I think it will either be Kylo or Gleeson with the secret heritage, based off of SDCC and early leaks

And maybe Poe isn't in the Tie fighter with finn when it crashes. Maybe they split up do to some event or circumstance. Maybe they crash, both are knocked out, Poe wakes up first and is like "damn it's hot" and ditches his jacket and leaves ditches Finn (they aren't exactly friends). The Finn wakes up and is like "WTF where's that dude?.....Damn it's hot in this armor...(takes off armor)...great now it looks like I'm wearing pajamas in the desert. Guess I'll take this jacket....hey lucky me, we're the same size....."

Plot holes? We've heard that Kylo may be Solo's son and kill him on the third act

Obviously not going to contain any spoilers. Not much info about TFA either. Just thought it was worth the share.

On a side note I think Poe Dameron will be one of my favorite characters. It seems like he is going to play a hot shot pilot, reckless, witty one liner kind of guy.

    My guess is:

Poe will be from Yavin IV

He will be fiercely loyal to Leia

He has a habit of showing up just in time to save butts

He's cut from a standard alpha-male hero template, deep aspiration, brave, loyal and skilled. He'll probably have the least personality of the new heroes, but also gets to kick the most butt.

He's not related to any major OT character.

He'll be a very popular character, particularly among young boys.

He'll stay a major character through VII to IX.

so when oscar isaac talks about preparing for the role of poe dameron, he says jj asked him to use an x-wing miniature model and and imagine he is flying it. was that a hint pointing to the scene in a new hope where during the leia hologram scene luke is doing the exact same thing with a miniature spaceship model meaning poe is luke's son ? (x-wing)

I think Poe is kind of a "one-trick" pony in this one, and his "one trick" is that he is bad ass with an X-Wing. I think he's the most sympathetic to the New Republic's cause of the main trio and will slowly evolve into more of a "Leia" type, a General, strategist, keen supporter of the Republic who perhaps discovers his skill with the Force very late in life and only uses it in subtle, instinctive ways like Leia.

He might just become my favorite character, although I think the film is largely designed to make you fall for Rey and I'm pretty certain that I will.

I like the way you used that ''one-trick'' maybe he is all that but isn't anyone who wants to fight the first order.

Does Poe and Rey's isolation from each other seem weird to anyone else?

    http://makingstarwars.net/2015/07/s...s-and-the-happening-at-kanatas-castle-part-2/

If Rey is kidnapped when MSW says she is, then there is definitely no opportunity for her to meet Poe or Leia until after the climax of the film is already over. That's an entire movie with two of the three most important characters having no interaction whatsoever.

Does this not seem a little odd and disjointed to anyone else? It's like Han and Leia not getting to meet until the medal ceremony in ANH.

I don't get the feel of Poe, Finn, and Rey as a New Big 3 if the movie plays out the way it has been described. Instead, it seems like Finn and Poe are sometimes a pair and Finn and Rey at other times. But Rey seems weirdly disconnected from anyone other than Finn or Han, and Poe seems disconnected from anyone other than Finn or Leia. It's strange.

That is just one of many inconsistencies in the MSW treatment, the more details he provides the more obvious it's becoming that he is wrong on many aspects.

I've brought up before that the first time according to MSW that Leia meets Rey on-screen is also the last time and they say goodbye. It doesn't compute.

A stunt double trailer for Rey (Kira) was reported as in the vicinity of Greenham Common which is the Reistance Base. But the first time Rey allegedly steps onto this base is at the tail end of the movie when the action is described as over. So that doesn't add up either. I can understand the stairs of Skellig Michael being dangerous and in need of a stunt specialist but not this.

The thing about Poe being from Yavin is that Yavin IV looks like an abandoned backwater moon in Episode IV and that is why the Rebellion has their base there. Are we suggesting that settlements were established on Yavin? That there were settlements on Yavin? That Poe is a military brat or something?

One could speculate that maybe Rey's stuntwoman also worked as an extra in scenes where Rey did not appear.

But it's definitely curious. If Rey is present at the Resistance Base while everyone is gearing up for the final battle, that suggests that the events of the film deviate significantly from MSW's shot list.

To go back to Poe: I will be really disappointed if we are given no hints in TFA as to how Rey and Poe relate to one another as characters. Will they bicker, will they have chemistry, will there be misunderstandings btwn them, will there be sparks, etc. It would be a missed opportunity, IMO, and a long wait until VIII to finally get those answers.

I think in the MSW info you don't see a lot from Poe because he is the hot shot, confident Han like character and when Harrison came back and was given a bigger role, he replaced some of the stuff Poe was originally going to do. I think in VIII we will see more from Poe and the development of the new big 3

I'm still hopeful Poe will wield a lifgtsaber as his character progresses.

Interesting enough, Oscar said that the role/character he originally was up for was changed along the way...

Poe along with Finn and Kylo is probably one of my favorite characters leading up to TFA. I hope he gets a good amount of screen time and that they'll give the newbie non-force user some memorable scenes. I want to say he will, but he might be relegated to a Lando position in the movie, which likely won't be a bad thing anyway. I'd like him to, like someone else said, interact a good amount with the other new heroes. It seems a lot of the film will be dedicated to Han, and Poe is basically doing his own thing in the second half of the movie according to the MSW synopsis, although regardless of the MSW synopsis' validity I'm sure Poe will get his time to shine since he's really the only one the audience cares for who's flying around during the battle over Maz's castle and the battle over Starkiller base.
