you see here is the thing, only 35 members have signed the thread but 365 members have viewed the thread. if all 365 members had signed already then we would have a far bigger chance of making it. but apparently not all members are interested in a teaser in December which actually surprises me. but i'm thankful for the signatures and support we do have så far.

Could you please pass a message through to them about this ???? That would be a big help. :)

Yeah, I'm not sure why you would view the post and not actually vote.

    That's rather discouraging.

I tweeted the link and added a message to two of the Jefi Council regulars but I think other people should also do that for sure.

Even if they said LFL won't ever do that for the fans....its publicity for something positive from SW fandom to LFL.

I know the staff around here has a "eat what's on your plate and like it" bias about LF information releases, but featuring the petition on the front page and maybe doing a short article on EVIII and how little has been released even when compared to TFA would be a nice thing on behalf of some of your readers.

I'm not saying we don't like having four updates on RO toys every day, but what's the down side of sending a message to LF that comes from our hearts and not just our wallets?

my guess is that some people may be so convinced that Lucasfilm has already planned to release a teaser in December that they think signing is unnecessary.

    Thank you. :)

Let me put it this way, there is no downside for voting in the thread so I dont understand why people just cant vote and support it. I seriously dont believe that there is even one individual in here who would miss an opportunity to see a teaser around Xmas or New Years time. Atleast they should vote to show their support to their fellow Cantina brother/sister who is taking initiative for this to happen. I mean The Cantina is supposed to be one big happy Star Wars family right ?? Well, family support eatch other in situations like this.

Lol @ thinking a few hundred forum members will change Lucasfilm's marketing strategy. Maybe I'm just too cynical, but I guarantee that won't happen.

Stop trying to get your hopes up guys. The movie is still 16 months away. I hate seeing people get disappointed because of things that were never going to happen.

If every member, or atleast as many as possible on the Cantina voted instead of just viewing the thread and then leave without voting, we might have had a chance.
And by the way, there are many more than a few hundred members in the Cantina. I dont see anybody else making any effort of this thing happening. Atleast @Pete is trying his best. The least people can do is show some gratitude for his efforts instead of just mocking this whole thing with a *lol*comment like you do.

Didn't we get the teaser for TFA in fall 2014? I'd be shocked if there isn't one attached to R1.

Indeed we did, but that teaser wasn't a part of their original marketing plan. And if you look at it there wasn't a Lucasfilm logo attached to it either, so it was more of a *here is a tittle sneak peak at what we are working on right now.* The original teaser was released at Star Wars Celebration 2015 and that one was ment to be the first teaser. Dont expect any official Episode VIII material this year. Also, Kathleen Kennedy has stated that *this year is all about Rogue One, Episode VIII will get its turn next year.* And Rian Johnson said *Celebration Orlando (in 2017) is the place to be for Episode VIII news.* So that pretty much says it all.

Understood, and I bet that was their mindset until recently. But today Disney announced it was lowering box-office expectatiosn for Rogue One. Obviously adding an Ep 8 teaser in front of it is likely to be - at least - a small boost. So that mindset might change.

Why would a trailer boost the box office? The only people who care about the trailer are die hard fans who will be seeing Rogue One anyway.

I think it's reasonable to expect some sort of teaser with R1 .

Yes, but there are those marginal fans who aren't so excited about R1, but are more into the trilogy. Might get a few more of them. There have to be a reasonable amount of them or why would Disney expect it to not come close to TFA's box office? If all fans go see all movies, then R1 would be expected to make as much as TFA - right?

Since trailers are available online I can't think of a going to movie just to see a trailer. I guess it's possible if the trailer was only available at the movie.

Yeah, Meet Joe Black was helped because the trailer played before the film. Those days are over.

Exactly but plus they are smart people so I do expect them to do a surprise teaser with R1 and a full trailer + official plot synopsis for VIII, a title + 2nd trailer for force friday and then the movie in december
    optimistically.

I don't think Disney, Lucasfilm, or anyone else for that matter was ever expecting Rogue One to ever come close to what TFA brought in at the box office. TFA was the perfect storm so to speak. It was the first SW film in what seemed like forever that was going to include the the original Big 3. It was the most anticipated movie in a long time. On the other hand , R1 is a stand alone film with a new group of characters nobody knows and Vader. Vader and the Star Wars name are the only thing that is there to draw the casual viewer to the theater. While R1 will make a boat load of money, as far as movies go, It won't come close to TFA and the people at Disney and Lucasfilm know this. I suspect they even anticipate that VIII won't reach the box office number of TFA.
