I feel like not enough people acknowledge how much better Hayden is in Revenge of the Sith compared to Attack of the Clones. He's still not the best but I don't think there is any scene where he's so bad that its distracting, at worst he's "just okay" in RotS which is a massive improvement. Also his scenes with Padme are much better than they were in AotC.

I still don't understand why people hate the Phantom Menace so much. Qui-Gon and Obiwan are some of the best jedis and actors in Star Wars, Darth Maul is arguable one of the best villains in Star Wars. The last lightsaber scene is also one of the best fight scenes in Star Wars, and the music is some of the most iconic of the series. I also thought pod racing was pretty cool. Yet everyone says it's unwatchable. I guess it's a little different for me because it came out when I was about 12 so it was my New Hope movie for the older generation.

The only movies unwatchables to are AOTC and ROTS.
TPM has the best sountrack, special effects and villains of the prequel era. The acting dont ruin the movie like in AOTC and ROTS.
Unfortunatelly Jake Lloyd as Anakin is a little bit anoying and Jar Jar is hated by most of fans (not me).

Just realised that the Han Solo in this film wasn't particularly scoundrel-ish, or the bad boy type. In fact he was too nice and unlike the Han of the OT. Might knock my Solo score down a notch from 5/10 to 4/10 because of that.

The reason I hate TMP is pretty simple - Most of the worst things about the prequels come from TPM. I'd say more, but this might not be the appropriate thread for that.

It's kinda cool and funny that no one has the exact same rankings.

Mine - ESB, ANH, ROTJ, TFA, R1, SOLO, TLJ, ROTS, ATOC, TPM

The Best - ESB, ANH, ROTJ (This is more like a 3-way tie. I could rank any of the 3 at #1)
The Good - TFA, R1 (Fun movies that didn't harm the OT)
The Disappointing - SOLO (So many wasted opportunities in this film)
The Terrible - TLJ, ROTS, AOTC, TPM (TLJ could fall further down the list after E9, but TPM will always be the worst)

I like TPM in general but it has a big chunk of flaws that really could and should have been dealt with before release. Little changes here and there would have made the movie much better.

For example: Jar Jar and the Gungans were too silly in general, Anakin was a child instead of a slightly older teen/pre-teen, the coolest new bad guy since Vader (Maul) gets killed off (I know, I know, they later made Maul survive... save it--he should have made it to the next PT movie), goofy fragile cartoon robots instead of a fearsome/imposing droid army, the whole trip through the planet core is brutally bad pointless filler, Qui Gon could have been written to be much, much cooler (rebellious/dynamic instead of boring/stiff), especially with Liam Neeson's acting chops, etc.

Those subscribing to the Machete Order make a strong argument that TPM was pointless to the overall PT story. It did introduce Senator Palpatine but it would have been great to see more of Palpatine behind the scenes creating his plans and manipulating his way to power.

Everyone has different perceptions, likes, dislikes, etc. Here are my rankings for favorites:

My rankings of the movies, most favorite on down:

    1. ANH - Nothing will ever top the original for me, it is personal.
    2. R1 - The movie that set up and ties directly to the original. As a military guy loved they dedicated a movie to the unsung rebel grunts.
    3. SOLO - Really loving this movie the more I see (and hear the score). The score is IMO the best of the Disney LFL movie scores.
    4. TLJ - Just got it on 4K so watching the crap out of it. So many epic scenes.
    5. ROTS - The Anakin/Obi-Wan story is one of my favorites...
    6. TESB - Han nearly at his best (other than SOLO)….Han-Leia....introduction of the Imperial March....
    7. ROTJ - Epic space battle at the end was incredible
    8. TFA - Best part of this is watching the trailer reaction mashups on Youtube
    9. AOTC - Slightly ahead of TPM
    10. TPM - Duel of the Fates....

I loved all Star Wars movies... and I think it may become difficult to rank them from now on since so many Star Wars movies are getting released and may appeal to different types of audiences. I liked "SOLO",... it just didn't work for me as some other episodes worked for me in the past. I am pretty sure though, it will appeal to many fans.

    Only my opinion here:
1- The Last Jedi (After several viewings, it is stil the one that resonates the most for me in my life right now)
2 - Empire Strikes Back (The one that resonated the most for me in the past)
3 - ANH (Still the best Standalone Star Wars movie)
4 - TFA (The perfect soft reboot)
5 - RO (The best Star Wars prequel and the most intense scene I've seen in a Star Wars movie)
6 - ROTS (Underrated prequel movie with its flaws but so fun to rewatch)
7 - ROTJ (Overrated OT movie IMHO. Luke vs Vader & Emperor being probably the best scenes in the whole saga)
8 - SOLO (A good action movie but lacked a little soul)
9 - AOTC (Spawned a whole universe for a generation of Star Wars younger fans... clone wars...etc... but the movie lacks focus and acting is below average)
10 - TPM (Great great work from John Williams but THE Star Wars I will often skip in a marathon)

You really can't rank them anymore. It's becoming an endless stream of "content".
My favorite SW remains the 2nd Draft screenplay. Seriously.

I'm not much for specific orders, but for me, I'd put it on the same field as the original trilogy. Those are the only four Star Wars movies in which I was interested in all storylines, and the story was one that specifically connected with me. I really liked the basic, Yojimboesque story of Solo. Basically simple narrative, with twists, and driven by character relation, with a protagonist with whom I really connect. I thought it was really well-written.

Rogue One and Revenge of the Sith on the same field here. While I liked both, neither connected fully with me, and I'm not much for "Isn't this despressing?" Star Wars finales.

Then I've liked the other movies but there is always a general 50% interested, 50% indifferent feeling going on. Such as in the prequel trilogy I was interested in Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan (especially Kenobi in the latter two of the prequel trilogy), Palpatine's storyline, the Jedi stuff. But when it came to Anakin and Padme I was indifferent. I didn't hate it or think it "ruined it", but I just was not as interested and in the back of my mind was a "Go back to Kenobi".

The sequels have been much the same, except interest is in Rey, while disinterest comes with characters like Poe and Finn. "Go back to Rey" is constantly on my mind.

Ranking the Star Wars movies is quite difficult because all have their own ups and downs. Some are so different to others that you can't really compare them with each other.

    TESB
    ROTJ
    TFA
    ANH / ROTS *
    TLJ
    SOLO
    R1 / TPM *
    AOTC

    * depends on my mood

I think you've just written the next film's title:

Star Wars: The Sith Empire's Phantom Force Returns Hope to Clones of the Last Solo Rogue.

    Call Disney immediately!
