So... this could be much ado about nothing... or maybe it's an indicator. I admittedly don't know who controls the imdb pages, but in Episode 7, Boyega was pretty high up in the casting list, this time around, much lower and Ridley is much higher.

1. Is it a leap to assume that this next Episode will be primarily about Rey and there won't be the same screen sharing as before between Finn and Rey?
2. If Finn is lower in the casting is a leap to assume that maybe he doesn't appear until the latter half or the end of this movie?
3. Maz Kanata will be in this film. Without her Cantina... what will her role be?
4. Poe Dameron was very low on the Cast Chart last time and didn't make an appearance on the Official Movie Poster, what are the odds that Poe is featured on the movie poster this time, and Finn is not? And if Finn isn't on the movie poster should we take that as a sign that there may be some sort of reveal in Episode 8?
5. Snoke is low on the cast list as well... would it be a leap to assume there will still be no Luke vs Snoke confrontation in Episode 8?

 

the order of the cast on IMDB is partially controlled by an algorithm based on "popularity". actors with lots of hits go to the top.
this is why you sometimes see movies with popular actors in very minor roles at the top and the leads buried under them.
the order will fluctuate so long as interest gets spiked in different directions.

 

Like FN-3263827 said, the current IMDB Episode VIII cast page is based off the actors imdb popularity until the official cast list is sent out by Disney. Notice that Gwendolyne Christie is high on the list because of the recent Game of Thrones season 6 premiere.

 

So they finally gave Finn A Lego Resistance Rises short movie like they did with 1. Poe, Ackbar, C-3PO, Kylo, Phasma
2.Han, Chewie, Rathars
3.Maz,Bala-tik,Tasu leech, Lando
4.Rey, Unkar Plutt

Anyone notice the difference between Finn's lego short from Poe's, Han's, Maz's and Rey's?

 

No, but Phasma is badass as usual.

I don't know. Is it the "destiny awaits" line from Phasma at the end?

 

Actually I was going by what Audiosane and a few others used to say about Finn not getting any personal wins. He can't even get any in his own Lego short.
Whereas Rey gets over Unkar Plutt and his thugs, Han gets over tie pilots, Maz gets over vengeful pirates and Poe gets over Kylo and Phasma's plans.

 

Oh yeah, lol.

Finn is even on the substitution bench. Guy cannot catch a break.

 

100% correct. And let me add that even at the height of the spotlight shone on him when the movie opened and he and Daisy were everywhere doing interviews, Boyega was never any greater than #6 or # 7 on the IMDB TFA listing. Perhaps not even that high. He was NEVER above Ridley, Driver, Isaac, Ford, Hamill, Fisher, Gleeson and even Christie I believe. Took him a year just to rise above Nyong'o. For awhile he made the top 20 of the overall ranking of all actors, a rarity for non-white thespians. His fellow TFA castmates all got that bump too for awhile with Ridley staying at #1 for weeks. When buzz of the movie faded Boyega plummeted from his temporary high standing. Meanwhile Ridley, Isaac, Driver and Gleeson have stayed up in the top 50 or higher.

 

So true, so true. It just shows how much harder Boyega has been working to get the fan base on his side. From showing up in random movie theaters on opening day to meet fans or appearing in children's hospitals dressed in character. And the sad thing is, he'll still be less popular than his costars even if he has the 2nd most screen time.

 

Well, let's see what happens AFTER Star Wars.

 

yeah, I'm sure his star meter will rise once the press tours start and all...it's like how my IMDB page for myself was at roughly top 150 for almost a good year twice a few years ago and then last year.

 

So I'm having 2nd thoughts. When Maz crawled across the table to tell Finn that he had the eyes of a man that wanted to run, I initially thought there was an outside chance that this was maybe a reference to Han Solo. It felt like a stretch because when she said it, Han is not shown reacting, but of characters that come to mind that wanted to run initially Han came to mind. But Maz's exact quote is:

"If you live long enough, you see the same eyes, in different people".

But let's remember, Maz is over a thousand years old. When she said "live long enough", are we meant to infer that she's talking about from her own perspective (which would presumably be at least a few hundred years)? Do we know anyone from much earlier (presumably much earlier than Episode I timeframe) that wanted to run, that Maz may have known?

Or is she talking about from a human perspective in which the "live long enough" prospect would presumably be in decades and likely within the Episodic timeframe (i.e. Episode I - Episode 7)? If so, could she be referring to anyone else besides Han, who we might know from the Star Wars universe that wanted to run?

 

More top movie roles to raise their status.

 

What's sad is that he's probably a better actor than anyone on that list except for Harrison Ford. I don't know if any of you have heard of Friday Night Lights, but this sort of reminds of Michael B. Jordan from that show getting supporting roles while Hollywood was busy trying to make Taylor Kitsch happen.

 

What he didn't say is that he or the Story Group didn't fill the writers in about it, though.
