to get this made.

Yeah, that was a mistake. During filming she was called Kira on everything. People who worked on the film still call her Kira and it is easy to forget.

Wait, is this sarcasm? Iron Man is almost 50...Hulk is almost 50...Ant Man is almost 50....
Yeah, they made these movies for a wide audience, but stayed true to the source material. Their movies take iconic comics, and change just enough to keep it fresh. Look what Fox is doing to FF or what Sony is doing to Spiderman... they're trying to update the movies for a younger generation, and it's not working.

I have no doubt that JJ is going to take what's worked for SW in the past and make minor tweaks. Disney bought this franchise for $1billion...they're not going to let someone take risks that take the story too far from what's worked in the past.

EU it was. Not sure what is canon now. The Mcquarrie concept sure looks like Cloud City above a green savannah type planet.
