I assume it is canon, but who knows. What it is, though, is mad cute with great character work and fun stories.
I believe it is set sometime during the High Republic era (although I sort of suspect it is a little before, as one character seems to be a sort of baby-proto-nihil, or something, but that might be a coincidence).

(And I dare say, it is WAY better than Meg 2 :p )

As @MBWilson said, this show has a darker and old school tone as we saw (badly) in leaked trailer and as producers said. And if its a kids show but they treat kids viewers as clever and adult people with cool scripts (like a lot of the good movies from the 80's) then give it to me now. My only concern is the kid alien although maybe am totlly wrong and he/she will be so cute. Seems Max Rebo son lol. Would have prefered 4 kids but certainly the rest of them seem have some charisma. Can't wait!

Doesn't take much to be better than Meg 2. I'll take barney over Meg 2 to be honest

I grew up with those movies in the late 80's and 90's, I love Stranger Things and did see the leaked trailer but don't know just thought it would actually end up being a straight up kids show for some reason and didn't know about those interviews and about special guest appearances

Though it's not been confirmed, Star Wars Meg on YT shows there appears to be a second season of Ahsoka planned (via Deadline). See here:

Edit: Obviously it's not allowing me to repost, but search "Star Wars Meg" on YouTube and you'll see it.

Absolutely loved the series as a whole, yes I could nip pick, Thrawn being fat, still unsure about Sabine being able to use the force, Ezra's beard looking a bit fake, but over all it was easily my favorite like live action series star wars has done. Its space wizards on an adventure fight other space wizards, that's what I want from Star Wars. Its the first time on tv for me star wars didn't feel small, I don't know if this show cost a lot more then previous star wars tv shows, but it felt like it did. Some of the shots were stunning.
I liked the casting of the rebels team they did a great job of bringing these character to life, I love the moving to a new galaxy and the possibilities that brings up, love the live action Nightsisters, the mortis god hints, Ray Stevenson and Ivanna Sakhno were awesome (gutted we arn't going to get to see where Skoll's arc went), the costume choices for the storm troopers, The use of Anakin was great. Just a great show, made me a very happy star wars fan.

Only down side is that there is a slight limitation as to where the series can go as we have seen the sequel trilogy and the inability to use Luke, Leia and Han. But there is enough scope for them to play with, really excited to see where this goes.

I'm surprised and a bit disappointed that nobody caught this and gave me hell
What I meant was Jon Watts, the Skeleton Crew showrunner.

Jon Waters would be a very, very different Star Wars.

That's because I suspect Filoni rewrote and reedited the final episode following the death of the actor who played Baylon.

    Hmmmmmmm......
    Do you, now?
Granted, it is a difficult and delicate topic, but honestly, I think it was one of the first thoughts after the appropriate mourning period. Even before this idea, I had a fear of "what if the character and/or performance isn't good?" Luckily, that isn't an issue that I think is even debatable. Both were amazing.

So, my friend, how much alteration do you think was done? What do you think was the original ending for Baylan? Do you think the changes had any serious impact on Shin? Maybe Morgan Elsbeth? We have a long time before we get any continuation, and we will probably never get the whole story about the BTS happenings re: Ray, so let's speculate and debate.

I doubt anything was change. They'll probably just recast the character. Why would they rewrite the story leaving him in it and teasing the next part of the story?

I suspect the actor playing Baylon was so darn good -- and his role so intertwined in a key subplot moving forward -- that Dave hesitated to follow-thru with the original plan since he'd have to replace him with a new actor. You might ask: Would that have been a big deal? I don't know but keep in mind that the Favreau-Filoni creative team deep-faked Mark Hamil rather than recast Luke Skywalker.

I just don't buy that Baylon's story arc we watch play out through the season led to the 'nothing' ending we got.

A couple of things here. I lean towards the same idea as @DailyPlunge mostly because IF they were gonna change Baylan's arc after Ray passed, wouldn't it have been wiser to actually kill the character off or even give an ambiguous ending? The series leaves Baylan with an almost guaranteed continuation, which makes it far more likely that nothing was changed.

Secondly, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that Ray could be CGI/deepfaked. It really hasn't been discussed much, and I am a proponent of recasting over deepfake in most cases, but if what we saw was written and shot as it was prior to Ray's death, then it's possible that a suitable end or transition could be done in S2 through technology. If the character is meant to go beyond a handful of scenes, I believe they will recast.

Another reason I do not believe that anything was changed, is because it seems as though SO much time and effort was spent on this series in Post Production, I feel like by the time of his passing, the season was way too far to completion to change without causing a major delay.

I disagree. Baylon introduced the show's live-action audience to the Mortis Gods which have a role to play in the future. In no way (at least in my mind) does it infer that Baylon will show up again in the future. Personally, I doubt it.
Me too. But I think it's different to deepfake older stars like Mark Hamil than someone who is no longer with us. Yeah, SW had done it before, but I very much doubt they'll ever do that again.
Maybe we'll get the scoop someday. But IMO, the changes were mostly cuts and a few CGI tweaks.

I bet on recasting Baylan Skoll. Deepfake was done on various occasions, but mostly for "episodic" speaking roles with various success, not really for action characters, with the approach shifting to be more respectful towards Carrie Fisher, by just cutting and splicing unused footage, which to be frank had uncanny feeling about it, but I fully respect the decision.
With the exception being Luke Skywalker of course. I think one of the factors here is that Mark Hamill is alive and well, making it morally sound and still they had to cover the face of a double for action scenes, to push the technology further in Book Of BF. But still, Hamill's machine voice emulation sounds cold and more machine like than the actual actor, with hint of emotion. Which makes it a cool gimmick in a show, but I am not sure if such an option is viable for main character with more screentime.
What makes Baylon such an outstanding character for me is again Rey Stevenson's full on acting. The most respectful thing towards the actor would be to leave the character be, as emulation would be a huge stepdown, usable cut parts probably nonexistant and someone doing body doubling/face and voice acting in Rey Stevenson's mannerisms with his face pasted over, I feel that won't fly nowadays.
The most respectful thing towards the character itself is full recast. Tough torch to pick up and continue on, but it's not like we are out of talented actors.
The options that I am the least fan of but will understand, extreme and milder one:
    – Baylon goes through some physical transformation behind the scenes, either transcending or adopting some mask.
    – The classic of using the actor's likeness to illustrate Baylon's fate in non speaking scenes, either dying or moving/going on somewhere.

We'll see, but with a grain of black humor here, LFL has actually a better track record of handling dead actors than the live ones.
Hence I believe and hope that they will do Baylon's actor justice and hopefully it won't be through a book or comic.
