During my LOST series marathon and reaching season 5, I found something very interesting and it could mean something for Luke, Kylo/Ben and Rey:

What I found intriguing was the book Jacob was reading, while Locke was thrown out of the window by his own father and badly injured:

    "Everything That Rises Must Converge"

The title Everything That Rises Must Converge refers to a work by the French philosopher Pierre Teilhard de Chardin titled the "Omega Point": "Remain true to yourself, but move ever upward toward greater consciousness and greater love! At the summit you will find yourselves united with all those who, from every direction, have made the same ascent. For everything that rises must converge."

Sorry for posting it in 2 threads, but it may be relevant for several people and I guess mainly for Luke when you remember this interview. ;)

beginning at 3:30 and Luke being on another plane of existence. ;)

Luke looks like an alcoholic right now whos waiting for his next whiskey. He didnt even recognized the falcon? Must have been drunk as hell. And why is he just standing there staring at the ocean while his friends risk their lives and snoke destroys an entire solar system?:D But it is expected from the useless jedi! Yoda ( hiding in a swamp) and obi wan ( hiding in a desert) did the same! :D yoda not being able to kill sidious and obi wan not finishing off vader is proof of their uselessness(pwned).

Who says he didn't recognize the Falcon? He hasn't even spoken yet.

Maybe he was staring at the ocean because he he was hungry and wanted some shark steaks.

Obi Wan wasn't technically hiding he was watching over Luke.

As for Yoda...didn't you know he was born and raised in Louisanna? Dagobah reminded him of the good 'Ol days of down on the bayou eating grillee gator and Cajun food. He was on a long vacation, man. Then Luke spoiled it.

Hahar. I see old fart yoda needed a timeout. As for obi wan wachting over Luke surely was a noble task but being in his prime i wished he would have gone after lame vaders ass finishing him off for good. After that doing some harakiri Jedi secret move killing sidious and himself .empires done.(obi-wan 2)

Has anyone considered the "awakening" was Luke finding and/or completing whatever he sought at the temple? Yoda and the crew are force ghosts and could have been training Luke the entire time. If Snoke is Darth Plagueis and can escape death, hide from Sidious, create Vader, and then reanimate himself then Luke certainly needed further Force knowledge.

I could see Epi VIII being a Force history and a 'showing off' of sorts. How the Force is defined and implemented into society going forward is crucial as the survival of the Jedi is also in question.

I like this idea. I know JJ has specifically stated both Rey and Kylo(?) were "awakenings" although the film allows for different interpretations - I can also see Luke "awakening" generally to another call to adventure or a Master role, and Finn "awakening" into a decision about where he stands and his moral code. We are for sure going to get some background and answers on The Force, and its future. I mean he's at the ruins of the First Jedi Temple for The Force's sake. I also think that it is likely that Episode 8 will flesh out the Chosen One prophecy since that has never been touched in new canon or in the EU to my knowledge. Also Ach-To maybe another name for Tython, in new canon, The Bendu made the Ashla and Bogan (moons of Tython) canon after all.

I think he conveyed alot and made sense about Luke and other things.

Luke never lived by a set of rules, or a code really. He followed the force. His failures makes him wise actually.

Luke thought at one time as others have.

Yoda: I am wondering, why are you here?
    Luke: I’m looking for someone.
Yoda: Looking? Found someone, you have, I would say, hmmm?
    Luke: Right…
Yoda: Help you I can. Yes, mmmm?
Luke: I don’t think so. I’m looking for a great warrior.
    Yoda: Ohhh. Great warrior.
Yoda: Wars not make one great.

Wars solve nothing. Knowledge does though.

Agree. Loved the part where it says: "Unlike the standard hero in a blockbuster adventure story, he wins not by finding the courage to fight, but by finding the courage not to fight."

I finished LOST series marathon yesterday and I have a feeling that Jack from LOST is Luke in the ST. Many things fit. Jack is the main candidate to protect the island, but passes on the duty to Hurley as his successor after finishing off the Man in Black and before he reestablished the holy light of the island and dying in the process. Like Luke, he also first denied the 'call' of the island and left the place. But then he became ill and realized he had to return. The smoke monster originated from the island and was cought there for long time, so maybe the early rumors of Luke guarding something on Ach-to carry some truth.

Ohh and for all of our 'saving Ben' folks, even this was part of the show and the former villain of 3 seasons Ben was accepted as the right hand of Hurley in the end. :p

A few pics to show even visual similarities:

I'm lost understanding this, Luke is not lost, he just didn't want to be found but thanks to Rey he is found for a purpose.

yep, like Jack in LOST series did not want to return to the island, but was convinced by someone to return also for a purpose. :)
