I appreciate your response, but I know full well what I was doing.
The conversation was getting a bit cyclical, and if people wanted to discuss Finn's romantic endeavors more, they could move there. If the his relationship status is integral to his character development and the plot, then by all means keep talking about.

Hmm, this conversation is making me think of the Yuuzhan Vong. Then I remember we're back to the one jedi thing which has gotten stale, and then I get disappointed all over again.

Back on topic, what are these comics you are referring to as I would love to read them. Any books/comic books/animated series that are released with no "Legacy" title, are canon.

Worryingly enough his relationship with Rose may be integral to his character development. I say worryingly as TPTB may intend Finn and Rose to be their new Han and Leia romance to mirror the OT, a fun lovey dovey storyline to give a break to the Force stuff.

I'm hoping they're going to throw me a curve ball with this one and have Rose die tragically but something about tapping into the Chinese market with an Asian character makes me cynical about this prospect.

Rose's role wasn't race specific, just like role of Finn and Rey. Before even The Force Awakens premiered there were rumours of a female role for The Last Jedi and all the actresses mentioned in these rumours (Tatiana Maslany, Gina Rodriguez and also I believe Gugu Mbatha-Raw) aren't of Asian descent. Moreover, Kelly's parents are Vietnamese, not Chinese. If they were looking for someone to pander to Chinese audiences, they would have picked a Chinese actress (like they did with Donnie Yen and Wen Jiang.) Also, don't forget that Asians (or people of Asian descent) are one of the least represented ethnic groups in American mainstream cinematography.

Also, including a diverse set of characters is about tapping into minorities' market in general. It just pays off to have a diverse cast and I'm not only talking about China. Yes, that includes Finn. Yes, that includes Poe and yes, it also includes Rey.

Force-immunity is something that's no longer a part of the picture with Star Wars, as it directly goes against the idea of what the Force is to George Lucas. Hence why Thrawn doesn't have a Ysalamir on his shoulder and why the Yuuzhan Vong that were in that one episode of The Clone Wars that never got made were significantly different from their Legends counterparts in that regard.
Not quite true. For one, the label you're looking for is Legends. For another, the LEGO-related materials and the novelty books don't have that label either, yet they aren't canon. A full list of what's canon can be found here. (The comic in question is an IDW story, as he already pointed out to you.)
As far as I can tell, the IDW comics aren't canon. EDIT: Nope, they're canon, or at least this one is. I feel like I may have read something suggesting that certain stories might not be canonical, although the non-canon stories should be pretty self-apparent.

Really? Perhaps I'm mistaken but I remember that there were two female roles rumoured for TLJ that were merged into one (KMT) neither of which were originally intended for Asian actresses but with TFA not performing as expected in China that a conscious decision was made to include an Asian character. Boyega is British yet he is adequate for the purpose of tapping into the African American market, I think a Vietnamese American could achieve the same thing for China.

And sure diverse casts are good (except in Historical films/dramas when or where it doesn't make sense) but it shouldn't impact upon potential story developments. I'm talking about "x shouldn't happen because they shouldn't treat women/LGBT/black/asian etc. that way" see Rey turning to the dark side because she's a role model to young girls, I guess white boys are s**t out of luck with Kylo..... but that's enough of that stuff, this thread (and others) has seen enough of it.

There's a problem in your logic here - you're applying John Boyega appealing to the domestic African-descended (be they African-American or African immigrants) market versus Kelly Marie Tran appealing to a global Asian-descended market (which, granted, may also appeal to Asians in the United States).

If they wanted to get more Chinese money into Star Wars, then they would have hired a "name" Chinese-born actress for a role, and likely one with skills in speaking English - like Joan Chen or Michelle Yeoh. Not an unknown American actress who is making her big-screen debut with this film.

I guess technically he doesn't use the Force Against Han either unless you count him committing to the dark side as Force usage, I think it would be a stretch though.

everyone has the force/midichlorians in them so...the short answer is no. He probably wasn't trained/doesnt have enough midichlorians to use the force but he can feel it

I don't think this is necessarily true. Appealing to identity does not require an appeal to nationality. Seeing someone of Asian descent on the screen may be sufficient to provide people who have not seen themselves represented within the Star Wars universe, a vehicle by which they could.

Jabba the Hut showed immunity to the Jedi mind trick in the OT and I think Watto did as well in the PT. So no force immunity does not go against Lucas's idea about the force. It's at least partially possible.

Being a species that is naturally resistant to mind tricks is not an immunity to the Force. "The Force can have a strong influence on the weak-minded." Maybe this lil purple animal had some sort of null effect on the Force in this situation that masked Finn.

Yeah I know it seems more of the TFA hi-jinks but I still think it's worth speculating the same thing Finn did... why did that work? Was Kylo just being careless or could he really not tell Finn was there? And if he couldn't tell, why couldn't he? It seems strange that he would not sense that that was Finn, but take notice of Finn on Jakku.

And I'm absolutely not saying that it can't. I am, however, saying that the motivations for her getting the part had a lot to do with the strength of her audition and her chemistry with John Boyega and little to do with her being a person of color. It's worth noting that at least three other names popped up for potential actresses to play a new female role in The Last Jedi - and none of them were Asian.
Right. Toydarians like Watto have a resistance to Jedi mind-tricks. However, this does not mean that they cannot be influenced by the Force in other ways. "Immunity" would imply that you wouldn't budge if someone like Yoda tried to Force-push you, or that the Force would not be a part of your being (itself impossible, as Star Wars physics seem to indicate that every living thing in the GFFA has connections to Midi-Chlorians and the Living/Cosmic Force).

Except Kylo 's ren sensed the little creature being in the ship and this is why he asked phasma to help with the situation. But he didn't sense the creature when Finn tried to protect the creature and did the thing with phasma 's mask.

kylo noticed finn on jakku, but did nothing. He looked and walked away. Shouldn't have he sensed that Finn refused to obey and felt disgusted or afraid of the FO and what the FO ordered? Maybe Kylo's ren noticed Finn, because he had a weird behavior, but didn't sense anything and walk away because there was nothing to worry about fn 2187 because kylo ren sensed nothing.

If that was the case then he certainly wouldn't know a stormtrooper by his official number, and knew that he escaped with the Resistance pilot. He did sense something. Telling Hux who it was pissed him off. How could Kylo know before Hux?

True. He must deeply regrets not acting on FN 2187 on jakku now.
