    8+ years after ... hmm.
Now, I really ain't one for much speculation but one's a good one.
From the Teaser, the startin' scene appears to be a 'recruiting station'?
I'm gonna haveta think that it's mostly if not all recruits and conscripts.

Haha, that's what I thought, too.

You know, it actually also kinda reminds me of how the Jelucan ridgecrawlers were describes in Lost Stars.

It may start about 8 years after ROTS but it looks like they may be some time jumps during the film & as @Ruralfarmboy mentioned Han is at a recruiting centre so I would guess the vast majority of imperial troops are Non Clone by the time of this film & I would guess any clones remanding have probably been shunted off to the more mundane tasks in the imperium.

I think you’re absolute correct when it comes to line soldiers.

But it would be cool to see an older Clone as instructor for Han in basic training. Or as some military advisor or in the spec forces, as these are the roles clones still could occupy if I’m not totally mistaken.

One clone was even a platoon sergeant (?) 13 years after RotS in the novel Battlefront:Twilight Comp. on Sullust with the designation SP-113 - of the Imperial 97th Stormtrooper Legion. (stormy 3)

@Madmartigan I messed up the reply function so you might not get this reply. Anyways, I'm not entirely sure if the concept art had already made it through concept lock when it got leaked. Especially since the images were leaked before the new director got on board. I think after going through one or two more tweaks the initial concept art ended up looking like the ship in the image below which I am pretty sure will be piloted by the 4 armed alien. This would also explain why they wen't through the trouble of creating such an elaborate CGI model for the alien. There will probably be some sort of action sequence that requires extensive movement which is why they decided to go with CGI instead of animatronics.

See what we got here: https://thecantina.starwarsnewsnet....perial-hauler-and-the-arrestor-cruiser.54252/

So now we know that thing is called Imperial Hauler – which seems to be able to rotate it’s side wings upwards.

And then there is the Imperial Arrestor Cruiser – Based on an original design from ’77. That’s retro indeed!

The Arrestor looks awesome! I love the old SW ships because they appear to focus more on functionality rather than fancy designs. Reminds me of our real world spaceships. Ralph MQ had a background in industrial design if I remember correctly and it heavily influenced his concept art and subsequently the visual language of SW as a whole. The PT lacked this realistic look in some aspects and I am glad to see a return of less stylized designs executed with the modern technology that is available these days.

    Just a guess-

They look like some variant of Snowtroopers. Also, "range" could refer to "mountains".

We see snowy mountains in the trailer, along with the hover train.

My guess is the boots are magnetized or have some other modification that allows them to more easily mount the top of the train and/or scale mountain walls.

That's an interesting idea! I assumed they were something like scifi snow shoes but your explaination makes a lot more sense.

That could be, too- I mean, they're believably big enough to distribute the mass of a trooper anyway without even needing to be "techy" (well, believable enough for Star Wars).

Regardless of what they are, I'm really digging this design. Even so, I don't hate that each movie is introducing new stuff, but I wouldn't mind seeing some stuff repeat every now and then, too. Seeing Death Troopers or a U-Wing in this one wouldn't be a bad idea, even it's it's just a cameo.

You can clearly see the hangar bays – I think for swarms of TIE’s. Which brings me to the question, how long/large this ship will be, and what’s it’s role and mission profile?

    arrestor.jpg

Those dishes. do we here have three giant tractor beam generators? Or Gravity projectors like with the Interdictor-class Cruisers? The name ‘Arrestor’ goes well with the ‘Immobilizer’ 418.

Tractor beams of a Star Destroyer look like these:

The hangar bays were always there. Colin Cantwell even designed them to launch his original ships he designed for the Empire. You can see in my report I just wrote about it. https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/201...imperial-hauler-and-the-arrestor-cruiser.html

Also, good point about the tractor beams discs. :)

I think that we would see more recurring vehicles if the fans weren't so nitpicky. Your U-Wing idea is great but if you implemented a U-Wing in a SW movie fans would be asking "Where were these in battle X that took place Y years after battle Z where we first saw them?". For some reason many fans seem to be under the impression that characters and spaceships are obliged to be present at every event in SW unless of course they are dead or destroyed (which is probably one factor which sealded the fate of Jyn Erso and crew).

It's either tractor beams or a first attempt at locating vessels in hyperspace. Whatever the Arrestor's purpose is we migth get to see it during the Kessel run.

Collapsible skis / snowboards perhaps? About time we see some Willy Bogner ski action in a Star Wars film. :D

And I like the vertical rank 'sergeant' plaque (and don't mind that we see Imperial security officers with just three instead of four blue bars).
In Rogue One they tried to introduce way too many variations, add to this we'd never seen these before.

Solo looks as if they are now doing a rather cautious / conservative approach. That would be nice, IMHO.

The new vehicles look great. I love that speeder. I'm getting a Neill Blomkamp type vibe but it looks like it fits in well with the era. I'm excited to see other vehicles.

I Don't wanna be a big meanie-bo-beanie but that TIE Fighter with the extra weapons mod is the ugliest starfighter I've ever seen.

I guess they don’t call the Fairchild-Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II a ‘warthog’ for nothing ;)

Well, it seems that the arsenal of vessels for military logistics within the empire is steadily expanding, although those from the times of the clone wars (like the Theta-class or Eta-class ‘Jedi ambassador’ shuttle or the Nu-class attack shuttle) will be no longer in active military duty with the empire I guess..

    Original troop/freight transport: Lambda-class Shuttle
    lamdda.jpg

    OT Extended Edition: Sentinel-class Shuttle
    sentinel.jpg

Rogue One: Zeta-class shuttle and Eta-class supply barge
    zeta.jpg

    eta.jpg

Rogue One: TIE Reaper troop transport/ dropship
    reaper.jpg

    Rogue One: Delta-class shuttle
    delta.jpg

Yet with that Imperial Hauler we got another ship that reminds of an AT-AT/AT-DP by design, and seems to be able to haul big containers that else are loaded onto trains. I wonder what separates this one from the mission profile of a Zeta-class shuttle when deployed. Just because both transport different types of container? Maybe it’s just an older design?! And why would a cargo hauler need a gangway for persons in the lower aft-section?!
Might it be not space-flight capable like a Cloud Car or Snow Speeder?

I agree mostly but I think that it depends on which legions they confirm to be shown in the film, because some of them at this point would still have a few clones in surely. (stormy 2)
