She was actually fighting three people at the same time.

No, I don't think this was only for misdirection. We also saw Adam Driver fighting against two people simultaneously.

 

I love the cape, the texture looks amazing and the way it hangs on his shoulders (as seen on the cover of the sticker book) is very cool. Your theory is interesting, but I don't think there's such meaning behind it. I think it's just an image makeover, possibly so that the costume would fit better when he's unmasked.

I'm wondering whether or not he'll remove it for fighting. The Vanity Fair BTS showed that the cape is... problematic.

 

I honestly (initially) assumed seeing Rey fight multiple people was the Knights of Ren... but given that they're showing Storm Troopers with ignitable melee weapons maybe she's fighting them (which would be anticlimactic for me for a number of reasons) but I assumed when they showed Adam Driver in choreography with a couple of people that it would be a flash back to him killing the Jedi at Luke's academy.

But I also assume that they chose to share that footage to spark just such speculation only to misdirect later.

They use symbolism so much it's hard for me to believe that the cape won't mean anything (the helmet did... at least in my opinion). Truthfully I'm more excited to see what causes Kylo to smash the helmet... there are theories that have been posited here and it'll be interesting to see how close/far off we were when the movie actually premieres

 

Yes. I have speculated that before. Especially with the line in TFA where he says the lightsaber belong to him.

 

What little I've heard about the history of the saber, he took it from someone/someones as Kylo Ren and Maz stole it from him.

 

I thought maybe Luke had actually already recovered the LS, and kept it as a relic. I also assumed that it was kept secured but visible at the Jedi academy where Ben could lust after it (viewing it as an artifact of power and an heirloom). I think Ben viewed it as his, and probably tried to earn it by proving he was worthy of it. May even be part of what puts friction between the two. Just a theory.

 

Kylo Ren fighting a couple of people could be his training under Snoke.

 

As @JarJar already mentioned this scene could be Ren's training. I also think he's fighting Snoke's guard in this scene and Snoke is watching him.

Could be. Heck, could be both (they're not mutually exclusive), I guess we'll see. All I know is that it will make for exciting sequences

 

I think your cape theory is pretty interesting, and definitely symbolic about something! I tend to look at it as just another thing that Kylo can do to be more like Vader. Maybe he feels like that by killing Han, he has "earned" his cape?

 

I know it's the safest bet anyway, but now I'm 99% sure Kylo is confronting Snoke in this scene. Here's what I noticed in the BTS video:

It's definitely the same location in both shots. Looks like some kind of throne room and I don't think that Kylo visits any throne room other than Snoke's.

But here is the final piece of evidence:

We know the Praetorian Guards are supposed to be with Snoke, so if Lego used this location as a backdrop, it seems to confirm that this is Snoke's room. And this is exactly where Kylo is standing in the BTS.

Sorry if that's old news, but I haven't seen it pointed out yet.

 

Kylo's smashed helmet is really at the same location then. Great find! I haven't noticed that before.

question's... when does it happen during TLJ?, does he smash his own mask? or does it happen during a fight?

 

It's shaping up to be a really cool scene and I think it's very early in the film. My pure speculation is that Kylo will seem all cool during this confrontation with Snoke (probably our first look at Snoke in the flesh), but then he leaves and goes ballistic inside the elevator smashing the wall lights (glass on the floor) and his helmet. And thus we will find out that he's still uncomfortable with the dark side. Man, I really hope that's the case, but again: I'm just speculating.

Seeing all the Praetorian Guards promo materials and merch bums me out, because I expected the Knights of Ren push instead... And by that I mean the guys from Rey's vision, because who knows, maybe these guards are technically KoR too.

I think it will happen in the first act after Snoke's training. And yes, Kylo smashes his mask on his own.

 

Could it be that his meeting with Snoke is not nearly as satisfying as he expexted? He thinks he passed the ultimate test, killing Han, but Snoke does still not fully believe in him. He tells him to capture Rey and Ren fears that she is foreseen to take his place beside Snoke. He leaves the scene outraged with all hatred focused on Rey and Luke and feels betrayed once again.
He thinks about doing the dirty work for Snoke again, but not with the goal to deliver Rey. He constantly develops his own roadmap to power (and fails at the end).
Sounds a bit like Vader. But hey, what should he go for, if not to become more powerful in TLJ?

 

Hm, I don't take this "training" that Snoke talked about in TFA literally. I assumed it's going to be something like: "Here, take this cape, your training is now complete". I wouldn't like them to spend screen time on some kind of training montage. I'd rather see Kylo get down to business right away.
