SPECULATION Star Wars Episode VIII Teaser

i cant see them getting Johnson to participate in Star Wars Celebration only to have him give us the title and then leave. there has to be more than just the title. i wonder what else he has up his sleeve for Celebration.

 

Believe it or not thats how its gonna be. This years SWC will focus mainly on Rogue One and SWC 2017 will focus mainly on Episode VIII. It makes sense.

 

whilst i agree with you 100%, what they show at celebration will come down to a great many things.

whatever they show, or don't.. they have a reputation of trying very very hard to please fans at these events.

the fans there would absolutely explode at a surprise 10 second teaser for episode 8... so whilst i don't think they will have one, undoubtedly it was considered (assuming Rian even has something ready, which again..i doubt)

 

Agreed. Expect something highly underwhelming for VIII. Kind of like Comic Con for TFA. Yes there was a panel but nothing happened. No new news really. It was the first panel with all of the main cast but we weren't really given anything. Rian might talk a little about the process of making the film and what it was like doing SW etc. and then we MIGHT.....(a huge) MIGHT get the VIII title but don't be surprised if we really get nothing except a very general interview from Rian about just his experience with SW.

Remember for TFA when everyone was like ..we are gonna get the trailer! ...nope...<next event>...We are gonna get the trailer!....nope...<next event> ...nope.

It doesn't work like that. We are gonna get stuff in little bits and pieces and we are still a long way off from VIII. I wouldn't expect anything huge until RO is out.

 

Rian Johnson is at SWC for a reason, EPVIII related reasons.

I'm 100% confident that we will get a title. But wouldn't it be quite boring if Rian steps on the stage and just 'tells' us the title? Lucasfilm/Disney want to please the fans, thus there hast to be a surprise.

Maybe it's just an extended clip of the production announcment. Who knows?

I highly doubt we will get more than a title though. But hey, someone can dream, right?

 

I wouldn't be so sure of that. I imagin (and this is just my guess) that after a certain amount of days/weeks of production, the footage they have shot thus far is handed over to Lucasfilm, and from there on they can start editing scenes togheter for promo and other stuff..

Like i said, this is just my guess.. If anybody else knows more about this stuff, please chip in..

This is correct. Typically in VFX we would receive both raw plates and rough sequence edits as early as a couple weeks into shooting and they would stream in consistently thereafter. I can guarantee that at this point both the editors and ILM have a *lot* of footage they've been working on for quite a while.

 

According to Hamill, the production will end on July 22nd. So the question is if we will even get an title at SWC ???

 

Exactly, yeah and even now, the directors/producers can see live playback on their monitors in real time what the final product will look like while the scene is being filmed if they go that route and they could do something like they did for R1 last year...even before they started filming

It dosn't say anything about that, that will remain to be seen.

 

Given Rian's penchant for tweet out set photos, it is possible that we get some small behind the scenes footage.

 

Hopefully and a title to go with it..

 

I'm still placing my figurative "bet" on a title and possibly Tran's character being announced at SWC. I think the odds of actual VIII new footage is under 10%.

 

I think we'll get another Rogue One teaser/trailer on the Friday. I think Lucasfilm will want the hype to build up around that rather than an Episode 8 teaser. Imagine if we get a Rogue One teaser followed by an Episode 8 teaser 2 days later... WE would be ecstatic being Star Wars fans, but the casual viewers would get a little confused. As much as I'd love an Episode 8 teaser I don't think we'll get one. Something I think we could get is maybe a behind-the-scene reel of some sort and a title reveal.

 

Found this on twitter. I dont think we should expect an EP VIII teaser with Rogue One. I'm not expecting anything until 2017.

 

bummer. i was hoping for a teaser in december. i guess we have to wait till next year. that sucks.

 

They're taking their time with VIII as they know that they can release anything at any time and would still get a reaction.

 

I been saying that all along but some people just wouldnt listen.
