I'd say to a certain extent he does.

 

I think Luke has powers beyond belief, but he will use it in limited occasions throughout the film. This will be beneficial for two reasons:
1) the less-is-more strategy. Luke has a commanding presence, which is why so many fans lost their minds in VII when all he did is stand there on the side of a hill. Luke will unleash his powers only when he needs to (like yoda.)
2) less physical strain on Mark Hammill (he is getting old.)

It suddenly hit me like a bolt of lightning:

What if those ach-to action scenes filmed in Ireland with the Knights of Ren getting beaten up and thrown about by Luke and Rey is actually a training exercise, an elaborate force vision put on by Luke (or by a Dagobah type of cave)? Rey must learn to face off with her enemies before she goes out to defeat them for real.

What do you guys think?

 

That's an interesting take, if Rey's encounter with Kylo or the KOR is actually a vision a la Luke in the cave. Hmmmm.

 

Yep it is, I always get teary eyed, it reminds me of what could have been.

 

lol well considering the entire set piece in in the open i also doubt it's "Fake" .

 

That story is children's adaptation of A Weapon of a Jedi: A Luke Skywalker Adventure. Luke did not have any love interest in this book as I remember it. He did have a love interest in Heir to the Jedi but that character died.

 

- Rey's mom obviously isn't an alien

- I doubt we would meet rey's mom in some book since Rey is important to the story.

 

About couples, I can see Finn and Rey having something. I don't know if Luke will have some girlfriend (or boyfriend, why not?) post-ROTJ.
Luke doesn't need to have someone to get a good backstory before TFA, there's a lot of mystery about his jedi knowledge, his temple and students.

 

Yeah maybe he didn't ever even have a romantic relationship...who knows??

 

Yes, someone can be happy without a romance (and I think Luke had some years of peace and happiness for a time, like Leia and Han)

 

I somehow don't think he would be with a guy but he doesn't seem like the type to be with anyone, really.

Especially if he's constantly risking his life, finding the force, meditation, etc. it would be hard to spent years, if not decades, on a relationship (guy or girl) and a family
.

 

....My uncle never married, every person has a lifestyle. And I still do not understand what Han and Leia have to do with it, every trilogy had a couple (Anakin/Padme, Han/Leia and now probably Finn/Rey).
