Official Finn Episode VIII thread

I gotta say i'm pretty disappointed in the entire movie. First I will say that they did a good job movie making Finn go from afraid and wanting to run to his being willing to kill himself to defeat the FO. But a lot of the movie had really odd storytelling decisions. And I don't just mean Finn but almost every character. That being said I do feel that they kinda have to make Finn force sensitive now because they effectively killed Luke (he disappeared so he'll return as a ghost for sure) but you need another familiar face to be part of the new order or else you risk not having any connection to the characters. We'll have Rey and originally maybe they intended Leia to be one as well. I'd add Maz to the group and then Finn to round it off so that we actually are emotionally invested in members of the New Order.

 

They don't need Finn now. They have that random kid at the end.

 

If they didn't need Finn then Rian would've killed him off. Random kid is awesome, btw

 

I agree. For a brief moment I actually thought they were going to kill him, and then I thought when Rose knocked him side that she would fly into it (which would have been a more fitting end for her then surviving).

 

Stable boy is taking finns place in the big 3.

 

I don't think that boy is a literal addition to the story.

 

It wouldn't surprise me if we saw that kid being knighted at the start of Ep. IX (I assume there will be a time jump, there kinda has to be and will probably be a significant time jump). or Rian is already preparing the protagonist of his trilogy and it will be that boy in like 20-30 years.

 

This...I really think Rian is prepping his trilogy with the stable boy as a part.

 

Well, Finn isn't part of the big three anyway : it's now clear that's just Rey, Poe and BB-8.

 

I would just like to point out (sorry if someone already has) that one of the big debates among the people on this thread was what the biohexacrypt was and what it had to do with Finn and in the end it was literally a throwaway line that meant absolutely nothing to Finn's character and was most certainly not an Elysium-like spinal enhancement. Kinda funny that we all assumed it was something important.

 

Haha the backlash is getting bigger everywhere. Good to see the majority reject this bad fanfiction of a movie. Spread the word : TLJ is trash.

 

If Finn died at the end it would have been an uproar, POC never makes it to the end or end of trilogy. Lets see what Jar Jar Abrams has in store for Finn's story arc in 9.

 

I would have been upset if they killed him (although the scene wouldn't have been terrible) but do you want to elaborate on " POC never makes it to the end or end of trilogy" because Lando was in Jedi, Mace was in all three prequels, Morpheus was in all three Matrix, Falcon, Fury, and War Machine are still going strong in the MCU, Black Panther is just getting started, Storm was in all three original X-Men films and then returned again for Days of Future Past, Blade had his trilogy, Ving Rhames is still in Mission Impossible, The Rock and Tyrese in Fast and Furious, Heimdall in all three Thor, Levar Burton and Michael Dorn were in all four Next Generations Star Trek movies, Nichelle Nichols and George Takei were in all of the Original Series Trek movies, Will Smith in Men In Black, The Rush Hour trilogy is based around a Chinese and Black duo, so I don't really see where you are coming from on that one. If I missed a major franchise please let me know because off the top of my head this is what I came up with.

Oh I know the stereotype but I find that rarely things like that are true.

 

IMHO people cling to stereotypes when things don't go their way whether I'm right or wrong thats my opinion
