Official Rey Episode VIII thread

I thin k it's been explicitly stated that the "other" is Leia .

 

Well, it doesn't turn that way. Leia is as force powerful as a youngling.

 

So is Rey from what we've seen so far and yet she dilated extraordinary power .

 

No offense but Rey seems to have slightly more accointance with the Force than Leia.

As long as Leia didn't train as a jedi she can't be considered as the "hope", not sure she could move a spoon, this is not what I call of hope for the galaxy.

Don't forget than Lucas ideas are old stuff.

 

The "Hope" was to train Leia in case Like failed...Lucas's ideas are all canon except for The ST outlines he had but Yoda couldn't have foreseen DECADES into the future or he could have seen the fall of the Jedi and avoided it but its called "Hope" for a reason as in a potential for something and being optimistic and Rey already "knows" The ways of The The Force so she's already past being "A Hope ."

True but they wouldn't retcon the films .

 

That wouldn't be the first plot hole.

 

Rey's kill count for Episode VIII: 7 stormtroopers, 4 knights of Ren, two tie fighters and one stardestroyer.

I liked the idea of Rey having to dive underwater to scavenge something. I also think the idea of her and Luke searching for some sort of force artifact could be cool if done right. Now that she's on a water world with Luke that hosts the very first Jedi Temple, I can see her having to dive deep down there somewhere at some point to recover an ancient Jedi artifact that Luke needs to help him better channel his force sensitivity to unravel a mystery of some kind. Maybe who Snoke is and where he came from?

It'd be cool to see some of those concepts used in this movie. Also I wonder if she and Luke will butt heads over what to do about Kylo (if Luke holds true to his OT-form and refuses to give up completely on Ben that is)? It could be interesting to see.

 

i can totally see that happening in viii. she's likely out for vengeance or, rather, to finish what she started.
Luke would not approve.

 

So...when do u think we'll start seeing behind the scenes set pics and in character of the cast? I can't wait to see what Rey, Finn and Poe will be like in VIII. Especially Kylo.

 

I think that we might start to get some maybe over the summer, or into the fall. But I feel like they'll try and keep this movie largely under wraps for this year, to avoid interfering with the marketing for Rogue One.

 

Yes I believe that they will not let VIII interfere with rogue one once that film rolls around closer. Man...as much as I love this place..it's going to be hard for me to stay away from spoilers. I want to see all new sw films with no knowledge of anything going into the theater So I dunno. Lol. I don't want to leave because I enjoy the time I have already spent here.

I think Yoda's line on ROTJ about "another" does refer to Leia and it would make sense if Rey is her daugher. Maybe Yoda presumably saw a possible future that is similar to the one in the sequel trilogy.
