I can't wait to see what training methods he will put Rey through, she can handle it for sure.

That well-written article kind of got me thinking about how Luke is probably fully aware of Han's death. He heard the engine of the Millenium Falcon, and seeing Rey approach him rather than Han was probably the final clue. Moreover, it means that the beginning of Episode VIII, Luke will be dealing with the consequences of having made the opposite choice of what he did in the Empire Strikes Back. Rather than run to his friend's rescue, he decided he did not have the means to have a positive influence on the conflict.

It's a good reversal of TESB that is realistically reflective of Luke's change as a character and the consequences thereof. I imagine from there on Luke struggles with having to either eventually strike down Kylo Ren or turn Ben Solo back to the Light, a discussion that we ourselves as fans are having, and that Luke had with Ben and Yoda on Dagobah. I'd love a scene between Luke and Leia discussing it, akin when they discussed their family and connections on Endor.

In short, I think Luke is fully aware of the lives lost while he's been away. It's got to be why he's looking a little grumpy when we see him. Whether he could have done anything to stop all of that is up for debate in the first place, but regardless, it's on his mind, because he's still Luke Skywalker, after all. He may have let go unlike his father, but it still kills him.

luke should have a good excuse for being a loner. Perhaps he needs a power up .perhaps he already fought snoke and couldnt defeat him ultimately losing ben solo to him. That cut on snokes head could be inflicted by luke!

    http://makingstarwars.net/2016/10/a...ke-skywalkers-look-in-star-wars-episode-viii/

"You may remember we ran a piece last April describing the look of Luke Skywalkerin Star Wars: Episode VIII. Since that time many fans have taken the description and ran with it and we loved seeing the creative designs people came up with based on that description. Since then the costume art has taken on a life of it’s own and certain aspects of that are being attributed to the original report. Before we move on too far, I wanted to get the record straight on what we were seeing back during the filming of Star Wars: Episode VIII.

We were able to get Lumberjack Nick to do an accurate representation of Luke Skywalker’s Star Wars: Episode VIII costume. This depiction is from a training sequence where Rey is frustrated with Luke’s teachings. Nick decided to go with the mechanical look of the hand because we couldn’t tell if Luke had a robotic hand or the black glove in this sequence. He also didn’t appear to have a lightsaber at all but was holding either a thin spear, thin walking stick or a piece of junk so we gave him a placeholder object for his hand in the picture. The point of the photo is that you can see what the design is for Luke’s costume used in those rainy sequences between Skywalker and Rey. Rey’s costume is also accurate:

In the film, the costume is apparenlty just filthy most of the time. Skywalker is more like Yoda on Dagobah in terms of style than the white regal costume he wore to meet Rey at the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This costume gets a lot dirtier in the film than the cartoon depiction by Lumberjack Nick. You will also notice there isn’t really any belt or anything for his lightsaber. It makes us wonder if what our friends out in Ireland saw was actually a saber or not during the filming as there seems to be some contention as to if Luke ever actually uses one in this film."

This doesn't sound good and like a 100% ESB copy for Luke = Yoda.

Not to play devils advocate, but doesn't this stick look like the thing the guy was holding who was stabbed in Rey's vision?

Curious to know (and I'm sure it's already been discussed) if Luke actually leaves Ach-to.. The more "leaks" I hear about, the more confused I guess trying to figure out when Rey and Luke "train", when it's Finn's Story, Kylo's and the resistance. Hmmmmm.. Really stumped, but hopefully, we'll get more hints soon. Hope Luke at some point does leave and heads to the Resistance base.

You know what a cool twist would be? If luke was a part of the knights of ren and was horrified at what he created.

I hope not, but you never know what the storygroup decided, especially if they go the route of 'Luke killed Rey's parents'.

Luke and Rey obviously leaves Ach-To.

And it seems there will be kind of a parallel to TESB in that everyone is seperates on their own journey.

Finn off on his own, Rey on her own and Poe.
