Since the set and toy leaks we all know that the Solo movie has of course some new stuff for us on hand in regards to never before seen vehicles, droids and troopers alike. But with those teaser and trailer out there, we now got real material to discuss.

Some will make sense, other could be disputable like – another new/old TIE fighter?

    newTIE_02.jpg

OK, this one is at least twice as big as the standard model and has an extra twin-gun pod next to the main cockpit with bigger guns. Well that’s… innovative!

    newTIE_01.jpg

    newTIE_03.jpg

I admit, that at least from my point of view, the new speeders and (imperial) bikes look kind of retro-cool! And what that kind imperial trooper is riding that bike? One of those unconfirmed ‘Range/sniper’ troopers? The armor has more black parts then a standard Stormtrooper, but also it does not look like a scout either.

    soloChase_021.jpg

    soloChase_022.jpg

The ship in the upper left – could that be a Gozanti Class Cruise or a Gallofree Medium Transport?

    soloSpeederChase.jpg

And what’s this for a ship – a prisoner transport with those gangways at the lower rear? It seems to heavy fortified be in line with the look and feel of the Gozanti Class Cruisers – which makes perfectly sense from the point in the timeline.

    prisonerTrans_02.jpg

    From the leaked concept art:

    prisonerTrans_04.jpg

    prisonerTrans_05.jpg

So what are you guys excited about when it comes to the new tech-stuff?

Damn, I obviously missed the big one as it was directly in front of my nose: The huge monorail freight train! This one is riding with large wheels on a track winding over impassable terrain is really unique and new to the live action movies! A real nice addition indeed.

    FreightTrain.jpg

Actually, it’s one of those freight containers (full of explosives?!) from the freight train that this ship drops while speeding away with the gang of swoops and bikes.

    CargoDrop.jpg

    @Lock_S_Foils, @Rieekan, @Ruralfarmboy : Guys, what’s up with that new TIE!?

Looks more like a cargo lifter and it most certainly is Imperial. Though it is piloted by Han Solo and crew in the new movie.

I'm still wondering what the extra function of this speederbike is because the empire already has a lighter variant. Perhaps this one is more powerful and armoured.

    Hmmm... some interesting questions.

There was some speculation yesterday that the TIE may be a trainer, based on Solo being at the flight academy, but now you point out the gunship elements I wonder if it could be a proto-TIE Interceptor... before they evolved to the TIE Advanced style wing formation?

If the Speeder sequence takes place on Corellia as thought, then while the rider looks like a Trooper variant, is there any chance it could just be a Corellian cop?

Might be a recon variant with an extra sensor pod which also serves as a weapons platform. It also looks like the cockpit is bigger than those of the normal Tie's. Parhaps a two-seater. Two pilots sitting next to each other. That's usually how these reconnaissance crafts work.

That sounds pretty plausible... or perhaps its two-seater config is for recon/gunner training, like was suggested before. Either way, colour me intrigued... that's two new thus-far unseen TIE variants in the two anthology films!

@Star Dude Well, I've been lookin' and lookin' at that TIE.
And still just yet, I've No idea.

I have been lookin' at it in a historical kinda way, tryin' to figure it.
Like how the Star Fortress Bombers are heavily influenced by American WW II B-17's.
    Meybe @Lock_S_Foils will have somethin'.

Yeah, it is another 'new' variation.
    @Lazarus Dei
The Galaxy's a Big Big place. Like on Scarif, the Empire would have specific needs in/on/at specific areas. Wonderin' if this may be the case ?

I am interested in Lando's droid.. I wonder if it is a take on Vuffi Raa, but being more humanoid than what it is the the Lando Calrissian novels from the 90's.

This trooper really intrigues me! I’m quite sure he’s imperial. It looks like he’s losing a E-11 blaster rifle or very similar. That bikes really looks like well armored.

    mysteryTrooper_01.jpg

He’s even tough enough to get up to his elbows after the crush. Look at the helmet: The facial part is very basic Stormtrooper, while the cranium looks like the – tank driver?! Also the rest of that armor is a very light version.

    mysteryTrooper.jpg

Thinking about the new TIE: The secondary pod with the two big guns seems to have about the same size of an original TIE cockpit. So the main one is much bigger (while having no weapons?). So far, I don’t have any clue why.

Absolutely my thinking! I likes that little alien droid very much back in the olden days. Also this one looks not so...
    LandoDroid.jpg

... Matrix/Cthulhu like then the original one.
    Vuffi-Raa.jpg

I‘m also intrigued by these humanoid fellas:

@Star Dude - this seems to be the Range Trooper, but while it has a very similar helmet design it doesn't have enough black in the model to be the biker... so I'm thinking the Range Trooper may be in the sequence with the snow

I think that's from one of the BTS snippets rather than the trailers though @Ruralfarmboy, so easily missed!

This is probably a mountaineer. Which makes sense, because he's called a 'Range Trooper'. It looks like a mix between a snowtrooper, a shore trooper and a tank trooper.

I was wondering: does the empire deploy battledroids? We know they deploy the K2SO models for security and crowd control, but would they also have standing forces. Not saying that these are some sort of Battledroids - more like maintenance droids - but I am wondering about this, especially because the concept art book to rogue one tells us that they originally imagined Krennic to be escorted by robot soldiers when he comes to extract Galen Erso. The only thing that remained of this concept were the robotic voice changers of the Deathtroopers.

The helmet reminds me of old Clone Trooper art.

They're the same droid type that was seen in Jedha City in Rogue One:

@Star Dude My son @Bloo Leeder and I have scoured all of our databases, cannot find that TIE configuration anywhere. Would love to get that ship in SW Armada, or maybe LEGO?

I've just found out that the train is called The Conveyex. The name was in the tags of an image I downloaded from an official source.

I noticed the "big TIE" ain't got it's "chin" blasters. Just those 2 big boomers in the smaller pod.
