Spoiler: Kylo and Luke

When Luke and Kylo have their lightsaber fight on the surface of Crait, it's filmed like an old western. With the new gorilla walkers standing still behind Kylo. Luke ignites his saber. But his saber and Kylo's saber never actually touch. Luke does a Matrix-style move and avoids Kylo's strike. Then, after Luke bests Kylo for a while, Kylo slashes through Luke's body horizontally. Luke is unharmed. Kylo pokes though Luke's chest. Kylo then realizes it's not actually Luke, it's an apparition, an avatar. Luke says "...Every word of what you just said was wrong. The Rebellion is reborn today. The war is just beginning. And I will not be the last Jedi. ... See you around, kid", smirks and vanishes. Cut to Ahch-To where Luke really is, sitting on a rock. It felt like Luke won. What he really did was buy some time for the others to escape.

 

I just thought about this now. I think Rian Johnson puted an end of all characters that most of us fan complained in TFA, weak characters:
- Phasma
- Snoke
- maz

Not sure if it was fanservice.

 

Wait, You've given me an idea...Snoke background mystery+extra time on porgs=ULTIMATE theory!

Snoke is an ancient Porg God! Abandoned by his former creations!

It would make sense in the story focus. Rian was laying hints all along!

Iˇve seen the movie today. I liked it. I was prepared for worse. The story with Finn was not very interesting. Benicio was weird and acted weird. Too much characters. Superman Leia the biggest out of place moment. Mayor fail was that every director does whatever he wants with no obvious coherent with the chapter before. It is clear there is no basic story for the whole trilogy and they invent things as it goes....Knights of Ren are nowhere. The other kids from the Jedi school are nowhere. Snoke was somebody, now he´s nobody. Characters are powerful and then they are not so much, others are beginners and then ultra fighters.....it was a good blockbuster but really no deep story, just lets move from here to there.....I couldn´t believe Rey to be so familiar with Ben, she acted as an old friend, not someone, who know Ben fewhours and during that time witnesses him killing his father, almost killing her only friend and killing a lot of rebels....in one time he is killing machine, then he hesitates and shows some feelings.....I didn´t believe it, and it also seemed out of place from the Star Wars Universe....I did like the jokes, there were many (my friend didn´t he said most of them was childisch). I liked Luke, he was funny (I don´t remember him being funny in the old trilogy tho). To end - it was not that terrible I imagined it would be. But definitely this trilogy is something different and we have yet to see, if it will be good or bad.

 

The implication at least is that the other kids from the Jedi school left with Kylo and became the Knights of Ren.

 

We have already two movies talking about the Knights of Ren. and Kylo being their Master. I don´t think it´s good story writing not showing them or use them. I think it´s just the name, just to give Kilo something like the Sith had. It seems to me that no director so far know what to do with the Ren. And not just with the Ren. I´m OK if they never shows - but then don´t say that the name Kylo Ren means something. Let´s say it´s an alias chosen because young Ben wanted to go incognito. Besides it is only said that some kids left with Ben, not that they all became Knights of Ren. Again - why would they do it? Why did they chose the name Ren? That´s the problem of the last two movies - a lot of questions and no answers. Like Lost. It is clear the directors use the characters but doesn´t know the backstory. ANd there is no basic story for the trilogy. Today Rian settled the girl is nobody. Tomorrow JJ could do anything with this information - there is no limit. He was lying! ANd this he can change whatever he wants. I´m not appy with this storytelling....As I said - it was good entertaining. But to stands for years in the Star Wars saga....that´s different...

 

I agree with the Lost/Mystery Box complaint. It does feel like they're making blast up as they go along.

 

I, for one, never said that. Personally as long as the books are quality (as opposed to many of the EU books which were often crap). No werewolves or centaurs and no Solo twins constantly being kidnapped (at some point you'd figure they guard those dorks!).

Are you seriously implying that the current canon is without flaw? That's just wrong.

Besides, there is a ton of great stuff in Legends.

Not at all. That first Aftermath book was... forgettable. Heck I couldn't finish it. But the other two I enjoyed. The new Thrawn book, totally enjoyed that. Ashoka and the book Bloodline I also thought were well done.

But, if I were LF, I too would have overwritten the EU. I'd want everything to match, flow, no contradictions, etc. And I would NOT turn a 20 or 24 year old book into a film now (unless it was Lord of the Rings good, and none of them are that good).

 

RJ: So JJ I'm beginning to write the script for episode 8 and I have some doubts about some character backgrounds, take this Snoke guy for example, who is he? how does this powerful dark side user fit within the prophecy story arch? And Rey? do you have any background for Rey? is she Luke or Leia's daughter? Was she conceived by the force like Anakin? I'm guessing it has to be either of those options right? Otherwise how we can we explain her power?
JJ: I have no idea man, who cares? Just use some more lens flare (hangs up)
RJ: Fine have it your way, I guess I will just kill Snoke and say Rey is a nobody, let's see how you do with episode 9...

 

If you watched TCW, you'd know it already failed at this.

So did that moron Skywalker2014 get booted for pretending that he knew what happened in TLJ? Haven't seen any posts from him in a couple days. Maybe his parents grounded him?

its started on the 14th here in New Zealand
