Of them being force sensitive? Of course, even more so.

But my point is more about the perception.

I've grown up seeing mainly Caucasians be the noble heroes with special powers, so not for a second would i think if jesse plemmons was wielding a lightsaber that he would be anything short of being on the path of a jedi.

My question are for those who don't think he will be a jedi...if that was jesse plemmons, would they still be saying the same things.

Everyone wants to know who Rey's parents are. Do you know?
    Yeah.
Will the viewer know after the first episode or not necessarily?
Questions will be answered, absolutely. The main question will be answered.

    ...wow.
Assuming that this is an accurate transcript of the exchange, it is probably the most shocking spoiler for TFA that I've seen in many months....

So Daisy not only knows who Rey's parents are (meaning the decision was made by JJ and Kasdan AND communicated to her; remember that not even Hamill knew that Vader was his father until ESB was being filmed), but she's claiming that the "main question" of her parentage will be answered. Did she take "after the first episode" to mean Episode 8 or did she correctly understand it to mean "by the end of Episode 7"...?
I just don't see how Rey's parentage could be revealed in this film... While Ridley seems to confirm absolutely that she knows who Rey's parents are, I'm not 100% sure that her meaning about the "main question" being answered is entirely clear.

It would be very surprising to me if JJ and Kasdan decided to settle the mystery of Rey's parentage in the very first film in the trilogy rather than leaving it to be explored in later films. I would've thought it would be a logical story thread for Episode 8...

Are you referring to this? http://www.ew.com/article/2015/08/14/star-wars-force-awakens-jj-abrams
“They’re all, in a way, pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that is, little by little, coming together in some form,” Abrams said. “We’re doing the best we can to simply finish this movie, and make it as good as it can be, and at the same time, dole out moments and characters and images that will be in line with what Lucas has been doing for so many years.”

But not all the pieces of the puzzle are there yet. And some are red herrings. “There are many things that have been seen that of course can’t be understood yet,” Abrams said. “Some things are throwaways; some things are more important. But the fundamental thing is the movie, and wanting to make sure that we are platforming and helping where we can, but not in any way ruining or divulging things that would make the experience of seeing the movie lessen.”

That line was injected by the writer. JJ doesn't say that.
    JJ says this...

I respect your right to believe the lightsaber in Finn's hands is a red herring, but that isn't necessarily what JJ Abrams said about the promotional material put forth.

Let's look at the big picture. Forget the characters.

I think that's just a poor move to make someone who is not force sensitive fight with a lightsaber.

It was a bad move to make General Grievous wield, and it would be a bad one to make Finn do so if he does not have the force.

Then the weapon loses its meaning, and you go against in important aspect of Star Wars which is how special the lightsabers are that can only be used for combat by special people.

Right crazy huh? Luke being Vader's son was dropped in 5, but not verified until Yoda did so in 6. So yeah, if this is true, then one of many things could be going on.
    1. Rey is a new character, period. (a very unpopular thing to say anywhere I know, but possible).
    2. We will be convinced she's a new character until something in 8 or 9 gives 'new' information.
    3. They come out with her being a Skywalker/Solo in this episode because it's not really going to be shocking... everyone assumes this.

Well, Boyega HAS said that Finn does have a sense of humor about him, but I don't think that he will be there to add some comedy for the sake of it like Jar Jar Binks .

Let's be serious, there was never going to be a big reveal about parentage in the ST, this has been obvious from the beginning. It is simply not going to surprise anyone because we are all expecting it. Actually the only surprise they could achieve is if by the end of the ST none of the new characters are related to anyone.

In the leaked synopsis there is no mention of Finn being Force sensitive but it does mention Rey being Force sensitive.
In the trailers and spots we see Finn fighting but we do not see Rey fighting.
This is the reason for people considering the possibility that there might be misdirection.
Nothing to do with skin colour.
Some people think Rey is not daughter of Han and Leia and it's misdirection in the trailer. What do you think about those people?

The leaked synopsis is most certainly not complete and accuracy and completeness are two different things. The synopsis not having information on a given event does not prove the event doesn't happen. Unless I'm wrong, what was leaked wasn't the final script or transcript of events as they happened during taping. I'm not saying that the spoilers describing Rey using the Force aren't accurate. I'm saying just because the spoilers don't mention Luke using the Force doesn't mean he won't in the movie. This logic can also be applied to Finn (who they've hinted is Force sensitive).

Yeah this the only reason i still have some doubts , i couldn't give two f***s about Finn's skin color actually.
Also ad the fact that JJ is the kind of douchy director that would do something like this and use a big fat red herring. ;)

If it turns out that Finn is not force sensitive i think the emphasis of his character will be on his heroism. He will be a true hero who selflessly will sacrifice himself for his friends if necessary and fight no matter the odds.

I've seen that character way too man times. Can't we get something new and fresh? Stormtrooper turned Jedi?
    --- Double Post Merged, Nov 29, 2015, Original Post Date: Nov 29, 2015 ---
Not heard many people saying Rey shown being of Skywalker lineage being misdirection.

I get what you are saying but even with the leaked synopsis and all that, if you had a white actor play Finn, my strong belief is people would be more inclined to believe he has the force. You will get some that would doubt it based on what you said, but more would assume these are two Jedi.

I mean, people flipped because they had a black stormtrooper pop up on their screen like a bad nightmare.

I'm just happy to see a former stormtrooper as one of the main leads. Something I never would've expected. Whatever happens beyond that is a bonus :)

Mark said he didn't know about being Vader's son until very late in the game... and that he couldn't tell Harrison or Carrie about it (both of whom played hurt). Mark said something to the effect that some of his money was tied to not letting that secret out. The fact that Daisy openly states she knows (even if it's down the line) makes me think the things I listed earlier.

Lol I'd be beyond infuriated if Finn wasn't force sensitive.
If Luke calls on finn to bring the saber through the force, even though he's not
And maz gives finn the saber to watch for rey, thus putting him in danger again
    He doesn't fly the ship
He gets injured in order to motivate rey

He'd be the galactic fall guy
    That'd not gonna happen.

I agree and I've made that point many teams in numerous arguments on this subject. But I disagree on the Greivous part although I respect your opinion, Greivous was basically a machine, a computer can react and think a lot faster then any non force possesing human could. So the Grevious thing was forgivable to an extent. I just hope they have an internal consistency when it comes to the skill and devotion required to be a jedi. In the prequels they established that decades of training are required from childhood into adult hood to be a proficient. Yes Luke didn't have nearly as much training as the prequel jedi but he was the son of the chosen one a force prodigy. In addition he wasn't fighting Vader proficiently with a lightsaber in A New Hope.

i just think seeing finn fight against kylo or anyother opponent will look great and probably more fun to watch than any other fight we have seen so far in star wars.

I wholeheartedly agree but would also argue the only reason that many are so passionate about Finn is the fact that he is black. Skin color should be irrelevant, in regards to the character, his past, his present, his journey, and/or his fate. But on the flip side of your comment, I have seen several make comments in regards to TFA being a bust if Finn is not a Jedi, or if Finn is defeated, or if Finn dies. There is no excuse for racism, but I would admonish you that road runs both ways.
