    When would he have thought she was a Skywalker, why would he have thought it and when would he have realised he was wrong?

    You’re massively over complicating this. It’s obvious he means Luke. Suggesting that he meant Rey makes no sense - grammatically or story wise.

    When? In the past when he first warned Kylo about this.
    Why? Because that's exactly what happened in the past. Palpatine thought he had tricked the force by turning Vader to his side, he wasn't aware of Vader's offspring and that blew up in his face. Maybe Snoke is afraid of another unknown Skywalker offspring.
    He might have realized he was wrong at the same point as Kylo, he seemed to know what Rey had felt in their connection and since he created the connection I don't think it's far fetched that he can monitor it. Or perhaps she is indeed a Skywalker and just wants Kylo to believe she is not.

    There's simply nothing in the film that supports this idea. Why would Snoke assume she's a Skywalker? Why would then assume she's now not a Skywalker? This isn't one of those lines in a movie that's complicated.

    You people have so muddied the waters, that I don't even know who is debating what at this point, so I'll just leave my opinion for anyone who cares. When he he said that he wrongly assumed that Skywalker would be the Light to meet Kylo's dark, Snoke was talking about Luke. His assumption was wrong, Rey surprised him. She is 'nobody'.

    I think the confusion is how can that statement by Snoke be interpreted any other way?

    Because this theory assumes Rey is in fact a Skywalker. If you are 100% convinced this is not the case then I don't see the point in discussing.

    I don't mean to be obtuse, but I'll ask again... Is there a language barrier here or something? Rey isn't a Skywalker. She has never been inferred to be a Skywalker in this trilogy. Snoke isn't talking about her. He's talking about Luke.

    Well, not everyone agrees with you, if you are not interested in the theory in this thread then why participate at all.

    Luke is who he was talking about!!!!!! Period. There is no debate here. It’s clear as day.

    Luke cut himself off from the force. Probably 6 years ago after Ben turned. Snoke assumed that once Kylo rose that Luke would rise up as the powerful light to oppose the powerful dark. They were part of the same bloodline so it could be assumed that Ben Solo and Luke Skywalker would be equals

    Snoke thought the awakening was Luke reconnecting to the force to meet Kylos power directly. During TFA, Kylo is getting hints that this girl is using the force. He senses her power. At the end he thinks “it IS you” meaning the one who’s awakening they felt. It wasn’t his Uncle reconnecting to the force. Remember there were exactly ZERO other Jedi in TFA. Who else would Snoke think is the light to meet the dark? He’s thinking Luke would return. That’s why he laughs when he mind probes Rey and sees that Luke just want to die on the island. Snoke is thinking he was worrying for nothing.

    I'd settle for someone just explaining the "theory" in a way that makes logical sense. I mean, I can argue that an orange is an apple, but it won't make an orange an apple.

    One of the few jobs open for Dalit people of India in the past was sscavenging junkyards. Because of the rigid caste system. They eat what the find and can turn in salvage. Many who live like this are kids. Its a horrible thing. But it is definitely something JJ was thinking of with Rey and Plutt.

    You are assuming Kylo has a vision created by Snoke but that is nowhere in the film. Snoke alludes to seeing and using the connection they already had. They have a connection Snoke boosts the connection making it possible over vast distances. After Snoke is dead Kylo talks with Rey about the truth that Rey doesn't want to face but that she knows.

    Did your parents assume that based solely on the viewing of the film or the endless entertainment reporters in magazines and news shows for a year + before TFA came out that presented the ST about "the next generation of SW." The overlying general assumption was kids if the OT will be in the film.

    It assumes that by overlooking the simple statement of the line. He assumed Luke would come. But Rey came instead. People are responding because they thought the line was simply understood and can't find the hidden gem of a clue that is being postulated.

    While I’m stil not 100 percent convinced with who TLJ says Rey’s parents are (I want to believe Kylo is lying/Rey is being shown a false premonition) I’m not disappointed by the story so far.

    I 100% guarantee that they based it solely on watching the film. The parts with Rey's flashback and the Skywalker light saber calling to her made them think that. They are extremely casual Star Wars viewers and had no preconceived notions, nor do they search out theories online.

    I assumed...that Luke was Snokes Force Equal.

    And Rens force equal is Rey.

    Cos Snoke dies. Luke Dies.

    All thats left are Two force users who are the ying-yang of the Force.

    It makes more sense to me that Snoke meant he thought the awakening would be a Skywalker...not Luke himself.
    So when he said he got it wrong...it means Snoke never for one minute thought the awakening could have been a non skywalker random.

    If Luke had been the awakening...then surely Snoke or Ren would have known.

    Luke already existed. Luke was already a force user Jedi who went into exile. So for me...Snoke was afraid of a second light to counter and balance the two darknesses.

    But ive never completely understood the Balance equation. Cos at the end of ROTJ...theres only a Jedi. The Sith and Darkness are both dead. So its not Balanced.

    You’re really over thinking this. Plus wouldn’t both Kylo and Snoke know if Luke had a kid? I mean Ben Solo was his nephew and I’m sure he didn’t see any cousins running around the Jedi Temple during his training.

    That is exactly my reasoning as well.
    Regarding the end of ROTJ we could theorize that Luke and Snoke where what remained since Snoke is very old.

    Maybe no one knows, maybe Leia was led to believe she had a miscarriage and her daughter was hidden. Maybe Luke had a romance with someone and she never told Luke they had a daughter. This is probably not going to happen but still possible.

    With all due respect. You are just looking for a bunch of stuff that isn’t there to fuel needless speculation.

    Rey = nobody, unknown bloodline
    Ren = Skywalker bloodline

    Rey = light
    Ren = dark

    Luke = cut off from the force therefor a non factor in the awakening.
    Snoke = thought Luke reconnected but was wrong, it was Rey’s light awakening.

    They make this very clear.

    If you are not interested in speculation then don't. I will continue to speculate as I see fit.
