Yes, and it should be an interesting dynamic.

I wonder if the fancy "patchwork" clothes MSW has apparently reported Luke wearing have to do with a flashback? Unless Luke ends up in Canto Bite (??!!) I can't guess what the context would be for a poncy outfit.

It sounds like MH has only been spotted on the island filming location (correct me if I'm wrong!), so if Luke actually leaves the island, the other locations must be interior shots, right? I'm not up on how filming movies works XD Maybe TLJ will be flashback-heavy? More interesting than standard exposition, certainly.

If Rey's "family" was cast, either they get extremely little screen time or the casting was done super-secretly. I would guess such casting would have to be! Although I have no idea whether secret casting is ever done for movies? (Of course, I'm going on the assumption that we'll see her family and not just hear about them. I mean, TFA kinda made a big deal about this being important to Rey...)

He was also at Pinewood at the same time as Carrie going by the picture Oscar Isaac posted. Since they both appeared to be in costume they were both filming at the time. So either they were conveniently filming separate scenes at the same time or Luke leaves the island at some point. I suspect it is the latter. There also is the quote from Oscar in Vanity Fair where he says

“So to be there, and to watch Mark revisit Luke, particularly in these scenes we were shooting towards the end of the film, was bizarre and jaw-dropping,” he told me. “It’s like when you see an old band re-unite and go on the road, and they don’t quite hit those high notes anymore—though in this situation it’s completely the opposite. It’s the fulfillment of where your imagination would take you when you imagine where Luke would go, or what he’s become.”

This leads me to believe that Luke leaves Ach-to at some point in the movie.

I wish I had some optimism that Luke will get off the Island and reunite with his sister, but the pessimist in me says that won't happen in The Last Jedi. I don't think a Skywalker twin reunion is ever going to happen in this sequel trilogy. I don't want to even get my hopes up, to only be disappointed when it does not happen. I just hope Luke Skywalker will get to use his green lightsaber and show his Jedi Mastery.

I had interpretted that lil paragraph from the Princess Leia novel to imply that originally, Leia and Luke were intended to survive the trilogy, too...:(

I dunno about you guys, but Luke's reaction to Leia's death will affect me a lot more than anyone else's :( I'm sure it will have a big effect on Kylo, but Luke and Leia's relationship means more to me.

Sweet light, can't Luke, at least, get a happy ending in the ST?

Bob Iger: "[Mark Hamill and I] both swore an oath to not give any secrets about the next film. But I'm gonna give one away: This is Mark's best performance as Luke Skywalker to date. And you will see that I'm right." (D23 2017)

He seems to be pretty sure about that. I sense a vague smell of an Oscar campaign...

It will be interesting to see. It goes along with the red lettering in the title of the movie. They obviously picked that color for a reason. We now just need to see why.

I think the usage of the colour red in the film symbolizes a lot: family, love, evil, dark side, war, death ... It reminds me a lot of M. Knight Shamalman (sp?) and his use of colour in his films.

The practical answer isn't because it is just a promotional poster and nothing should be read into it.

If you want to tie it to the movie, it is obvious in the BTS vid that he possesses it for a short time as we see her hand it to him. She obvious uses it in the movie as we have seen her training and running with it.
