SPECULATION Star Wars Episode VIII Teaser

Okay, so Doctor Strange will be released November 4th and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be released November 18th. So both films could have a final trailer released about a month before the films are released, that is pretty normal these days.

Power Rangers will be released March 24th 2017, Spiderman Homecoming will be released July 7th 2017 and Justice League will be released November 10th 2017. With the timegab between the teasers for these films and the release of the fims, this also seems pretty normal for this day and age.

So that list could very well be real. But again I'm not getting my hopes up untill i have seen at least two of the trailers from that list been released on the written dates..

 

I think it could work with a teaser trailer December 20. Rogue One have opend in theaters by that time, so it wont interfere with the release of that.

Rian Johnson teased at Celebration Europe that Celebration Orlando will be the place to be for Episode VIII news.

Why dosn't that surprise me ..

Dont count on it.. The full trailer will probably not be released until September or October 2017. Definitely not at SWC Orlando.

 

But that's only a few months before the release. I can't see Lucasfilm waiting that long when it comes to episode 8.

 

There is no way in hell that they will release the first full trailer at Celebration, that is to early without a doubt.

That is stanard for full trailers, remember there are probably two teasers before the full trailer + Behind the scenes footage and Tv Spots. So there is no reason what so ever to release the full trailer that early. From a marketing point of view your idea dosen't make sense at all.

 

The teaser trailer for The Force Awakens was released a whole year before the film was due to be released. Episode 8 has been a more organised production from the get-go. It is not outside the realm of possibility for the episode 8 full trailer to be released approximately 6 months after a possible teaser trailer.

 

For Lucasfilm yes it is. Wait and see and you will be proven wrong.

 

TFA did have delays in production and had more to do as a movie than RO and E8.

It had to:

Reintroduce the audience to the SW universe and update them on the situation
Remake ANH
Introduce new characters
Pull the old characters back in
Tell its own story
And update the style vehicles, uniforms, aliens etc.
set up the sequel

RO has to do some of that, but it's dovetailing a lot visually and plot wise from ANH..in a better way than TFA.


E8 has to continue the story, introduce some new characters and explain a lot of stuff JJ intentionally left dangling...and they pushed its release back due to "rewrites." That was only part of it because they sure finished filming in plenty of time to release in May.


TFA released a a teaser in Nov 2014. That was a month after filming ended and 13 months before release. I considered it as more of an announcement trailer. But don't forget there were more than a couple of CGI shots in there. And that teaser from NOV only had like 45 seconds of footage.

Lucasfilm could absolutely release a first teaser now. It is a fact. If you are editing a film you 45 usable seconds of footage.

The second teaser was released in April 2015. It was almost 2 minutes long with 90 seconds of footage.

the full trailer was released in October and is over 2 minutes

Rogue one had its first teaser in April and it was a full trailer.

There was a BTS released at SWC.


The full trailer was released in August and in over 2 minutes. Star Wars YouTube channel calls it a trailer not a teaser.


Next year's celebration is April. It makEs sense to get BTS or teaser 2 then.

Because TFA got two teasers and a BTS at SDCC plus a full trailer, I'm expecting more trailers for E8 than RO.

Also, don't forget they did an announcement video for the start of filming. I don't think they will wait until next April to show a teaser of some sort.

Releasing a first teaser 10 months before film release (Feb 15 would be that date) isn't unusual. We were all surprised the RO teaser was released so soon after Bluray of TFA was released.

Releasing a first teaser in late February (the week or second week after the super Bowl would be a great time because of the news vaccum).

RO will make a lot of money in the US the first 3-4 weeks then drop off dramatically. It's just how movies are now. People see fewer theater movies in January and February. February is a lifetime from December 15th in terms of entertainment news and publicity.

The chances of LF making news with E8 early in 2017 are high.

 

If they want to keep full attention to Rogue One this year + in the months after its release, I can see them pushing all VIII related things a little into the future. So maybe at orlando celebration a teaser and first trailer nearby another force friday in 2017.

 

If that trailer sheet is fake i would say a teaser in January or February and then another teaser in April at Orlando Celebration. Then the full trailer in August or September.

 

Dont get me wrong i would love to see a teaser in December, i just cant see it happening at all when Rogue One needs full attention this December. If they decided to release teasers in December for Star Wars movies then why was there not a Rogue One teaser in December 2015 before or after TFA ???

 

My guess would be that they didn't have any footage for a teaser at that point because they hadn't started production until this year.

 

Principal photography for R1 started in August 2015, so there was some footage. Maybe it wasn't ready to show it though.

 

You all are vicious in this thread. I think even if it's a black screen with VIII over it and December 2017, they will have something to get you excited for the movie when Rogue One is in theaters.

If they released a teaser with just a black screen and a Episode VIII logo then they might as well not release anything at all. They dont have to remind people that Episode VIII is coming, the people who want to see it already know the release date, and dont have to be reminded about the movie until next year.

 

yes really exciting to see a black screen that says VIII 2017 that will get people excited alright. if i want to see a black screen with VIII on it i go and search google images.

okay so let me ask you this, besides the trailer sheet that was posted which is probably fake, when and where do you see any indication that says in the smallest way possible that there will be a teaser with or around the time of Rogue One ???
