This would actually put a different spin on it for me, if it goes down this way that is very reasonable.

Either way, I would imagine if the lightsaber is important to the plot, whatever happened to it post Cloud City will be explained in detail in books and other material, and especially if it just happens to there.

personally I think the Lightsaber is a great 'tie' in. See what I did there

Its been in possession of several big name characters, when really, a lightsaber is a personalised thing

Agreed. It wouldn't take a great writer to make that work, even a mediocre one could pull it off. (Hey, JJ, if you're reading this, I'd love to help add some medicoreness to the story if you're looking for a writer, just saying... ;) ).

Hm... I think I'm starting to be converted to this lightsaber plot device ;)

For me it represents how much the sith have evolved, can't wait for it's first use in a duel.

If that's the case regarding this lightsaber and the "flashback" scene showing its history in going way back, coupled with the rumor/speculation that Darth Plagueis is in the ST, then the connection to the PT is stronger than we thought. It'll be interesting how this lightsaber flashback scene will be portrayed if it turns out that Anakin did in fact "store" some sort of key/message in it.

Perhaps it wasn't Anakin or Luke who stored this information?

Just when you thought it was safe to read Bluestreaking's posts again, out of the murky depths comes once again THE THIRD ORDER!!!

I like the slide show good work. You made good sense of the 1st act which in previous attempts felt like it bounced around too much between the planet and the SD. You got a gold metal from me.

I think the only thing I would change is the intro of Rey to before the village attack.

Ok, I'll do this again, but how the hell does @thehiredgun's original post constitute trolling? I declare that a troll must have posted that trolling mark!

The only reasoning for having the troop landers up front is that MSW had it listed as shot 3 of the film (1 and 2 being the pan down to the Star Destroyer, landers desceding to jakku) which would leave little to no room for any planetside exposition.

It would have a nice symmetry with ANH in that Luke isn't introduced until after the droids head off into the desert, and now Rey isn't introduced until we see BB-8 heading off into the desert.

In either case, it seems the introduction to Rey is going to be a big setup for her character and show that there's something special about her.

I really think Rey and Ren are Han and Leia's kids.

The only thing I personally disagree with is the Rey revelation. If she is a Solo it will be revealed during the flashback/force vision sequence. I felt a little iffy with how Han and Maz are both segued into but I found them believable even with their faults.

    Overall very fine work

It really does feel a bit heavy handed and it might be the sort of thing that is being misconstrued. It might be well known from a leak perspective that Rey is going to end up being Han's daughter, but that doesn't have to translate into it being touched upon in Ep7. It might be better if Han and Rey aren't related at all and she really is just a new convergence of the force. There is also the rumor that Rey has the saber or knowledge of it before she leaves Jakku - which would make it much easier to explain that the reason she goes to Han and he goes to Maz is to either get info on the saber, or to actually try to track down Luke.

I still don't see Rey as knowing Han beforehand. It doesn't quite make sense for Rey to be overwhelmed by the lush green planet if she has the Millenium Falcon to take her anywhere she wants, and with which she could do way more lucrative work than desert scavenging and living in ruins. I think she's too poor to get off planet, like Luke was, and she's always been stuck on Jakku.

That being stuff there's some great stuff in this summary, and it's probably at least 80% of the way there. I just wonder if the Yavin thing does turn out to be true.

I would like to see her & Han to have a lone time scene together were he reveals something from her past that she did not know before.

Sort of like, the flashback tells them that Han is her father, than on the Falcon two can have some awkward "i'm your father" moment ;)

The only real evidence for them being familiar is that if it really is Rey at the controls of the Falcon, she seems to be quite the pilot. According to Han, flying the Falcon takes some skill and to see her dodging and weaving like that either means that she had a great teacher, its in her genes, she's using the force, or she's had lots of practice. With Kennedy and Lucas stating that the story is all about family, it would be odd if Rey isn't related to someone we know.

Quite the pilot is an understatement. Successfully flying the Falcon through the interior of a downed Star Destroyer would constitute expert ability - and extreme familiarity of the ship, its size, and maneuverability.
