You're making one big mistake when coming up with your theory and thinking about clues and hints who Rey's parents are. There is no masterplan behind the ST it is all made up on the fly. If JJ decides to change Rey's background he will turn the nobody's into somebody's, if he is okay with Rian's explaination Rey's parents will never be mentioned again. I think that considering all the backlash TLJ is gettig for some of RianÄs decisions JJ will adapt the script accordingly. It's still early in the produciton of IX and Disney have shown us time and time again that there is no final vision where the ST is going as of yet. I wouldn't be surprised if JJ added some more information about Snoke or the Knights of Ren to react to the negative feedback TLJ got for ignoring their backgrounds. I think it's fun to make theories and all but you can probably save a lot of time by not making any theories about the ST. Disney have showed us that our "Snoke theories sucked", because they themselves did't have a theory. So why should this be any different with Rey's parents? Don't try to uncover secrets where there are none.

JJ won't change the story of Rey's parents because he never intended her to be a Skywalker or Solo either. JJ loves adding mysterious elements to his story. In all honestly, the actors and JJ were all surprised that this question became a phenomenon. When you have JJ's ambiguous story telling around Rey's background and her family abandoning her and the history of Star Wars movies connecting Luke, Leia and Vader, people are naturally going to speculate. BUT, I don't think he ever intended her to be the offspring of the Skywalker bloodline.

That's your opinion. Not everyone sees romance or chemistry with Kylo and Rey and clearly they don't care about plot holes so making Rey be from a prominent family wouldn't be much of an issue. Unless you're an employee of Lucas film and are assisting with writing of the next episode, you and everyone else here, have no idea what JJ will do. I find all the posts telling us what they are "definitely" or "definitely not" doing next funny. NOBODY knows what will happen next and anything is possible.

So they are going to change the story message at the last minute to "you can't be a nobody and a hero, you need to be part of a mighty bloodline"???

Rian Johnson saw romantic tension. It was obvious in his writing and confirmed by him liking this tweet. JJ will not write another incest angle into Episode IX.

    Luke sees romance.gif

But Luke is dead, so maybe Mark Hamill isn't an employee of Lucasfilm anymore. ;)

That's fine if some see romance, I don't and find the idea vile. Kylo has all the charm and charisma of a rabid dog and I don't find his screaming at Rey, lying about her and telling Uncle Luke he'll destroy her romantic. Agree to disagree on that.

And there's this too. Clearly, there's no plan when it comes to this trilogy. JJ will change what he wants. I won't rack my brain trying to come up with a theory about Rey or anything else now because what's the point? It's pretty bad that they had no idea where this story was going.

This has always been such a bizarre theory. People have made up their own rules in their heads and now they're upset because the story didn't follow their rules. Ben Solo a central character to this story and he's a Skywalker. Rey didn't have to be related for this to be a part of the family saga. To suggest otherwise is ludicrous.

I think what has made people lose their collective minds is that the Good Guy of this trilogy isn't a Skywalker. People can't seem to accept a "randon" like Rey could be the hero.

In TFA you get the sense he has some knowledge of her before they ever meet. Maybe she was a student at Luke's academy, but was removed from it before Kylo turns to the dark side.

That would explain Rey's ability to do things that would require training, she'd still be able to be a random, Kylo's familiarity with her, Leia's familiarity (could have been a friends daughter)... so I guess there's still hope things can be explained, it's just a very strange way to tell the story.

Maybe Holdo's daughter. Han seemed to think he might know her too, but wasn't sure.

The thing that makes people "lose their minds" is that Rey behaves like a chosen one in terms of over the top forcepowers, her steep learning curve and her outstanding skills as a pilot and mechanic combined with a flawless character. Anakin Skywalker's sword calls out ot her even though she is no Skywalker. She can even snatch it away from Kylo on Starkillerbase, suggesting that JJ had indeed planned for her heritage to be that of a chosen one. The way Rey is presented in TFA and TLJ has all the tropes associated with a "chosen one" but she is explained to us as a nobody because Rian wanted her to be a nobody. This is the reason why some people can't believe she isn't a Skywalker or Kenobi or Palpatine. The way she is depicted in the movies goes straight against what we have learned to expect from a nobody in the previous trilogies. An error of contiunity for the sake of transporting the message Rian wanted to tell the audiences: Everyone can be a hero.

Maybe Han breaks up with Leia because she gets pregnant by the Force and he doesn't buy it. So it is Leia's daughter. Kylo knows her, she's another chosen one, got training from first Leia, then later Luke until they removed her from the academy for some reason, maybe because Luke feared Kylo and sibling jealousy. Han suspects he knows her even though he hasn't seen her since she was a toddler. Maybe he even has regrets realizing it wasn't Leia's fault.

