i've seen the movie today. I didn't like it really much. Finn is useless. Rey has barely no developpement or training (she knows everything already ) and it's the kylo ren show. The new trilogy name is " three chances to save Ben "

Luke has one moment where he shines , the rest is not my cup of tea.

i don't know why the critics are so pleased with the movie. It's not boring, but not great, stupids some times and nothing really earth shattering. Empire strike back is much more better from miles away

In fact, I was waiting for some kind of last minute revelation that she was 'someone', because Kylo Ren would be the kind of guy to play with her, in order to make her join the dark side.

Except that I believe now that they are telling the truth, because she is truly nobody, not the daughter of Jedi students or Empire soldiers or darksiders or whatever...
She was sold by 'nobodies', poor and probably not very good people, : to me it explains why she does not remember them and wait for a family. It's because she chose to not remember them and believed, had illusions, that she has a real family that will come back for her. It's simply a very sad story.

I'm 100% sure this is the truth because she's the one who said it.
    --- Double Post Merged, Dec 13, 2017, Original Post Date: Dec 13, 2017 ---
No. She said it. Kylo Ren said :"Say it, say it, say it'.

She then goes emotional and she said it.

NO. I'd be fine showing Luke in another flashback scene and kicking major ass. But making him God is not good storytelling.

First of all, the big questions:

Did Phasma have a hail to Anakin eyebrow moment?

Who had the best nipples, the sea island cow or Kylo Ren?

Gold bath robes are back in fashion now?

Yoda, is he on space crack?

But anyway, just saw the movie and it's all a bit too fresh to process properly right now. However, some of the questions I'm going to want to delve further into once I'm sober and slept will go along the lines of...

Finn, how much of a coward is he and how much of a hero?

Who is even good and bad anymore? I don't even know.

So Rey is the Last Jedi?

How much does the Skywalker family suck at familying?

Snoke - who was he again?

What the hell was that Union dispute over?

    KOR? Hello? Like, WTF?

Will the next crawl kill Leia?

There are lots more, but I will be back when I can make sense...

    Dude, Reylo is dead.

Supreme Leader Kylo Ren is now the big baddie of the story and of the galaxy. He's like Vader and the Emperor together.

The final speechless force connection moment between Rey and Kylo is Rey closing a door of the Falcon in front of him that is obviously very significant of the end of their relationship.

Kylo made his choice, there will not be a comeback or a redemption path for him. Even his mother now knows and accept that; he's lost forever. Also the breaking of the Skywalker Lightsaber is very significant not only of the breaking of the Reylo relationship but also that Ben Solo is dead and with the death of Luke the Skywalker bloodline is no more.

So Reylo dies in this movie but ironically it was a very concrete possibility all along it, in fact they have also seen each other together in a future that was a very concrete possibility, if only Kylo would have made different choices. But he didn't.

I agree absolutely, but that means the last heir of Skywalkers ended on the far end of the Dark Side.

He did acheived what Vader would want, and he will not left this from his grip.

I really don't know how they are gona do this.

Scavanger sold by her scavanger parents, never loved by her parents, called on duty by Skywalker light saber, which is now destroyed, against the last Skywalker from the failed(and dead) family, who became new Vader and the Emperor.

How did it came to this?

Luke gave up on him and finally so did his mother. When your mother thinks your a lost cause.....Yeah Rey is not saving this dude.

Let's try to view it in a different way: a branch of the Skywalker tree ended in the Light with Luke, the other branch ended in the Dark with Kylo. There is balance.

And Rey comes from Nothing, is Nobody and wasn't loved as a child. But she will become a Jedi Master, will have friends and family (maybe with Poe! Long Live Reypoe! :D ) that will love her.

Let us pray Rey decapitates Kylo in the first act of ep. IX and marry Poe Dameron, and than everything moves on, since this situation left after the "masterpiece" is unbarable.

Okey just came home from the movie and my first initial thoughts is that it was good. After my fears and disappointment from the synopsis leak I tried to go in neutral as much as I could.I would rate TLJ by far better then TFA.Im your average star wars joe...meaning I love watching the movies but do not venture into reading books, comics and so on.The movie while in many ways different never ceases to feel or be a star wars movie.

My fears of Luke not being recognizable where wrong.Although Luke is bitter and pretty much selfloathing in the beginning it kind of made sense when he elaborates his thoughts and views about the jedi and his own experience with Ben Solo.So about Luke he is as I said bitter and selfloathing when we first see Rey try to approachim him.
He tells her to go away and then pretty much ignores her. There is a funny scene where Chewie busts the door and roars at Luke.Rey is persistent and is then later drawn to the jedi tree. This invokes Lukes interest and he asks her who she is and why she is here.Luke is sarcastic in some few moments...and while grumpy has some sence of humour. He sneeks into the Falcon when Chewie is about to feast on a grilled porg. There he meets R2D2 and they have a short hearty conversation.Hello old friend.Luke telling R2D2 that he wish R2D2 could understand him and that there is nothing that can make him change his mind.It is then R2D2 plays the help me obi one...and Luke tells R2D2 that was a cheap trick or something along the line.Luke gets sentimental and touched. It is after this he decides to train Rey...three lessons.Luke is like a old somewhat grumpy kung fu master of them Chinese kung fu flicks some of you have probably seen in the first lesson when he instructs Rey to reach out.

