    we're all guilty of digging too deeply into star wars scenes.. hell we're still trying to decipher moments from ANH and give meaning/purpose to certain things that happened during the star wars timeline.

    i see Han's death (and related scenes) quite differently i think:-

    I think Leia knew that Han would die if he were to speak to Ben.
    I think Han knew that he would die if he spoke to Ben.
    I think Chewie understood this as well when Leia asked Han to bring back their Son.

    to me.. Han was never going to get Ben to return to the light. The only thing he could accomplish would be to connect with his Son.. to connect with Ben and not Kylo.

    "If you see our son, bring him home."

    I think that Han showing his son unconditional love is a big step towards bringing him home.

    Leia didn't want Han to go...but he kept assuring and pressuring her that he was going to go to Starkiller Base.
