If Rey's mother happens to be General Leia Organa of the Resistance... then why wouldn't the audience care about how Rey feels? That sounds pretty important to me.

I've always disliked how the Naboo celebration detracted from the funeral and the lead up to the rest of the trilogy...
It's possibly worse than the Rebel Alliance deciding they've got time to host some award ceremony even though their location is known to the Empire.

I think JJ will end with theses Finals Celebrations. I don't see how TFA can end like ANH or TPM, a victory of the resistance? Hummm...hope not.

Would be nice to end on an up-note. I hope this doesn't go with the current Hollywood trend of being so dark and depressing.Life is depressing enough sometimes. lol
That's one of the reasons ANH was so successful. Escapism! Rogue One can be dark and gritty, but not the ST. At least not yet. Maybe VIII...

Reminds me after I saw Superman The Movie as a kid .I would tie a bath towel around my neck and run around the yard.
After I saw Man Of Steel I wanted to tie a noose around my neck.

TFA should be fairly lighthearted.I'm fine with a few dark moments...but if Han dies our heroes will be somber afterwards.Maybe Kylo "gets away" so we don't even get the satisfaction of seeing him pay for his crime ....then we climax with Rey walking up the stairs to a dark cave and handing a hooded Luke his saber. Roll credits...The theater erupts in thunderous applause! lol
Not exactly inspiring to a new generation of potential fans. Of course I'd still watch it 50 times because...well ,I've been waiting for a sequel since 1983! (duel)

What? A Bad Robot production end on a high note? Sure thing! Just like all those episodes of Lost.... nice and up-beat endings!

Considering that JJ is the director - we should be looking for the movie to end on a big Mystery note....

The last two Star Trek movies ended on a high note.
It doesn't need to be an award ceremony, but I'd rather it not end with a WTF????

This is exactly how I feel. We need something to escape from the political turmoil, the global crisis, the racism, the hate, and the general doom and gloom of life. That is why Star Wars was so great in the late 70's; it let kids and imaginative adults forget the wars and protests etc, and see something hopeful and positive that just made you feel good. JJ has that opportunity today, to let us believe again. I hope that it ends with us dreaming of space travel and good overcoming evil again. I hope it reminds us about what it felt like to see Luke blow up the death star and begin his journey. Knowing how I felt when I first watched Star Wars as a kid, it makes me sad/anxious to think about Luke going dark or crazy, or Han and Leia not being together. We have that in real life, our heroes letting us down and love not being forever. I hope we can escape that when we watch this new chapter and they keep the innocence in the magic of Star Wars, and make us all want to save the princess and the galaxy again.

I can't agree with this any more and I was about to write something similar until I saw this. 95% of this film sounds so awesome but that last 10 minutes is ruining it for me. I absolutely hate those Marvel style sequel teasers/adverts. By this point I'm fairly certain it's not option 3 going by all we've heard. Option 2 is the one I'm leaning heavily towards, I really believe this is the new cast/Han's movie and Luke just isn't important in this story and just replaces Han's role in the sequels but that just sucks so god damn much! What an awful cop out!

"Hey we're making a new Star Wars! ...And it's actually Episode 7! A legitimate sequel to ROTJ but you won't get to see the OT cast as a whole like everyone desperatly craves and has so for 30 years until 2018... we're making you wait because we need to make sure people come back for E8 just incase this one sucks"

Absolute bollocks. I have no doubt this was a Disney exec idea as well because it makes absolutely 0 sense from a story telling perspective. Unless of course it's option 1, you do have it correct so it would be a major, major eff up from JJ and with all that's riding on this I just can't contemplate him being that moronic and amateurish

What if in AOTC you didn't get to see adult Anakin until the very last minute, after the climax and logical ending of the movie? as he was missing the whole time? (In TFA the duel is the climax, Rey leaving with Chewie in the Falcon after saying bye to Finn is the logical ending) I'm sure Hayden Christiensen haters would have loved that idea but imagine you were told that before you saw anything of AOTC....it would be a massive WTF moment!

After Kylo Ren dispatches Finn, Kylo Ren should take the Lighstaber. It doesn't make any sense for Kylo Ren to beat Finn and leave the Lightsaber.

But somehow Rey gets it back or otherwise intervenes before Kylo Ren could take the Lightsaber.

Why does Luke even need the lightsaber? Why wouldn't Chewy meet with Luke who is his friend?

With what has been reported about the potential ending to TFA, I sometimes let my mind go all-cynical and conspiratorial and think that some of the "rumors" bandied about are actually trial balloons about specific sequences and their possible variations in the movie given to people with a platform to send off the balloons. These trial balloons are actually being focus-group tested with the focus group being Star Wars fans and test results acquired from reactions on blogs and social media.

I'll join you with my own TinFoilHat...knowing that Bad Robot has a history of purposeful misdirection in scripts and production materials (my brother saw this first hand working on Lost), combined with the fact that most of the "sources" for major sites come from within the machine itself leads me to think that many of the leaks so far could have easily been apart of an elaborate marketing campaign.

The only true leaks (outside of what was approved beforehand) that I think were not supposed to happen was the first image of Kylo on Instagram (it was too early) and the image of Luke broke by our very own SWNN which promptly caught Disney's attention. This type of cease & desist action could have been done with other images/materials that were leaked, but they weren't. So, we know now that any genuiune hints of Luke with the film bring out the big guns. Compare this to the stuff we've heard so far about Luke only being in the film for two sequences; this hasn't brought any action from the powers that be; perhaps because its not the whole story, or perhaps because its inaccurate. ..okay, time for tinfoilhat to come off now.

That scene in the comic-con BTS with all the Resistance pilots standing around the Falcon has always looked suspicious to me as being something near the end of the film -- not the last scene, but near the end.

The last line of the movie should be Luke telling Rey that, "there is another Skywalker".

That would be too convenient. People would start making jokes by saying "There is ANOTHER Skywalker" constantly.

Yoda said it once, and that should be enough.

I suppose there are a couple of things to consider here.
    1) By this point in the movie, Kylo Ren has decided he doesn't actually need the saber to complete his goal. Either he realises he knows how to find and destroy the last Jedi without the saber, or he decides Rey is actually somehow integral to completing this goal... or something else we just haven't figured out yet.
    2) His situation at this point is, he is shaken by his encounter with Rey; she's escaped and he's wandered off (to find her?). Starkiller base is under attack and he is eventually confronted by Finn. Judging by the production paintings we know about, it certainly makes sense that two possible outcomes considered at some point were that a defeated Finn simply tosses the saber to Rey, or that at some point Finn is forced to drop the weapon and it lands in the snow... presumably for Rey to somehow recover it before Kylo can.
Either way, it appears Rey picks up the fight in a fairly seamless manner, so to speak.
