Who is Rey according to "the guy from the industry" on Reddit:

Rey's mother was a servant on a First Order ship. Her father was a Stormtrooper. Rey's mother is shown using the Force. Rey uses the force as a very small child and her mother fears she will be taken by the First Order if they discover this. She flees with Rey, leaves her on Jakku, and then is captured. Both her mother and father are put to death when they won't give up the child's whereabouts.

This all revealed in a vision Rey has through meditation.

That's really interesting when you think that Rey is introduced in TFA in the DARKNESS of a STAR DESTROYER and has STORMTROOPER lenses...

Which is BS because of course any thing you mass PM is going to be copied and pasted elsewhere when you attention bait (troll) yourself like that - they're deliberately creating recruits to carry on their trolling elsewhere.

Yeah but the introductions of Rey and Ben are symbolic of their origins:

    Ben:

Comes from the LIGHT of the shuttle and goes to the DARKNESS of Jakku.

Tekka: "The First Order rose from the Dark Side. You did not. You cannot deny the truth that is your family" (The family of Ben = Light side, Leia, Luke, Anakin redeemed)

    Rey:

Comes from the DARKNESS of a Star Destroyer and goes to the LIGHT of Jakku.

Rey has probably dark side/Empire/First Order origins, Jakku has ties with Palpatine/The Empire in the new canon books and is near the Unknown Regions where the remnant of the Empire/First Order are.

So even if this guy is a troll there could be some truth in his "bantha poodoo".

Never thought of it like that but you're 100% right. A lot less margin for error now.

There is an alternative interpretation of these scenes. See my response to Bandini's observation on p. 47 of the Rey Solo thread: https://thecantina.starwarsnewsnet.com/index.php?threads/rey-solo.52391/page-47

As for the "spoiler", usually when there's a revelation of a character being related to another, the latter had been introduced to the audience before. This is so that the audience's reaction to the revelation would be "Oh, it's them!" rather than "Huh, who are they?" For example, in Game of Thrones, Jon Snow's parents were not revealed until season 6, but already in the very first episode Raegar Targarian and Lyanna Stark were mentioned and discussed by the other characters. Then there's Star Wars OT, where Vader and Leia's relations to Luke were not revealed until later movies, but the very first scene of ANH involved Vader and Leia. Anyway, it's telling that in TFA there had been no mention of someone being executed by the First Order. An example of a more plausible revelation would have been that Rey was LST's daughter, and that the real last name of LST was actually Kenobi.

I'm not sure this has nothing to do with family. In these scenes, we have the mask with the mechanical breathe going to Hell but on that dive in the deep, it happened something ( an awakening - the light shot by Poe and Kylo Ren sparing Finn who's terrorized ) and then Rey is the light behind the mask and she goes to the light.

There is a heavy chance that Rey is Kylo Ren's awakening. I wrapped up this with the conflict Vader / Anakin but it can easily work alone. This is the same "entity". The two sides of the same coin.

I still don't see how "lineage" is relevant to this. It's like the Force balancing itself with beings, it could work for everyone. You don't need to be from a specific family to be someone gifted.

I was reacting to the argument (from others, not from you) that Rey's introductory scene indicates she has dark-side parents. The scene consists of two parts. People tend to focus on the second part, which has Rey moving from darkness toward the light, while ignoring the first part, which has Rey descending further down into the Star Destroyer (moving toward darkness) to salvage things. I brought up the alternative "religious-metaphor" interpretation, which explains reasonably the entire scene (i.e., both parts). Now this alternative interpretation doesn't indicate Rey's lineage, as all it says is that Rey has been depicted as a "savior".

This is true for a "modern" story. In a "traditional" story, however, a hero with supernatural power is either a son of a god (e.g., Hercules, Jesus) or a member of a special family (e.g., Harry Potter, Jon Snow). Star Wars PT and OT certainly have the "traditional" story pattern (dressed up with technology and space battles). The question is whether the ST is a "modern" story or is it still a "traditional" story.
