The full trailer. What do you want/expect to see ?

Don't forget about releasing the title of the Han Solo movie, a possible new SW TV show, and any new anthology films.

They could show the crowd the BTS and then show that on ESPN or ABC in a few days.

Well, you're assuming that all they'll do is reveal Han Solo film title.

They could announce the next anthology film and/or a new SW TV show....

They could release a TLJ BTS video at SDCC or D23.

They pretty much have to release a trailer in July or August.

They will need to release a final trailer in late October. It will need to play in front of Thor 3 & Justice League.

After Spider-Man is released, there's several more big films being released before and after SDCC & D23

But I could see them dropping the new trailer during the ESPYs or Homerun Derby (if it is on ESPN). The NBA draft is another possibility.

But if they are going to release two trailers between now and November they can't wait until September.

And after that weak teaser, and having to fight for promotional oxygen in October & November, they should release two full trailers for TLJ.

They have Blade Runner, Thor 3, & Justice League releasing in October & November.

Look at what the summer movies have been doing trailer wise: 4 or 5 full trailers each. TLJ is in a similar situation as any summer of 2017.

SW is super popular, but you've got college football season, the World Series, the NFL, Fantasy Football, Halloween, thanksgiving, Christmas shopping, and whatever insane thing Trump is doing, in addition to the promotional stuff for three HUGE sequels, and one of the biggest superhero movies ever.

And don't laugh but Murder on the orient express will get a lot of attention too.

Oh, and Avengers infinity war will have a trailer release in October (no way they don't have it play before Thor 3, same with Black Panther full trailer...it'll be out before Thor 3)


Oh, and they'll have to release a teaser for Han Solo film some time before the main push for TLJ.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but TLJ needs two trailers to be released to not get swallowed to some degree by all this other stuff.

5-6 months between trailers when JJ isn't the director is very rare.


They have to release another trailer in the next 60-75 days.

 

I'm just about ready for another trailer.. Hopefully D23..? possibly?

 

They glossed over Star Wars during previous one and I can see them not showing any new footage this time. It's just not the best time for them to do it. Besides, the only people who care about difference between a teaser and a trailer are extremely rabid fans.

 

You could be right they had that celebration last year where they showed Jack ****.

 

I would expect to see Benicio Del Toro's character, the Knights of Ren and some new cool looking First Order troopers. What I would love to see but think I won't is Rey with a lightsaber of her own making.

 

Luke & Leia's fist words since his exile.

 

Personally rather wait till the movie to see/hear that.

 

I'm thinking

Get some more information on what the Resistance is up to which would include Finn, Poe and Leia.

Learn a bit more about what is going on with Kylo Ren.

Get just a little more info about Luke and Rey as I think those are the two they will want to keep us in the dark about the most until December.

 

With expectations set LOW (as Always) ...

I want to see Kylo Ren holding both his saber and the Skywalker saber, and igniting them at the same time. An unexpected shot at the end of the trailer. That would blow everyone's mind. And would generate at least 25 new threads here.

 

even better if it's made to look like he's trying to make a choice between them. : D

 

I was thinking more like igniting them threateningly, ready to fight with both. Characters around him being just as surprised as the audience. No hesitation, just sheer determination. The symbolism would be strong with that one scene.

 

i guess i'm still operating under the assumption that his allegiance is going to be--at best--very fuzzy by the end of TLJ. : D

 

For the purpose of the trailer I would only show a hand (not Rey's) which is holding the Skywalker sword. This would generate so much speculations. "Who is holding the lightsaber? Is it Luke, Finn or even Kylo?"