Other good stuff in my view...

The force connection betwenn Kylo and Rey.Fun to see the quirkyness of it to the characters in the beginning when they both are wonder what the heck is going on.Kylo more so then Rey it seems.

Snoke the little of what we are treated with is an interesting character and more livid somewhat laid back character who thinks and feels he is in control and superior...which like for the emperor will be his downfall. He indeed strikes one as being very powerful with the force and for instance lightthrows Kylo after berating him...being annoyed with Kylo and his failure.Snoke plays with Rey....levitates her...giving the impression he could toss her around as he would like...without breaking a sweat or even using the classic hand gestures. He chuckles quite alot in a sinister way.The scene where Rey is reaching out with her hand is where she pulls the anakin lightsaber from snokes throne (he has it on his arm rest I think) only for the saber to boomerang back to snoke and fly by an suprised Rey.Snoke is to some extent impressed with Reys resolution ...says it is very Jedilike or sonewhat like that and that is a reason why she has to die.Kylo is given the task...snokes has her in an what seems effortless forcegrip and rotates her so that she faces Kylo. All the while snokes tells her how he manipulates with Kylo and that Kylo can not hide anything from him.
Then he tells Rey what Kylo is about to do and misses to grasp that while kylo is about to ignite lightsaber he also ignites the anakin lightsaber that is by snokes side.It is in this way snoke gets cut in half.

Rey and Kylo then have to fight the praetorian guards which gives them a run for the money.Kylo with his sluggish powerful swings. While Rey has more flare in her moves and terminates some guards in an impressive way.

Rey.I liked her so much better in this movie. She is more calm, composed and not that edgy and hysterical as she was in TFA.Her hate for Kylo is present in the beginning and then later changed (thanks to the force connection and some explaining by Luke and flashbacks about Luke and Ben) to where she is certain that she can reedem him.

Kylo is great in this movie.Kylo is like in the TFA but it seems that the force connection and dialogue with Rey gives him somekind of better selfesteem belife in himself. He thinks Rey will turn to his side in contrast to Reys vision and notion about it.Kylo seems to hate Luke with a passion. While also to some extent fear him. There is this scene where Luke's astral projection goes out in front of Kylo ren and his forces on the surface of crait.Kylo orders Hux to fure upon that man with all they got which they do for a quite some time...making Hux in a sarcastic way ask Kylo if he thinks that the man is still alive....kylo is silent....and Hux orders to stop. Its hilarious to see Kylos reaction when he sees Luke still standing there...in a teasing kind of way brush away dust from one of his shoulders.Kylo stands there and swallows...then ordering Hux to take him down...so he can confront Luke.It is here that we see how hateful kylo is toward Luke.Luke does some matrix moves when Kylo attacks him.By the way he really says see you around kid...lol to Kylo.

Lukes departure is like Yodas.Like it has been described he just vanishes after the ordeal of the projection. Not in the same instance. It takes some minutes as he was levitating and falls down on the rock.He is like exhausted and sweaty, crawling up and look at the sun setting with tears in his eyes.I did not had the impression that Luke went down like a punk.It felt worthy and he dumbfounded Kylo with his astral projection.

Yoda makes a short but very retro inspired comeback. He to some extent berates Luke as he did in the OT.
Hitting Luke in the head with his little cane. The Yoda puppet?...looked kind of weird to me.But maybe im damaged by all the previous CGI yoda.

I found the pace of the movie to be okay. The movie never felt to long.Although it was different then what I initially excpected and wanted, the movie and story where not bad at all and I enjoyed it.

    The bad....
Snoke was at least to me a super intriguing character.I would have loved to know more about him.
Would loved to have more of Kylos backstory. How was his relation with his mother and dad?
How snoke found Kylo. How Ben and Lukes relationship was before the fallout.

I do not regret having seen the movie in the cinema. My daughter who was with me like it as well.
We enjoyed it.Im interested to see what the die hard star wars fans will say about the movie and story.

I can respect when a man takes risks. Rian Johnson is a great filmmaker, but the writing and the decisions he took are just bad. I don't think I will change my opinion ever. Give us back JJ

I'm not going on a tantrum, but I absolutely do not understand that the reviews so far have been so overwhelmingly positive. I don't want him to do another trilogy. Not after this.

Movie should be called: Rian Johnson - a Star Wars story. Or even better: A film with elements of Star Wars by Rian Johnson

I may be in need of grief counseling therapy

I can understand that SOME people would like it. Some people also like cutting themselves...I digress... Reviews should be at least balanced (pun intendend) or on the negative side. The positive reviews just look like a ruse or someone who is embarrassed for their cousin and feels the urge to say something supportive

Excellent memorie, man. Iam not able to remember a movie like that. I must watch it at least 3 or 4 times...hahaha
I am still dont know waht to think about Snoke, I was liking him, his visual, his dialogues but in 3 seconds Kylo cuted him in a half. I was expecting, like you, more information about the character. How he is so powerfull and where he came from. That was a letdown to me. Maybe they will mention about Snoke past in IX, I dont know...the good thing in all of this is that Kylo was not killed, He will remain the main villain of this ttrilogy.

I loved Yoda apparition. Looks like the old and good Yoda from TESB and ROTJ. I dont know if they used just the puppet or cgi too.
As I said I will have to see TLJ 2 or 3 more times, to many things to digest.
