I think Finn will save rey from snoke, and kylo might be giving his hand out to Finn because it looks like a similar area they are in, not saying that's what I want that from kylo, but it's pretty obvious he's not reaching his hand out to rey unless he's reaching to luke

I can kind of see where you're coming from. I don't hate her mechanic background, but it is Star Wars, not Star Society. In a functioning society we need people in non-glamorous positions doing essential work. Doctors won't shine very much on Star Wars either even though it's vital function. I was speaking mostly from a character profile, it doesn't give her much autonomy and ability to operate with direct impact in the universe where she lives (where there is constantly war). Would have liked to see someone who was a mechanic that was signing up to soldier (like Luke was a farmer signing up to be a pilot)

I actually thought the depiction of the Jedi Order was excellent and the precursor to how we get to the ST (that the Jedi philosophy needs to be revisited because it's not exactly working and perhaps is divergent somewhat in comparison to it's origins). And since I don't think we've ever seen the Star Wars universe in a period of extended peace, it seems only right that many of the major players are politicians, and perhaps more importantly, war fighters.

Disagree that Star Wars was really about normal folk out of their depth stepping up. Star Wars central story lines always follow people who are exceptional in some way; even in Rogue One. Normal has become a euphemism for non FS on this board, but even when Finn is compared to Han as a basis to say he doesn't need to be FS, I always want to point out, that Han was not "ordinary"... he was an exceptional pilot. Poe likewise, an exceptional pilot. And so accordingly, if we are to follow Rose more than one movie, I want there to be something exceptional about her that we see in the process of her stepping up. That's just my take.

 

I think in reality its so that she has a different set of skills to Finn, so that she is of use to him and to their plot. if they were both soilders he'd have little need of her as he is also a soilder. so its probably just a balance thing, so when he is like 'Shut down the trash compactors' she can do it. and vis versa, he will have skills she will need to rely on, one would imagine.

 

I think they didn't show much finn because his movie plot is the only thing that's even slightly different from your normal star wars fare and they don't want to spoil it.

Just saw a Tv Spot for TLJ and it was pretty much a condensed version of the trailer but there were one or two new shots and one of them is Finn's face during the Phasma standoff. Nothing special but looked cool.

 

Finn isn't playing games.

 

We know Finn is on the Supremacy with Rose and possibly DJ too. Since he and Phasma meet in a grand reunion, I wonder if Finn and Kylo do to.

I think Rey is going to kill Snoke. Lor San Tekka said in the beginning of the movie there can be no balance without the Jedi. Luke is the last of the Jedi, and Snoke wants him gone. Right now there is an imbalance, and if Luke dies then things would really get bad for the entire galaxy. I think Rey is here to correct that imbalance. One way or the other. Either the dark and light get there stuff together or Rey will destroy the galaxy. She is a force of natute.

Absolutely. Not so much save Rey, because she might have the potential to destroy the galaxy. However, if the galaxy wants to be saved then someone needs to show they are actually concerned about her. There is only one person who can do that.

 

based on the writing thus far, rey will likely save herself, then save finn from phasma. (i'm not totally serious, but man it wouldn't be shocking if that happened.)

 

Save herself from what? I see her killing Snoke.
