I saw Attack the block after having heard of the TFA casting just to check out this John Boyega guy . First of i was very impressed with him. He has great precense and is very charismatic and sucks up the attention of a scene. The camera likes him. Then when he started swinging that katana i thought "Oh ! thats perfect" . He looked like a propper Jedi and i can see where they got the idea to try him out for TFA.

What points to him being force sensitive? Because he's wielding a lightsaber? Since when does holding a lightsaber means your force sensitive?
The main outline and plot of the film is known. We know Rey is the chosen one. Boyega may be ONE of the main leads, but he's not whom the story is about. This is well known unless one has avoided the spoilers and leaks.

another fact is that there are billions of asians and indians and hundreds of millions of dark skin humans on planet earth. there are thousands of planets in the star wars galaxy and chances are that there are planets exactly like planet earth with a lot of sunlight with a normal environment therefore people with darker skin. still there are people who are surprised that not everyone is 100% white. hilarious

What points to him NOT being Force sensitive? You know people have been saying all along that "Rey is the chosen one." What points to that? Because she lives on a desert planet? So, it's been foretold that the chosen one can ONLY come from a desert planet? But her story mirrors Anakin's and Luke's. So what, that doesn't mean a thing! In a galaxy as big as Star Wars I'm sure there are probably THOUSANDS IF NOT MILLIONS OF PEOPLE AND ALIENS THAT COULD FIT THAT BILL! Well, she look like Padme and Leia. Well Most of Padme's handmaids look like her and I'm sure Leia has some look alikes too. Well, Rey's powerful with the Force. Based on what scene?! She rides her speeder, Runs from Tie fighters, Flies the Falcon, Grabs her staff and hits a guy, Fire shots at Kylo which are deflected, and looks scared when he places his lightsaber near her head! NONE OF THESE THINGS MEAN SHE'S FORCE SENSITIVE! Now I'm saying all of this NOT because I don't believe Rey is Force sensitive, because I do. I believe BOTH Rey and Finn are. However, based on the trailers and TV spots I'll say without a doubt Finn IS!! You say the lightsaber is No indication? Well, neither is ANYTHING REY HAS DONE SO FAR AS I HAVE SEEN!

Old news, but there are plenty of things pointing to his force sensitivity.

The first thing that points to it is the very first part of the very first trailer: "There's been an awakening... have you felt it?" This is followed by Finn's face popping up on screen.

The second are the words "...a Jedi." as the camera pans to Finn's face in the main trailer. This is punctuated with John saying 'Damn right!" when he watched the trailer.

He's using the iconic lightsaber not as a tool, but as a weapon and he is marketed on the official poster with that lightsaber. All six movies to this date have had posters marketed with force sensitives characters holding lightsabers.

None of the six movies have had a character who is not Force sensitive holding a lightsaber in their promotional material, none.

Great logical, reasoned argument. Without labeling anyone who disagrees with them as racist as others have done.

I saw someone on my Instagram feed this morning posting a picture of the Hasbro Rey card that went around a while back that implies she's a Jedi and Finn is not, and he captioned it with something like 'hmmm, Rey's card says Jedi and Finn's doesn't... HMMM, wonder what that means??? ;);)' and the amount of comments gleefully proclaiming "because he's NOT a Jedi!" was disturbing. I mean, it's one thing to believe he's not a Jedi, but to be happy about it is just wrong. I really don't understand that mindset.

Except not really. It's just wishful thinking on the Finn will be a jedi shippers.

But that's the whole point the filmmakers are going for point everyone in a different direction.
We know the majority of the outline of this story at this point. Why people are still insisting Finn is a jedi is beyond me.

You say that and yet we still don't know who Rey's parents are definitively. I wonder how many other secrets are out there.

    Quick question.

If Finn was Liam Hemsworth or Jesse Plemmons or Andrew Garfield...would you still be saying the same exact thing. Be honest.

    I'm just curious.

He said that we know the "story," the story being that of this particular movie.
Don't expect Rey's parents to be revealed in this movie.

I would have thought that myself, but Daisy in an interview stated the question of her origins would be revealed by the end of this story.

Do you have a source for that?
I'm extremely skeptical that she said that "the question of her origins would be revealed by the end of this story."

Believe Finn was first revealed with a lightsaber in his hands on the D23 poster. I recall at the same time, J.J. said there were both clues and red herrings in that poster image. With all the secrecy around the plot at that time, I thought to myself there is not way J.J. would allow the unveiling of the movies plot way back in May. From that moment on, I am of strong belief Finn is not destined to be a Jedi. From what I've read and understand about TFA, Luke's lightsaber is a plot device for Daisy Ridley's to be united with both Luke, and for her to eventually embrace her destiny as a Jedi. I have yet to see any evidence that Finn is actually force aware. We already know of two incidents where Finn faces off against the First Order using Luke's lightsaber. The first is against a stormtrooper outside the demolished Maz Kanata Castle, and looks to come off second best to a stormtrooper. The second is against Kylo Ren. It's looking most likely that Finn will be seriously injured against Kylo Ren, and will require extensive medical treatment back at the Resistance Base. Whilst Finn is recovering, Rey will head off to be united with Luke. Finn is obviously a strong central character, and most likely destined to become a great SW hero. Possibly a type of hero we have not yet seen, but my gut feeling remains that he will not be a Jedi.