Now they can force Skype all they want now. No need to worry about grumpy walking in on them . Good thing, the next time might have been with a lightsaber. He is known to do it.

That would actually be a fantastic explaination for the breakup of Han and Leia and Rey's immense power. I only have an issue with her acting like a chosen one while being a nobody at the same time. Since they can't undo her immense powers the chosen one explaination you offer could redeem her character in terms of believability and would subsequently make her fit into the older canon movies.

You mean she behaves like little Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One? He too displayed unreal force abilities at a young age. He too was a nobody. A slave to Wattoo. Similar to Rey being a “slave” to Unkar Plutt. He had no lineage. She has no lineage. The force chose Rey. Why is that hard to believe when in this universe we’ve seen it before?

The cycle is repeating itself but for some reason you need bloodline bonds to believe someone like Rey could exist

Huh, I must have missed the part where they said Rey was a virgin birth like Jesus and numerous other religious Messiahs and chosen ones. I must have missed the line of dialogue where they said Anaking, who was 50% pure force while Rey is 100% pure drunk scrapper, are equally powerful. I must have missed the part where Rey started her training at the age of 10 under the supervision of Obi Wan Kenobi and the whole Jedi Temple. Somehow I also didn't notice the numerous times when Rey was told by other forceusers how she would bring balance to the force and what an outstanding talent she had in the force or how her medichlorian count is even higher than Yoda's who is nothing short of the most powerful Jedi in 900 years...

If you can't see a difference between the way Anakin was carefully built up to be the chosen one while Rey acts like a chosen one wihitout a proper explainatin then you should rewatch the old movies.

Why does one have to be a virgin birth to be chose by the force? How do you know she wasn’t? Maybe that’s why her parents didn’t accept her and sold her. Because she was an abomination in their eyes. Your force percentages are your own made up garbage head canon with zero basis in fact, something you add to every argument and present as fact.

Anakin didn’t need training to pilot a ship and blow up an entire Seperatist flagship.
Anakin didn’t need training to build C3PO.
Anakin didn’t need training to see the images on Maces tablet.
Anakin didn’t need training to win a Pod Race, the only human who could do it.

I’m not saying Rey is part of a prophecy or anything like that. But she is the one chosen by the force to be the light that counters the dark of Ben Solo. She is the yin to his yang.

If you can’t see the similarities to Anakins origins then you are just blinded by you lust for massive amounts of training and bloodline connections.

“ she’s strong in the force, untrained but stronger than she knows” - Kylo Ren

Yes and he didn't need all these things because he was a freaking birth by force while Rey was born the daughter of two junkers. Noone in TLJ mentions she is a vriginbirth so why should we assume it? Isn't that the whole point of the reveal of her parents, that she is nothing special. There is only ONE forcebirth in the prequel trilogie which is Anakin. This is the reason why he is the ONLY human who can fly a podracer and do all the things you listed above. Because he is the freaking chosen one. Rey is a nobody. A Kit fisto. A Shaak Ti. A Depa Billaba. None of them were chosen ones or virgin births. None of them could do the things Anakin could. Rey should be like on of them. A nobody. But she acts like a chosen one, better and stronger than any other nobody after mere days of training. Can you honestly not see the difference between a virgin birth and nobodies in terms of symbolism and this idea of being a chosen one? Are you really that oblivious as to why Rey's and Anakin's background are not comparable??

/edit: again you are mistaking the dislike button for a disagreebutton. Why do you constantly rate my posts trolling or dislike when all I do is having a different oppinion? Then you change them back? The choice is yours man, if you want to have a discussion like this so be it but it certainly doesn't make you look like someone open for different oppinions.

He did not pilot the ship. He stayed in the ship like he was told. Press some buttons and activated the autopilot.
Kids put robots together every day from parts. Go to the Lego store. No where was it said he built a unique robot and should have got the patent.

    1. Luke says he’s only seen this raw strength in one OTHER person, Ben Solo. Who happens to be the grandson of the chosen one. Right there it puts Rey’s powers on the same level. This is coming from Luke freakin Skywalker.
    2. The light chose her. Someone with no attachments or family to meet the dark in someone with mommy and daddy issues and a strong bloodline. Polar opposites for a reason.
    3. Disney isn’t stupid enough to make the same mistake Lucas made with some crazy virgin birth ripping off Jesus story. The Chosen One story from the prequels was a horrible idea. Disney is doing their version, one with a better more believable message. That heroes can come from humble beginnings and still be chosen by the force to do great things and become a legend.
