    Yeah, I definitely don't trust MSW as 100% correct. Just doesn't add up.

    R2 is always with Luke.

    You guys are aware that MSW reported that Luke and R2 are together when they mourn the death of the padawans, right? Thats a flashback. You are agreeing with him.
    R2 and C3PO are together during the events that unfold in present time during TFA, that's also according to the reports that MSW currently has.

    Looks like R2 sees some action. Setting is very death star-esque.

    QUESTION: If R2 is with Luke in a speculated flashback...and Luke is in hiding....then how would R2 manage to get into the scene above or hang out with C3PO? Wouldn't he depend on some type of transportation to get away from Luke's exiled planet?

    I guess R2 can pilot Luke's ship back to Leia by itself? I'm not sure.

    It would probably also have scene descriptions in it.

    How much worse would it be if it was the opening scene, involving Luke and Artoo in a classic X-Wing over Jakku?

    At what other point in the film is Luke going to do that a second time but on the opposite side and during daylight instead of night? I believe it is most likely Luke in the trailer and the behind the scenes shot, but I don't think it is 100% a certainty.

    Could be that it was filmed from the other side and flipped horizontally. They do that sometimes.
    Though I'm not sure if that set would go that far around.
    Just a possibility.

    the image in the trailer isn't flipped. You can tell by looking at R2. The behind the scenes photo also isn't flipped, like I mentioned before, you can tell that's the case by looking at the tiffani thiesen shirt.
    Also, the camera that is seen in the behind the scenes picture is set up to pan, not to move in.

    There's that rumor that Han and Chewie sneak around the First Order base trying to take down the shields... it might make sense if R2 is the one that really saves the day and takes down the shields ... all the while being hunted by the Chrome trooper (who seems like the new Bounty Hunter archetype and someone to try and foil Solo).

    Although the pic of R2 also looks like it might be on the Star Destroyer... but my bet is that it is either the underground First Order Bunker or Leia's base.... That's no small moon... well... actually... it IS a moon...

    If we have learned something from the prequels is that droids can be shut down, you can't trust them. Which reminds me, what happened to obiwans R2 unit in ep2? He lands in geonosis, sneaks in, and abandons his ship with his R2 unit? Does he come back for it? Or is he still waiting to this day?

    That pic is definitely from filming the scene that was briefly featured in the trailer. They just weren't in the same positions in that pic as they were about to be at that time in the scene that we saw in the trailer. Definitely Luke and R2 on Jakku though, as some rumors have stated. Luke was late to the party, or was simply watching Ren, for some reason.

    Well, I'm not so sure about it. Sure, that's R2 and that seems to be Luke. But like I said, wrong time of day and I'm not an expert, but the camera is set up to pan not to move into Luke's hand. They would need a different camera rig for that.

    No. I mean, the difference between optically zooming and move in is pretty noticeable. At least, I can easily tell because I have experience with virtual cameras.
